Mon Mar 4 201313:46Jamaal Tinsley expected to rejoin Jazz Wed.
Jamaal Tinsley was excused from the Jazz for personal reasons, meaning he will not play on Monday, and he's expected to rejoin the team on Wednesday in Cleveland.
Tinsley was the starter when Mo Williams (thumb) first went down, but he's been relegated to a none-role and is not on the fantasy radar.

Tue Jan 15 201300:40Tinsley (illness) hands out seven assists
Jamaal Tinsley (illness) played on Monday, scoring three points on 1-of-7 shooting with five rebounds, seven assists, and one steal in 31 minutes.
Tinsley's one field goal made was a 3-point shot, and this is a pretty standard line for the veteran PG.

Sat Jan 12 201322:17Tinsley (illness) plays just six minutes
Jamaal Tinsley (illness) was a non-factor vs. the Pistons, playing just six minutes.
Earl Watson replaced Tinsley to begin the second half. Randy Foye is also capable of handling PG minutes, and there have been some brief Alec-Burks-as-PG moments, but when he's healthy Tinsley will continue to fill in for Mo Williams (thumb surgery).

Sat Jan 12 201300:04Tinsley hands out nine assists
Jamaal Tinsley handed out nine assists to go with four points, two rebounds, and one block over 27 minutes in Friday's loss to the Hawks.
Tinsley hit a three for his only field goal of the night on three attempts. He's worth a look for his assists but otherwise his overall value proposition rests in deep league territory.

Wed Jan 9 201322:52Jamaal Tinsley plays just 20 minutes in win
Jamaal Tinsley started at point guard again Wednesday, but played just 20 minutes and finished with nine points and eight assists on 4-of-8 shooting.
Randy Foye played 32 minutes and had nine points, five rebounds, four assists, a steal and three 3-pointers, and Alec Burks played 28 minutes and had 12 points, three assists, a steal and a block. It appears the Jazz may just let Foye play a majority of the point guard minutes going forward, while Burks is coming on. Tinsley's not an auto-drop just yet, but unless his minutes and production pick up, he will be soon.

Tue Jan 8 201302:03Tinsley posts very low end line vs. Mavs
Jamaal Tinsley scored five points on 2-of-7 shooting (including a three) with three rebounds, six assists, and one steal in Monday's win over the Mavs.
Tinsley is worth a look in deep leagues for PG-needy owners, as this output should be considered a reasonable baseline expectation. He logged 21 minutes to Earl Watson's 18 minutes, though the latter had just three points and one assist on the night.

Sun Jan 6 201301:14Tinsley, Watson, Foye struggle in loss @ DEN
Utah's starting backcourt struggled on Saturday, as Jamaal Tinsley and Randy Foye combined for 13 points on 4-of-14 shooting, with seven assists and four turnovers.
Tinsley's fantasy line wasn't a complete bust, as he made a 3-pointer and chipped in two steals and a block, but he was limited to just 21 minutes. Earl Watson scored seven points in 17 minutes, and unfortunately you're going to see the names Tinsley and Watson alongside each other for the foreseeable future. It's a position battle without much upside.

Sat Jan 5 201304:46Tinsley sputters in timeshare with Watson
Jamaal Tinsley sputtered in Friday's win over the Suns, scoring two points on 1-of-2 shooting with three rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block in 20 minutes.
This line has a few redeeming qualities, but the fact that Earl Watson (19 minutes, zero points, eight assists) cut into his time is enough to send him packing for many owners, and deservedly so. It looks like he's be a hot-and-cold option going forward, better suited for deeper formats.

Thu Jan 3 201301:53Jamaal Tinsley scores 12 for Jazz
Jamaal Tinsley had 12 points, six rebounds and three assists on 6-of-8 shooting in 24 minutes of Utah's easy win over the Wolves on Wednesday.
News broke prior to the game that Mo Williams will miss at least six weeks (and probably more) due to right thumb surgery, so Tinsley could be the starting point guard in Utah until further notice. Earl Watson added four points and nine assists in 24 minutes, and while the two journeymen are likely to timeshare in Mo-Will's absence, we'd rather own Tinsley for now.

Mon Dec 31 201200:58Jamaal Tinsley hands out 11 assists
Jamaal Tinsley had eight points, 11 assists and two steals in 26 minutes on Sunday, but he also turned the ball over five times vs. Chris Paul and the red-hot Clippers.
It was only a matter of time before he handed out double-digit dimes, but his awful shooting and timeshare with Earl Watson (scoreless with five assists in 21 minutes) makes him a borderline option.

Sat Dec 29 201204:18Tinsley quiet against the Clippers
Jamaal Tinsley scored three points on one field goal attempt (a three) with zero rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block in 29 minutes on Friday against the Clippers.
Tinsley had his hands full with Chris Paul but he has been a disappointment since taking over for Mo Williams. Williams is out indefinitely and still can't have an MRI taken on his thumb because it's too swollen, so there is time for Tinsley to change things up and owners should keep an eye on things. Earl Watson played 19 minutes tonight and barely produced anything, so Tinsley gained some separation in the position battle tonight.

Thu Dec 27 201200:09Tinsley lays an egg in start on Wednesday
Jamaal Tinsley failed to score on Wednesday against the Warriors, adding two rebounds and four assists in 21 minutes.
This wasn't what owners signed up for in deeper leagues once the news came down of Mo Williams being out. Earl Watson played 27 minutes and played a little more in a bad matchup for Tinsley against Stephen Curry. Watson does gain a shred of value in deeper leagues, but Tinsley owners shouldn't abandon him unless it's for a player that won't hang around the waiver wire too long.

Sun Dec 23 201220:41Tinsley, Watson split PG duties for Jazz
Jamaal Tinsley played 27 minutes as Utah's starting PG on Sunday, scoring 11 points with three 3-pointers, three rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Earl Watson chipped in two points and eight assists in 21 minutes off the bench, but Tinsley has more fantasy upside. He's a career 39.4 percent shooter (3-of-9 on Sunday), but Mo Williams (thumb) may be facing a long absence and Tinsley is worth considering if you need assists and a trickle of 3s and steals.

Sun Dec 23 201216:30Jamaal Tinsley will start on Sunday
Jamaal Tinsley will start against the Magic on Sunday.
Mo Williams (thumb) is still a game-time decision, but even if he plays, he will come off the bench. Tinsley averaged 8.0 assists in his four starts this season, so he does hold some value with Williams sidelined.

Tue Nov 27 201205:22Tinsley scores 15 points with six assists
Jamaal Tinsley started for injured Mo Williams (foot) in the Jazz's 105-103 win over the Nuggets on Monday, scoring a season-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting (including three treys) with two rebounds, six assists, two steals, and two blocks in 35 minutes.
Tinsley is the clear go-to option over Earl Watson (five points, one assist, 13 minutes) right now whenever Williams is hurt, but that ride could be ending soon with Williams targeting Wednesday's game for his return. We wouldn't hold Tinsley at the expense of a hot free agent, but if the wire is bare feel free to see if you get lucky and squeeze another game from him.

Sun Nov 25 201200:57Tinsley starts, hits four 3s w/ seven assists
Jamaal Tinsley started in place of Mo Williams (foot sprain) on Saturday and had 14 points, four 3-pointers, seven assists and one steal in 31 minutes of action.
Williams is day-to-day, which depletes Tinsley's appeal, but it's nice to see the veteran PG filling a productive role after being ostracized by the Pacers. It's worth noting that according to basketball-reference.com, Tinsley has been a part of Utah's four most productive lineups this season, as measured by cumulative +/- totals.

Sat Nov 24 201201:21Jamaal Tinsley fills in very nicely
Jamaal Tinsley filled in quite nicely for Mo Williams (ankle) wiht two points, six rebounds and 12 assists in 31 minutes in the 104-102 win over the Kings.
Mo Williams was in a walking boot after the game, so Tinsley could hold some nice short-term value. Deep league owners can give him a look.

Sun Nov 11 201200:31Jamaal Tinsley hands out 14 assists vs. Suns
Starting in place of injured Mo Williams (adductor), Jamaal Tinsley racked up 14 assists without scoring a single point in 41 minutes.
If Mo is forced to miss any more games, owners in need of assists should obviously take a long look at Tinsley. We'd prefer a more well-rounded option such as A.J. Price, but Tinsley is more than capable of dropping double-digit assists if he starts again vs. Toronto on Monday.

Sat Nov 10 201206:28Tinsley could fill in for Williams (adductor)
Jamaal Tinsley played 22 minutes for the injured Mo Williams (adductor) in Friday's blowout loss to the Nuggets, scoring five points on 2-of-6 shooting with three rebounds, seven assists, and one steal.
Tinsley is worth a look if you need a point guard, but keep in mind that we don't know anything about Williams' status at this time. Williams has struggled with this injury for about two years at least, and he will sometimes take maintenance days.

Fri Oct 26 201200:08Tinsley (mouth) returns, plays 23 minutes
Jamaal Tinsley (wisdom teeth) returned to action on Thursday and played 23 off the bench, going scoreless with six assists, four steals and three turnovers.
The veteran PG posted solid per-minute assist totals last season, but his fantasy value is restricted to the absolute deepest leagues. He's behind Mo Williams and Randy Foye on the depth chart, and will also compete with Earl Watson once he returns from knee surgery.
