Sat Apr 8 202321:39Jhoan Duran Records Second Save
Minnesota Twins right-hander Jhoan Duran struck out the only batter he faced to earn the save in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Houston Astros. He entered the game in the ninth inning with two runners on and two outs. Duran struck Yainer Diaz out swinging on a 101 MPH fastball to seal the Twins' victory. The 25-year-old has not allowed a run this season and owns a 0.86 WHIP with four strikeouts over 2 1/3 innings. Minnesota continues to use a closer by committee. Duran has earned two saves compared to Jorge Lopez's one. Fantasy managers should continue to start Duran in all league formats.

Thu Mar 30 202321:39Jhoan Duran Picks Up Opening Day Save
Minnesota Twins right-hander Jhoan Duran threw a scoreless ninth inning to nail down a 2-0 Opening Day win over the Kansas City Royals on Thursday. Duran struck out one, walked one, and did not allow a hit while earning the save. The 25-year-old reliever showed off his elite fastball in the frame with six of his 17 pitches topping 100 MPH. The Twins could take a committee approach in the ninth inning this season but Duran has the potential to emerge as the lead guy for save chances. He should be rostered in all leagues as a source of saves and strikeouts.

Minnesota Twins right-hander Jhoan Duran (leg) is slated to throw in Thursday's spring training action against the Toronto Blue Jays. Duran took a liner off of his leg on Sunday but the injury was apparently not serious as he won't miss any time this spring. Mon Mar 20 202308:51Jhoan Duran Suffers Leg Contusion On Sunday
Minnesota Twins right-hander Jhoan Duran (leg) sustained a leg contusion after being hit by a line drive during Sunday's backfield game. According to Twins managers Rocco Baldelli, Duran was "moving around pretty well." The 25-year-old has avoided a significant injury and will likely get a few days off before returning to the mound. He will be used in high-leverage situations and should have some opportunities to rack up saves. Duran picked up a combined 26 saves and holds, along with a 1.86 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and an 89:16 K: BB across 67 2/3 innings in 2022. Duran has an NFBC ADP of 140 and could be a bargain at that price if the Twins utilize him as a traditional closer.

Sun Feb 19 202314:47Jhoan Duran Throws Live Batting Practice
Minnesota Twins right-hander Jhoan Duran (hamstring) was able to throw a live batting practice session on Sunday at spring training. Duran had to drop out of the 2023 World Baseball Classic after he suffered a minor hamstring injury last month, but he's back on the mound and looked good on Sunday. The 25-year-old Dominican made his major-league debut in 2022 and didn't look overmatched at all, recording a 1.86 ERA (2.52 FIP), 0.97 WHIP, his first eight career saves, 18 holds and 89 strikeouts in 67 2/3 relief innings for the Twins. At the very least, he'll be attractive in holds leagues, but he could also see more save chances alongside Jorge Lopez in his second MLB season. Barring a setback, Duran should be ready for Opening Day.

Wed May 25 202200:07Jhoan Duran Earns Fourth Save Of Season Tuesday
Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Jhoan Duran notched his fourth save of the season in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Tigers. Duran entered to pitch the ninth inning up by two. He allowed a leadoff single, got the first out on a flyout, hit a batter, and then induced a groundball double play to end the game. The 24-year-old rookie has done a very nice job out of the bullpen for the Twins this season, compiling a 2.53 ERA with 31 strikeouts and three walks over 21 1/3 innings pitched. Emilio Pagan is still first on the team in save opportunities, but it appears that Duran is second in the mix and may still be able to earn a considerable amount of saves given how the Twins use their bullpen. He is currently rostered in 42 percent of leagues and is worth a roster spot in at least deeper roto leagues at this time.

Minnesota Twins pitcher Jhoan Duran allowed one walk while striking out five across two scoreless innings in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Oakland Athletics. He entered the eighth inning with a one-run lead and recorded six outs to earn the save on Saturday. The 24-year-old has electric stuff, posting a 3.68 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and a 24: 3 K: BB across 14 2/3 innings in 2022. Duran is 2-for-2 in save opportunities and should be rostered in all league formats as he will be in the mix with Emilio Pagan to be the team's primary closer.

Tue May 3 202200:14Jhoan Duran Earns First Save Of Season Monday
Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Jhoan Duran picked up his first save of the season in Monday's 2-1 win over the Orioles. Duran entered the game in the ninth inning up a run and delivered a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout to end the game. Four pitchers have seen save opportunities for the Twins this season, and while Emilio Pagan has seen the most with three, he pitched the eighth inning in this game. Duran has pitched well this season, compiling a 3.00 ERA with 19 strikeouts and two walks in 12 innings pitched. It still seems like Pagan is the Twins bullpen arm to roster for fantasy managers at this time, but Duran may be worth keeping an eye on if he continues to strike hitters out.

Fri Mar 25 202221:07Jhoan Duran, Josh Winder Could Make Opening Day Roster
Minnesota Twins right-handers Jhoan Duran and Josh Winder have a chance to make the opening day roster, according to Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic. Duran and Winder are the sixth and seventh-ranked prospects in the Twins system, as per MLB.com. Currently, the club projects to have Sonny Gray, Dylan Bundy, Joe Ryan, and Bailey Ober in the rotation with the last spot is up for grabs. The 24-year-old Duran posted a 5.06 ERA in 16 innings at Triple-A last season but produced an impressive 29.3 K%. Winder, 25, pitched to a 2.63 ERA with 80 strikeouts and 13 walks over 72 innings split between Double and Triple-A. The duo doesn't have much fantasy relevance at the moment, but either could make a good waiver wire addition if they find success.
