Varejao recorded six points (1-4 FG, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a blocked shot over 21 minutes in Monday's preseason loss to the Grizzlies.
Varejao entered the lineup as the Cavs' starting power forward while Kevin Love (shoulder) remained sidelined for a third straight game. Love, who resumed full-contact practices Saturday, is expected to make his preseason debut later this week, putting Varejao on track to open the regular season in a bench role. Unless the team is able to resolve its contract dispute with holdout Tristan Thompson, it looks like Varejao will be the top reserve big man behind starters Love and Timofey Mozgov.

Varejao confirmed at Monday's media day that he'll be a "full go from the beginning" of training camp, Marlo Ridenour of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Varejao was limited to only 26 games last season after tearing his Achilles in December. In his absence, the team added Timofey Mozgov via trade, and Mozgov projects to begin the 2015-16 season as the starter. Varejao figures to hold down a consistent role as the first or second big man off the bench, and his minutes load may ultimately be determined by how the Tristan Thompson situation shakes out. Thompson, who was not present at media day, is seeking a contract extension, but if he and the Cavaliers cannot reach an agreement on a new deal or a qualifying offer, it's possible Thompson could hold out.

Varejao (Achilles) was limited to 26 games after signing a contract extension. He averaged 9.6 points and 6.5 rebounds before going down for the season in late December.
Varejao was limited to 31 games or fewer for the fourth time in five seasons. He brings a similar skillset as Tristan Thompson, but the younger Cavalier may be more versatile defensively. Varejao is the only Cavalier signed beyond next season, so the team will hope that he can rehabilitate and stay healthy in 2015-16.

Varejao (Achilles) will not return at any point during the Finals, Sports Illustrated reports.
Earlier Friday morning, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported that Varejao "could be activated" if the Cavs were to suffer a frontcourt injury, but this latest story seems to squash any possibility that the Brazilian could play in the Finals. Varejao tore his left Achilles in late-December and has been working toward returning for the start of the 2015-16 season. The Cavs have not provided detailed updates on his progress, so it's unclear whether Varejao is even close - health-wise - to returning to the court.

Varejao believes he his ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn left Achilles and expects to be ready to play for the start of the 2015-16 season, Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
While it's encouraging to see that Varejao hasn't endured any setbacks in his recovery from the December procedure and is now out of a walking boot, there's legitimate fears about his ability to reemerge as a vital contributor for the Cavs. The big man will turn 33 in September and has already been foiled by a litany of injuries throughout his career, but returning from an ailment of this nature may be his toughest test yet. For what it's worth, Varejao said he expects to be close to the same player after returning from injury, but fantasy players shouldn't be nearly as optimistic.

Varejao had successful surgery on his torn left Achilles on Friday but is still expected to miss the rest of the season, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
The absence of Varejao for the remainder of the 2014-15 season is yet another blemish on his injury-stained career. In his absence, it appears that Kevin Love will slide down to center thus leaving Shawn Marion, Mike Miller, and LeBron James to float around the two through four positions. Most surprisingly, it seems that Tristan Thompson will continue to be limited in a role off the bench.
Wed Dec 24 201412:27Anderson Varejao: Out For Season With Torn Achilles
Varejao has a torn left Achilles and will miss the remainder of the season, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Varejao's loss is a big blow to the Cavaliers, who have been one of the leagues hottest teams of late. The big man was averaging 9.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 25 minutes this season, bu now his minutes will be shifted elsewhere. Tristan Thompson likely figures to be the biggest beneficiary of the unfortunate injury.
Tue Dec 23 201421:06Anderson Varejao: (Leg) Will Not Return Tuesday
Varejao (leg) will not return to Tuesday's game against the Timberwolves, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Varejao wasn't able to put any pressure on his left leg when he left the court Tuesday. It's still unclear which part of his leg was hurting and further testing Wednesday will likely unveil exactly what type of situation Varejao is dealing with. If he's ultimately forced to miss time off the court, Tristan Thompson would almost certainly see an immediate bump in value.

Varejao left Tuesday's game against Minnesota with an injury to his left leg, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Varejao had to be carried off the court as he was unable to put any weight on his left leg. Considering that the game is in the second half and his injury looked to be serious, it would be somewhat surprising if he returned to Tuesday's game.

Varejao scored 18 points (9-12 FG) with seven rebounds and two steals in 27 minutes in the win over the Grizzlies on Sunday.
Varejao has only scored in double digits twice in December. He continues to start, but is playing just 22.2 minutes this month. He is a good rebounder on a per minute basis, but Varejao is only playable in deeper leagues.

Varejao had nine points (4-11 FG, 1-1 FT) with six rebounds in 27 minutes in the loss to the Thunder on Thursday.
Varejao has been ceding minutes to Tristan Thompson and has not topped 20 minutes twice in his last five games (also due to foul trouble). He has only topped six rebounds once in his last five games.

Varejao (ribs) returned from a one-game absence and provided eight points (4-8 FG) and eight rebounds in 27 minutes in the win over the Bucks on Tuesday.
Varejao missed the Cavs' win over Indiana, but played his normal complement of minutes in the competitive win over Milwaukee. He should be good for his season averages of 10.9 points on 61.1 percent from the field and 6.9 rebounds.
Tue Dec 2 201418:04Varejao (ribs) will start at center Tuesday versus Milwaukee
Varejao (ribs) will start at center Tuesday versus Milwaukee, CF Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Tristan Thompson got the start at center against the Pacers on Saturday, but coach David Blatt announced he'll go back to Varejao, who missed the Indiana game with bruised ribs. Varejao is riding a five-game double-digit scoring streak and is shooting a career-best 61.1 percent from the field, up from 49.5 percent last season.

Varejao (ribs) practiced in full Monday and is expected to play Tuesday against Milwaukee, Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Varejao missed Saturday's win over the Pacers due to a bruised rib, but the ailment was short-lived and all signs point to the big man returning to the floor Tuesday. While Varejao's rebounding numbers are down this season, he's averaging 10.9 points per game on 61.1 percent shooting after converting only 49.5 percent of his field goals last season.
Sat Nov 29 201417:50Anderson Varejao: (Ribs) Out Saturday
Varejao (ribs) will not play Saturday against the Pacers, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Varejao will miss at least one game due to his sore ribs. Tristan Thompson will likely enter the starting lineup in Varejao's place.

Varejao didn't practice Friday because of a rib contusion and is questionable for Saturday's game against the Pacers, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
The origin of Varajao's injury is unclear at this point, but it surfaced at practice Friday. If he is unable to go Saturday, Tristan Thompson could be the beneficiary of extra playing time in his place.

Varejao scored 13 points (5-9 FG, 3-6 FT) with 12 rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes during Saturday's loss to the Raptors.
That's two double-doubles in the last three games for Varejao, who's beginning to find his form on the glass after a slow start. All the pieces aren't yet fitting together on the Cavs, but Varejao at least seems to be getting comfortable.

Varejao had himself a double-double on Wednesday against the Spurs, scoring 23 points (11-16 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-3 FT) and grabbing 11 rebounds. He added two blocks while turning the ball over three times in 37 minutes.
Varejao's high-energy style of play translated well into fantasy production on Wednesday. The starting center led the way in scoring for the Cavaliers, an unusual occurrence with the caliber of scorers the Cavs have on their roster. Varejao won't always score this many points, but should average around 10 rebounds per game this season.
Mon Nov 10 201419:00Anderson Varejao: Back In Starting Five
Varejao is in fact starting at center Monday against the Pelicans, the News-Herald reports.
An erroneous report emerged which placed Tristan Thompson in the starting lineup, but Varejao is manning his typical spot.
Mon Nov 10 201418:55Anderson Varejao: Coming Off Bench Monday
Varejao will come off the bench Monday against the Pelicans, the Cavaliers' official site reports.
Varejao has been replaced, at least for one game, by Tristan Thompson in the starting lineup. It's unclear if the change is a permanent one, but Varejao's prospects with a three-game week on tap have been diminished.
