PG Kyrie Irving, returning from a one-game absence caused by a quad bruise, scored 33 points in Wednesday's win."It's always something that you want to build towards as a team, being able to respond and come out, especially on our home floor, and compete," Irving said after the Celtics improved to 24-6. "We started off the game, they were really comfortable, we weren't getting stops the way we wanted to. They were in a great rhythm and we just had to be resilient practically the whole night and just kind of weather their storms.Irving, who went 12-for-19 from the floor and 4-for-9 from 3-point range, dished out seven assists.

F Will Barton, who bruised his lower back in Detroit on Tuesday night, did not play Wednesday.

F Jonas Jerebko was available on Wednesday after experiencing illness Tuesday. He scored nine points in 19 minutes during a 103-100 loss at Chicago.

F Gordon Hayward, who sustained a broken left tibia and dislocated ankle in the season opener, discarded his walking boot Wednesday and will stay out of it depending on how his foot responds. "Today has been awesome without the boot," he said. He is slated to miss the rest of the season, but there has been talk of a late-season return.

F Joe Johnson missed his 21st straight game with wrist tendon instability, but went through Wednesday's shootaround and felt comfortable in 1-on-1 drills, but remains out. Coach Quin Snyder said Johnson still can't take contact in practice, but is close to returning.

G John Wall returned to the lineup for Wednesday's 93-87 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. He missed nine games with left knee inflammation and the Wizards posted a 4-5 record. Wall scored 13 points in 28 points.His most significant stretch came during the second quarter after Washington squandered most of a 10-point lead. Wall responded by scoring nine straight points late in the first half.

G John Wall returned to the lineup Wednesday against the visiting Memphis Grizzlies after missing nine games with a knee injury. The four-time All-Star received injections in his left knee on Nov. 25 to help against inflammation. Wall ramped up his basketball activities in recent days, including a full practice Monday. Wizards coach Scott Brooks said Wall could have played in Tuesday's loss at Brooklyn, but gave him an extra day of rest with Washington dealing with a back-to-back set. Wall started against Memphis, but is expected to receive minutes in the mid-20s, Brooks said. In 16 games entering Wednesday, Wall averaged 20.3 points and 9.2 assists. Washington (14-13) has dropped two in a row and finished 4-5 in the nine games without Wall.

C Robin Lopez scored 16 points in Wednesday's win over Utah. He made 8 of 20 shots and set a season high for field goal attempts.

F Nikola Mirotic scored 29 points in Wednesday's win over the Utah Jazz. He made 11 of 18 shots as Chicago (7-20) won its fourth straight game.

C Marc Gasol recorded his 12th double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds in Wednesday's loss at Washington. Last season, Gasol posted 11 double-doubles in 74 games.

G Arron Afflalo missed Wednesday's game with back spasms.

G Tyrek Evans missed Wednesday's loss at Washington with a hip injury.

F Mike Scott started in place of F Markieff Morris (sore right hip) and scored 10 points in Wednesday's win over the Memphis Grizzlies. It was his first start of the season.

G Austin Rivers sustained a concussion in Wednesday's win at Orlando when he was called for a foul trying to defend Orlando F Jonathon Simmons. He stayed on the ground for two minutes after the play while teammates gathered around. He was helped to the locker room, where doctors determined his concussion symptoms. He will not play Friday's game at Washington.

C DeAndre Jordan finished with 16 points and 20 rebounds in Wednesday's win at Orlando. In his last seven games, Jordan is averaging 13.3 points and 17.1 rebounds on 68.3 percent shooting (41 of 60).

G Lou Williams came off the bench to score 31 points in Wednesday's win at Orlando.He has hit three or more 3-pointers in nine of the last 10 games while shooting 45.7 percent (32 of 70) . He's also averaging 24.7 points and 6.9 assists in that span.

C Ian Mahinmi (sore right knee) missed his second straight game Wednesday.

F Markieff Morris did not play in Wednesday's win over the Memphis Grizzlies due to a hip injury. He is expected to play in Friday's game againast the Los Angeles Clippers. In the previous two games, Morris played less than 20 minutes and did not play in fourth quarters.
