C Kyle O'Quinn started at center in place of Joakim Noah (ankle), and he finished with two points and eight rebounds in 18 minutes against Minnesota.

F Kyle O'Quinn, who finished with 19 points and six rebounds, came off the bench for 10 first-half points for New York in a loss at Indiana on Wednesday.

O'Quinn posted a double-double Friday, amassing 14 points (5-9 FG, 4-4 FT), two assists, 10 rebounds, and a block in a 115-104 victory over the Wizards.

O'Quinn posted an equally impressive performance as that of one of his primary competitors for playing time, Derrick Williams. While Williams outscored him, O'Quinn was a force on the defensive glass, bringing down nine of his 10 boards on that side of the floor. The 25-year-old power forward has now tallied an impressive 18 rebounds in 46 minutes over two exhibition contests, while shooting at a 62.5 percent clip (10-for-16). If O'Quinn can manage to maintain offensive consistency while continuing to display defensive prowess, he could receive abundant opportunities in the Knicks front-court. The remainder of the preseason should help crystallize O'Quinn's regular-season role and consequently, his potential draft appeal.

O'Quinn played 21 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's exhibition against Brazilian club Bauru Basket, contributing 14 points (5-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, four assists, and a blocked shot.

Though it was rookie Kristaps Porzingis who earned the start at power forward, O'Quinn and Kevin Seraphin (14 points on 7-for-11 shooting, five rebounds) that provided the top post production on the afternoon. Knicks coach Derek Fisher should continue to give all three players a fair chance in the preseason at staking a claim to the starting job, but O'Quinn certainly improved his stock with Wednesday's effort.

O'Quinn has the capacity to play power forward and reserve center, according to President Phil Jackson, Charley Rosen of ESPN reports.

The Knicks' starting power forward slot is up for grabs with Carmelo Anthony the presumptive starting small forward. O'Quinn has spent the summer working on his game at Impact Basketball, primarily strengthening his jumper and implementing a low-post game. He struggled assimilation to power forward last season, and it lead to his demotion from the Magic's rotation. O'Quinn's passing ability and shooting range make him the quintessential triangle offense big man, but he'll have to compete with Kristaps Porzingis, Derrick Williams, and Kevin Seraphin for rotation minutes.

O'Quinn has been improving his offensive repertoire at Impact Basketball, Basketball Insiders reports. "Of course, I'm working on my jump shot [and] some go-to moves in the post," O'Quinn said. "I do want to get better at shooting corner threes. Last year, I was asked to do that and I want to keep working on that and expanding my range."

O'Quinn struggled last season from beyond the arc, converting 28 percent of his career-high 43 attempts. He was limited all of last season from an ankle injury suffered opening night and eventually lost playing time to the Magic's Dewayne Dedmon under interim coach James Borrego. A healthy O'Quinn is an adept passer and quality rim deterrent, two qualities that all but solidify his spot in the Knicks' rotation.

O'Quinn was acquired by the Knicks under a sign and trade agreement with the Magic for a four-year deal worth $16 million, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

O'Quinn had a hard time earning playing time in Orlando but was a double-double threat when he saw around 30 minutes of run. He's likely positioned for a role off the bench yet again in New York, however, as he slots in behind expected starter Robin Lopez at center.

O'Quinn received a qualifying offer from the Magic on Tuesday.

O'Quinn will now officially be a restricted free agent, providing Orlando the chance to match any offer he may receive from another team.

O'Quinn was an afterthought after excelling during the second half of the 2013-14 season. He patched together 5.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 16.2 minutes per game in a career-low 51 games.

O'Quinn suffered an ankle injury opening night and never recovered. Most of his time was spent at power forward where he was encouraged to expand his offensive rage. After attempting four three-pointers the previous two seasons, O'Quinn launched 43 shots from downtown, converting a problematic 28 percent. O'Quinn participated in 11 of the final 26 games, ceding playing time to Dewayne Dedmon and Aaron Gordon. In that time, he failed to block a shot and averaged a team-low 10.0 minutes per game. While it may have been a ploy to keep his price down in restricted free agency, plenty of teams in need of an agile backup center with lethal passing ability and rim protection could offer a hefty contract offer.

O'Quinn has played a total of six minutes since the All-Star break.

Coach James Borrego has sided with Dewayne Dedmon as his first backup big off the bench. However, most nights Borrego runs a smaller lineup with Tobias Harris at power forward, keeping Channing Frye, Andrew Nicholson, and Dedmon all under 20 minutes per game.

O'Quinn didn't play in Saturday's loss to the Mavericks.

O'Quinn was active for the game, but he missed shootaround due to family reasons. Coach Vaughn said, "With a tough team like that without being physically able to go through shootaround, I thought [Dewayne] Dedmon would be better off tonight." Look for O'Quinn to play in Monday's game against the Thunder. He's averaging 15.8 minutes per game in January.

O'Quinn moved back to the bench, with Channing Frye replacing him in the starting lineup. He got just 11 minutes, scoring four points (2-3 FG), two rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

O'Quinn was struggling as a starter and now that he is back on the bench, his fantasy value reduces even further. If you were holding hoping for a turn around, the chances of that just reduced and he can likely be dropped in most leagues of 14 teams or shallower.

O'Quinn has played only 20.2 minutes per game since being reinserted into the starting lineup.

O'Quinn is averaging 5.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.9 blocks, and 0.7 three-pointers in the last nine games. He's splitting minutes with Channing Frye and Dewayne Dedmon, curtailing his fantasy value.

O'Quinn posted a solid all-around line in his start Sunday against the Sixers, contributing eight points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal, four blocks, and one three-pointer made in 26 minutes of action.

O'Quinn took the reigns as the starting power forward, and it's unclear whether or not the move is permanent. He's worth a speculative pickup for the time being, as Channing Frye has been horrific over recent memory, and O'Quinn's all-around contribution is admirable in the fantasy landscape.

O'Quinn remained in the starting lineup with Nikola Vucevic out with a back injury. He scored 13 points (5-7 FG, 3-3 FT) with four rebounds, one assist and two blocks in 18 minutes during Friday's win against the Jazz.

O'Quinn's value is handcuffed to Vucevic's health. If Vucevic misses significant time then O'Quinn will become a must own, but for now he is a short term or deep league option only.

O'Quinn will start in place of Nikola Vucevic (back) on Friday against the Jazz, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

O'Quinn has received the start in place of Vucevic over the last two games that he's been absent. This trend will likely continue until Vucevic makes a return to the court.

O'Quinn played just seven minutes Wednesday before receiving a Flagrant 2 foul and getting ejected.

He connected with the ball while trying to block a Blake Griffin drive to the hoop, but his follow-through caught Griffin in the face and O'Quinn got bounced after the refs reviewed the play. He was off to a good start too, making all three of his field goal attempts, so his owners likely missed out on a solid stat line. O'Quinn and the Magic will now wait to see if the NBA will levy any additional discipline against him.
