Even when starting, Budinger wasn't doing enough to stoke the interest of fantasy owners and his recent demotion won't do anything to rekindle any optimism that may have existed. If you added him outside of the deepest leagues, it's time to drop him, especially with the upcoming return of Kevin Martin and Shabazz Muhammad.

Budinger made the start Saturday in place of Shabazz Muhammad (groin), scoring two points (1-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt) with five rebounds and one steal in 18 minutes.

With Muhammad not set to miss extended time, Budinger's run as a starter won't last too long and he will be relegated to a bench role sooner rather than later. In his previous two games, Budinger had averaged 9.5 points and 4.5 rebounds, so the two point outing was a disappointment, but Budinger doesn't move the dial in any league outside of the deepest formats.

Budinger will start against the Spurs on Saturday.

Budinger will be making his first start of the season as he'll take over for Shabazz Muhammad (abdomen). As a result of this change, Budinger will likely be in store for significant time on the court.

Knee and ankle ailments limited him to just 41 games last season, but so far this preseason it looks like he's healthy. However, it's not clear how large a role he'll have off the bench. It's also been reported Minnesota is trying to trade Budinger, but the team has denied those reports. If he shows he's healthy at the start of the regular season he could quickly find a larger role or be traded to a team needing a three-point shooter.

Minnesota is trying to trade Budinger with the Pistons and Rockets showing interest, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Minnesota has too many forwards and Budinger may have a small role off the bench, so it makes sense the Timberwolves would try to trade him. However, he'll need to show he's healthy this preseason after knee and ankle ailments limited him to just 41 games last season.

Budinger says he feels healthy heading into training camp, Andy Greder of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "Never thought I'd be eager for camp," Budinger said.

Knee issues prevented Budinger from participating in the last two training camps, but follwing another injury-riddled season, he's fully healthy as camp gets underway. The Arizona product played in only half of the team's games last season after playing in just 23 two seasons ago. If he can stay healthy, he'll compete for a significant role on the wing, as he's proven capable of scoring efficiently in the past (9.6 points, 40.2% 3Pt in 2011-12).

Chase Budinger (knee, ankle) has been fully cleared for Monday's training camp with the Wolves.

It's a three-day session for Budinger, who missed the last six games of the season due to injury. Budinger had a knee issue earlier in the season and it kept his minutes down to a career-low 18.3 per game. If the Wolves do unload Kevin Love, Buds could be looking at some more shots from the perimeter.
