West put up five points (2-5 FG, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, three assists, and a steal in 22 minutes during Thursday's exhibition loss to the Kings.
West entered the starting lineup for Thursday's game, but only because Tim Duncan was receiving the night off for rest. Coach Gregg Popovich figures to rest Duncan liberally throughout the season, particularly during back-to-back sets, but unless he misses significant time with an injury, it's difficult to see West returning an abundance of fantasy value on a game-by-game basis. Instead, West's intrigue primarily lies in daily leagues, where fantasy players can take advantage of his expected low price and utilize him in instances where he's in the starting lineup in place of Duncan.
Mon Jul 6 201516:44David West: Takes Vet Minimum With Spurs
West has agreed to a veteran minimum contract with the Spurs, David Aldridge of NBA.com reports.
West declined a $12 million option to remain with the Pacers earlier in the offseason and will now head to San Antonio for just $1.2 million. In addition to the major pay cut, West should come off the bench with the Spurs as he plays behind Tim Duncan and LaMarcus Aldridge. He formerly was a perennial starter in Indiana and his new role in the Spurs' crowded frontcourt should hurt West's value when considering that he was allotted 28.7 minutes per game last season, a total that he'll likely have trouble duplicating as he joins the Spurs in pursuit of the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy.

West informed the Pacers that he will decline his player option for next season, Candace Buckner of the Indy Star reports.
West was set to make $12.6 million next season, but he'll opt out in hopes of landing a longer-term deal. At age 34, West is unlikely to find a deal that pays him upwards of $10 million per season, but he's still a productive player, so securing a multi-year deal is certainly feasible. West averaged 11.7 points and 6.8 rebounds in 28.7 minutes per game last season. At this point, it's unclear whether the Pacers, who are looking to become a more versatile team, will be interested in bringing him back.

West averaged 11.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 29 minutes per game through 66 games in the 2014-15 season. He has a player option with the Pacers for the 2015-16 season.
West missed the first month of the 2014-15 season with an ankle injury. Going into the All Star break, West averaged 13.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and was the 102nd ranked player in eight-category leagues. After the break, though, his stats declined to 9.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists, making him the 155th ranked player during that span. Pacers president Larry Bird stated during exit interviews that he wants to use smaller and faster lineups, meaning West can expect less minutes if he decides to stay in Indiana next year. At age 34, West's best years are behind him, and owners shouldn't expect too much from the veteran in 2015-16, especially if he returns to the Pacers.

West (illness) stuffed the stat sheet Sunday against the Mavericks, posting 10 points, five rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocks in 28 minutes of action.
West missed just one game due to his illness, and it doesn't seem like he'll miss anymore time. He's been producing low-end standard league numbers in March -- 9.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists. Owners in shallow leagues can do better, however.

He missed Indiana's last game with an allergic reaction, but he should re-assume his spot in the starting lineup Sunday, sending Luis Scola to the bench.
Thu Mar 26 201519:12David West: (Illness) Out Thursday
West won't suit up Thursday in Milwaukee due to an allergic reaction, the Indianapolis Star reports.
The absence will mark West's first since missing the first four weeks of the season due to a severely sprained right ankle suffered during the preseason. In his stead, Luis Scola is the prime candidate to receive a spot start, though Lavoy Allen and Ian Mahinmi could pick up additional run in the Pacers' frontcourt. Meanwhile, consider West questionable in advance of Sunday's game against the Mavericks.

West (illness) took his place in the starting lineup Saturday, scoring 13 points (6-9 FG, 1-2 FT), with four rebounds and four assists in 28 minutes Saturday.
West had been limited in his production, failing to register double-digit points in the past three games before Saturday. Despite his role as a starter, West has averaged only 7.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists, shooting 38 percent in his last seven games. He's no longer a must-own player in fantasy leagues.
