Sun Jul 16 202320:13Kevin Gausman Won't Start In Upcoming Series
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman (oblique) won't make a start during the team's upcoming series against the San Diego Padres. The right-hander will be shut down for a little bit in order to get some rest, according to manager John Schneider. The good new is, the Jays haven't placed Gausman on the injured list. It sounds like they will skip him once in the rotation and go from there. Alek Manoah, Jose Berrios and Chris Bassitt will start versus the Padres.

Sat Jul 15 202309:28Kevin Gausman Scratched From Saturday Start
The Toronto Blue Jays have scratched right-hander Kevin Gausman from his Saturday start against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Gausman is dealing with some discomfort in his left side and will get some extra time to rest up. Toronto will instead tab right-hander Chris Bassitt to make the start on Saturday. The Blue Jays are calling Gausman day-to-day and indicated that an MRI showed "no concerns" with the ace righty. For now, it looks like Gausman has a chance to avoid a stay on the injured list and could make a start in the upcoming few days if he shows improvement. Fantasy managers rostering Gausman will want to get him out of their starting lineups for Saturday, however. Look for the Blue Jays to update Gausman's injury status in the next few days.

Sat Jul 15 202309:26Kevin Gausman Scratched From Saturday’s Start
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman (side) is unable to make his scheduled start for Saturday's game versus Zac Gallen and the Arizona Diamondbacks with left side discomfort. Chris Bassitt, who was originally set to start on July 18 versus the San Diego Padres, moves up to start in this one in Gausman's stead. An MRI "showed no concerns", so Gausman is being deemed day-to-day. The Blue Jays and fantasy managers alike hope the ace won't need to miss too much time, but it's unclear when Gausman's next start may potentially come. The 2023 All-Star boasts an MLB-best 2.45 FIP and AL-high 153 strikeouts over 115 2/3 innings this year.

Sun Jul 9 202312:18Kevin Gausman Fires Six Strong Innings In Tough-Luck Loss
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman launched six innings of two-run ball with seven strikeouts in Saturday's 2-0 loss to the Detroit Tigers. The 32-year-old allowed only five hits and two walks, but was saddled with his fifth loss of the season. Gausman's team was on the wrong side of a no-hitter in this one, hence the unfortunate defeat to his ledger. The hard-tossing right-hander picked himself up following a two-run first frame, hurling five scoreless innings thereafter on 96 total pitches in the contest. The strikeout-throwing Gausman's first half closes with a resolute 3.03 ERA (MLB-best 2.46 FIP), 1.13 WHIP, and AL-high 153 punchouts across 115 2/3 innings overall. The 2023 All-Star has imploded a few times this year, but has compensated by posting an AL-best 14 quality starts, tied with fellow All-Star George Kirby. Gausman should take the hill again at some point next weekend versus the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Wed Jun 21 202318:06Kevin Gausman Picks Up The Win On Wednesday
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman earned the win on Wednesday when he allowed three runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and one walk over six innings in a 6-3 victory over the Miami Marlins. Gausman wasn't at his best in this one but he did enough to secure the win for Toronto. He didn't allow a run over his first three innings before surrendering a two-run double to Garrett Cooper in the fourth frame. He then came back out for the seventh inning and allowed three straight batters to reach and one run to come around. He was then replaced by Erik Swanson who didn't allow any inherited runners to score. The solid outing gives Gausman a 7-3 record, 3.10 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 127:25 K/BB ratio over 98 2/3 innings (16 starts). He'll get the Giants at home in his next turn.

Wed Jun 7 202312:13Kevin Gausman Dominates Astros Tuesday
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman was at his best on Tuesday in the 5-1 win over the Houston Astros, tying his career-high with 13 strikeouts while allowing a run on four hits and no walks in seven innings to pick up his fifth win of the season. Gausman was absolute dominant on the night and induced 36 called or swinging strikes. The only run he allowed came on a Mauricio Dubon homer in the first inning. The 32-year-old right-hander has been solid for the Blue Jays and fantasy managers this year with a 2.63 ERA (league-best 2.30 FIP), 1.07 WHIP, 18 walks and a league-high 113 strikeouts in a league-high 82 innings over 13 starts. Gausman now has 10 quality starts and six games with double-digit strikeouts. Keep rolling him out there.

Fri Jun 2 202300:45Kevin Gausman Dominates Brewers Thursday
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman was dominant in Thursday's start against the Milwaukee Brewers, leading the Jays to a 3-1 win. Gausman threw 6 shutout innings, allowing five hits and two walks while fanning 11. He had 16 swinging strikes on 115 pitches, including nine on his devastating splitter. He also hit 99.3 mph on a heater, his highest pitch velocity since 2016. This outing lowers his ERA to 2.76 and his WHIP to 1.12, and he now has a 100:18 K:BB ratio in 75 IP. All signs point toward him being a fantasy ace for the rest of the season.

Sun May 21 202319:48Kevin Gausman Tosses Eight Strong Innings
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman put together fairly strong outing versus the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday. The right-hander went eight innings, allowing six hits, and two earned runs, with four strikeouts. The strikeout numbers were down from his previous starts, but regardless it was a well pitched outing. Sadly, it wasn't enough as the Jays dropped this game 8-3 in 11 innings. Despite that, Gausman still holds a 3.14 ERA through 10 starts this season.

Tue May 16 202312:11Kevin Gausman Looking To Stay Dominant Tuesday
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman is getting the ball Tuesday to take on Domingo German and the New York Yankees. The ace of the staff is putting up another spectacular season, posting a 2-3 record with a 3.38 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 34.2% strikeout rate, second among qualified starters. The Yankees might have a threatening offense, but Gausman is good enough to handle any lineup put before him. Fantasy managers should be starting the 32-year-old every start in every format.

Mon Apr 24 202300:47Kevin Gausman Shuts Down Yankees Sunday
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman delivered a dominant performance on Sunday, earning a win over the New York Yankees. Gausman threw seven innings, allowing just three hits and striking out 11 while walking none. His splitter was especially nasty, as hitters whiffed 11 times on 20 swings on the pitch. After a rough outing in Houston, this was a great bounce-back outing. He now has a 2-2 record, 2.84 ERA, and 1.01 WHIP to go with 41 punch-outs and five walks in 31 IP. He should remain a high-end fantasy option.

Tue Apr 18 202300:23Kevin Gausman Gets Rocked Monday
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman turned in a poor start in Monday's 9-2 loss to the Astros. Gausman pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits (including two home runs) and two walks with five strikeouts. It was obviously not the result fantasy managers want to see, but even high-end pitchers have rough outings. The 32-year-old has pitched well overall this season, going 1-2 with a 3.65 ERA and a 10.95 K/9 rate. He will look to get back on track in his next start, which will be a tough matchup at the Yankees.

Tue Mar 21 202316:54Kevin Gausman Dominating Spring Training Foes
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman has yet to allow a run this spring. Through four games and 13 2/3 innings, Gausman has been nearly perfect. He has 18 strikeouts and a 0.80 WHIP. Gausman obviously can't keep up this pace, but it's nice to see a top pitching option showing he's ready for the season. He'll have his ups and downs, but with his 28.3% strikeout rate last season and 2.38 FIP, he's a great pick at his current ADP of 55. Rotoballer has him as their 47th-best player overall, so draft him for a great option in your rotation.

Sat Oct 8 202211:26Kevin Gausman Starting Game 2 Of Wild-Card Series
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman (finger) has been tabbed to start Game 2 of the American League Wild-Card Series on Saturday against the Seattle Mariners as the team looks to avoid elimination, according to manager John Schneider. Gausman departed his final start of the regular season early due to a cut on his right middle finger, but he has recovered and will try to send the series to a deciding Game 3 on Sunday in Toronto. The 31-year-old made just one start against the Mariners in 2022 and allowed two earned runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out three in five innings while taking the loss. Overall, Gausman went 12-10 with a 3.35 ERA (2.38 FIP), a 1.24 WHIP and a 205:28 K:BB in 174 2/3 innings over 31 starts in his first year in Toronto.

Thu Oct 6 202218:22Blue Jays Encouraged By Kevin Gausman's Recovery
The Toronto Blue Jays are encouraged by starting pitcher Kevin Gausman's (finger) recovery, according to general manager Ross Atkins. Gausman isn't locked into a specific game for the Wild-Card Series this weekend against the Seattle Mariners, but he remains a leading option to start Game 2 or Game 3, if necessary. The 31-year-old is throwing a bullpen session on Thursday, and as long as he doesn't have any setbacks with his lacerated middle finger, he should draw a start this weekend. If he starts Game 2 for Toronto, he'll be opposed by Seattle lefty Robbie Ray. In his lone start against the Mariners in 2022, Gausman allowed two earned runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out three in five innings pitched while picking up a loss.

Sun Oct 2 202216:16Kevin Gausman Removed From Sunday's Game
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman (finger) exited early during Sunday's contest against the Boston Red Sox. He was removed in the third inning due to what appears to be a cut on his middle finger. This doesn't sound like something that is going to limit Gausman going forward. Gausman should be fine for his next start, which is likely going to be in the playoffs.

Tue Sep 27 202200:34Kevin Gausman Earns Quality Start, No-Decision Monday
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman kept his team in the game in Monday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Yankees. Gausman took a no-decision but pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits (including a solo home run) and a walk with seven strikeouts. Gausman has now been a high-end fantasy starter for three straight seasons, going 12-10 with a 3.30 ERA and 10.54 K/9 rate through 30 starts. He will have the opportunity to wrap up the regular season on a high note with his final matchup coming at home against the Red Sox.

Fri Aug 26 202200:46Kevin Gausman Allows Four Runs In No-Decision
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman wasn't at his sharpest on Thursday despite his team emerging victorious in a 6-5 extra-inning win over the Red Sox. The right-hander tied his season-high by giving up nine hits over five innings, but was able to limit the damage to four runs since eight of the hits were singles. Gausman was able to punch out six batters without issuing a free pass as he now sits with a 155/22 K/BB and a 3.15 ERA through 134 1/3 IP in his first season north of the border. He'll look to rebound when the Cubs come to town next week for an interleague series.

Wed Aug 3 202200:37Kevin Gausman Strikes Out 10 In Tuesday's Gem
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman had an excellent bounce-back start in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Rays. Gausman pitched 8 shutout innings, allowing one hit and one walk with 10 strikeouts. This was an encouraging sign for fantasy managers, as Gausman had not pitched well overall coming back from the All-Star break. Despite his recent scuffles, the 31-year-old still has an 8-8 record with a 3.06 ERA and 10.64 K/9 rate through 20 starts this season. He will look to turn in another strong start on the road against the Twins.

Tue Aug 2 202222:03Kevin Gausman Goes Eight Strong Innings Tuesday
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman completed eight innings of work against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday, earning his eighth win in the process. The right-hander struck out ten, walked one, and allowed no runs and just one hit. Gausman's now sporting an impressive 3.06 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP, 132 strikeouts, and 20 walks across 111.2 IP. He's been dominant as of late, producing a 2.79 ERA in his last seven starts. Gausman's been big to fantasy managers all season, and nothing says that won't continue.

Fri Jul 15 202200:13Kevin Gausman Takes Loss In Return
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman (ankle) returned to mound on Thursday and allowed two runs over six innings in a 3-1 loss to the Royals. Facing a lackluster Kansas City lineup, the right-hander allowed seven hits and two walks while striking out six in the 88-pitch performance as his record dropped to 6-7 on the season. Gausman gave up both runs in the fifth on an RBI single to Edward Olivares and a solo homer to Bobby Witt Jr. as he worked around base runners in all but one frame. It was still a positive to see him out there for six innings after taking a liner off his ankle nearly two weeks ago as he takes a sharp 2.87 ERA and 1.29 WHIP into the All-Star Break.
