Sat Aug 6 202211:56Xander Bogaerts Completes Four-Hit Game Friday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts went 4-for-5 on Friday, helping his club win 7-4 against the Kansas City Royals. Each hit was a single, and he scored and drove in a run. Bogaerts hasn't provided much power to the Red Sox lineup, with just nine home runs on the season after hitting 90 from 2018-2021. He's still having a great offensive season, slashing .315/.388/.459 with 47 RBI, 59 runs, and seven stolen bases. The native of Aruba will continue to be one of the best hitting shortstops, even if fantasy managers were hoping for more home runs.

Tue Jul 26 202211:19Red Sox Not Considering Dealing Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers
Boston Red Sox president Sam Kennedy said "there's been no discussion or communication internally or externally" about trading shortstop Xander Bogaerts or third baseman Rafael Devers. The Red Sox have lost eight of their last 10 games and might become sellers rather than buyers as the Aug. 2 trade deadline rapidly approaches. However, they are still unlikely to trade two of their best players in Bogaerts and Devers. Bogaerts is expected to opt out of his deal after this season and test the free-agent market, so of the two, he'd make more sense to be traded this summer. Devers isn't eligible to become a free agent until 2024, and he also just landed on the injured list last Saturday with right hamstring inflammation.

Fri Jul 15 202208:41Xander Bogaerts Goes 2-For-4 In Thursday's Loss
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in the team's 5-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. It was his fifth multi-hit game over his last six outings. The 29-year-old owns a .317/.392/.458 slash line on the year to go along with seven home runs, 37 RBI and 53 runs. Bogaerts hasn't been lifting the ball as consistently as we'd like to see. His ground ball rate is up from 40% last year to 45.6% this year while his fly ball rate is down from 37.4% last year to 31.5% this year. He's also been the victim of some bad luck as he has a HR/FB rate of just 9% on the year.

Wed Jul 6 202200:50Xander Bogaerts Hits Two-Run Homer In Tuesday's Return
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts looked just fine in his return to the lineup in Tuesday's 8-4 loss to the Rays. Bogaerts, who sat out Monday after getting stitches to close a left thigh laceration Sunday went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, three RBI, a walk, and a strikeout. The 29-year-old has been what fantasy managers have come to expect, slashing .318/.391/.465 with seven HR, 34 RBI, and three stolen bases in 327 plate appearances. He may not be the most exciting fantasy player, but he is a solid contributor and should be in fantasy managers' lineups as long as he is healthy.

Fri Jun 24 202216:29Xander Bogaerts Gets A Day Off
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts is not in the starting lineup on Friday against the Cleveland Guardians. It's a regular day of rest for Bogaerts. Fantasy managers need to make sure to pull him from their Friday lineups. Christian Arroyo, who was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list on Friday, will jump right back into the starting lineup at shortstop while batting ninth against Guardians right-hander Cal Quantrill. Arroyo has just 17 hits in 91 at-bats (.187 average) with three home runs, 10 RBI, 10 runs scored and three stolen bases in 34 games this year for the Red Sox, so he'll be a low-upside DFS sleeper in his return.

Thu Jun 9 202218:33Xander Bogaerts, Trevor Story Sitting Thursday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts and second baseman Trevor Story are both out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Los Angeles Angels. Bogaerts returned to the lineup on Wednesday after leaving Tuesday's game early with right shoulder tightness. As far as we know, both he and Story are getting regular rest days on Thursday. Jonathan Arauz is starting at shortstop and is hitting ninth, while Christian Arroyo will get the nod at the keystone and bat leadoff against Angels right-hander Shohei Ohtani. The matchup isn't ideal, but Arroyo will have some deep-sleeper appeal in DFS out of the leadoff spot. He's hitting just .188 (16-for-85) with three home runs, 10 RBI and two stolen bases on the season.

Wed Jun 8 202221:30Xander Bogaerts Returns Against Angels
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) is back at shortstop and is hitting cleanup on Wednesday night against Los Angeles Angels left-hander Reid Detmers. Bogaerts left the game early on Tuesday with left shoulder tightness, but the injury wasn't very serious and he'll be back in there a night later. The 29-year-old has done nothing but hit this year with a .320/.388/.481 slash line, an .869 OPS, six home runs, 26 RBI, 36 runs scored and two stolen bases in 206 at-bats. He's been just as good so far in June, going 7-for-22 (.318) with a homer, four RBI and six runs scored in six games. Get Bogaerts back into your fantasy lineups in single-year leagues.

Wed Jun 8 202208:08Xander Bogaerts Exits With Shoulder Tightness On Tuesday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) was removed from Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Angels due to left shoulder tightness. After the game, Red Sox manager Alex Cora stated that Bogaerts was okay and that he was pushing Cora to allow him to play in Wednesday's game. Bogaerts initially injured his left shoulder back on May 20, when he was involved in a collision with outfielder Alex Verdugo. The 29-year-old is day-to-day for now. Over 55 games on the year, he's slashing .320/.388/.481 with six home runs, 26 RBI and 36 runs.

Sun May 29 202211:45Xander Bogaerts Doubles On Saturday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts went a combined 1-for-5 with a double and two strikeouts in Saturday's doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles. Bogaerts started Game 1 and hit out of the cleanup spot. He smacked a double and struck out twice. The 29-year-old shortstop didn't start Game 2 and went 0-for-1 in a pinch-hit appearance. Overall, Bogaerts is slashing a rock-solid .320/.390/.465 with five home runs, 20 RBI, and two stolen bases. He should start to drive in a few more runs now that he's batting cleanup.

Sat May 21 202212:48Xander Bogaerts Cleared To Play On Saturday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts (back) is in the starting lineup for the team's contest against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday. He'll be hitting out of his usual cleanup spot. Bogaerts suffered a lower back injury during Friday's game after he collided with outfielder Alex Verdugo. He was removed from the game and declared day-to-day. Luckily, he won't be missing any games following the incident. Bogaerts has been his usual, steady self at the plate so far this year. He's compiled four home runs, 16 RBI and 22 runs while hitting .326/.388/.465.

Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts (back) was injured during a collision with his teammate, outfielder Alex Verdugo, during Friday's game against the Seattle Mariners. He was removed from the game after the play. Following the game, Red Sox manager Alex Cora stated that Bogaerts was dealing with minor lower back discomfort and that he was day-to-day. The 29-year-old is slashing .326/.388/.465 with four home runs, 16 RBI and 22 runs on the year.

Mon May 16 202209:29Xander Bogaerts Would Consider In-Season Contract Offer
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts has the ability to opt out of his current contract after the 2022 season. The Red Sox were unable to ink him to an extension prior to the regular season and Bogaerts had said leading up to the year that he didn't want to discuss his contract once the year began. However, this past weekend, he told Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe that if the Red Sox front office presented a "fair" offer to his agent Scott Boras, that he would be open to taking a look at the offer. We'll see if the Red Sox are able to get something together for the 29-year-old. Bogaerts is off to a great start to the 2022 season, slashing .344/.393/.453 over 33 games.

Thu May 5 202222:52Xander Bogaerts Expected To Opt Out
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts is expected to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract after this season and become a free agent. "He's going to leave," one friend predicted of the Red Sox star. The Red Sox reportedly offered only to add one year at $30 million, which even fans and local media found insulting. With Trevor Story an obvious replacement, some are wondering whether that's why Boston made Bogaerts the low-ball offer. Bogaerts stayed for a hometown discount last time, but he's not expected to do the same again. If it indeed comes true, he'll join Trea Turner and Carlos Correa as three big superstar shortstops on the free-agent market this winter. The Red Sox are struggling as a team, but Bogaerts isn't, as he's hitting .359 with two home runs, 10 RBI and 16 runs scored in 24 games so far in 2021.

Wed Apr 27 202223:55Xander Bogaerts Reaches Base Five Times Wednesday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts was feeling it on Wednesday, collecting four hits and a walk across five plate appearances in the 7-1 blowout over the Toronto Blue Jays. The native of Aruba also scored twice and added an RBI to his ledger. The game brought Bogaerts' batting average to a scorching .397 on the season. He also has one home run, eight RBI, 12 runs, and one stolen base over his first 18 games. This kind of play at the dish, although not sustainable, shouldn't be a huge surprise to fantasy managers. The 29-year-old is a career .291 hitter with a .814 OPS, and he slashed .295/.370/.493 with 23 HRs a year ago. Bogaerts will continue providing excellent production in four categories.

Wed Apr 13 202211:24Xander Bogaerts Gets Day Off
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts (rest) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. This sounds like a routine day off, so fantasy managers don't have anything to worry about. Christian Arroyo will draw the start at shortstop and bat sixth versus lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. Arroyo doesn't bring much to the table with his bat, so fantasy managers can likely find a better streaming option on Wednesday.

Sun Apr 10 202211:40Xander Bogaerts Goes Hitless In Return To Lineup
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts (hamstring) was back in the starting lineup on Saturday against the New York Yankees and went 0-for-3 with a walk and three strikeouts. Bogaerts left Opening Day early with right hamstring tightness but returned the very next day. The 29-year-old had a rough game on Saturday, but he was solid in the season-opener, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in the loss to the Yankees on Friday. It's possible that the Red Sox give him a breather on Sunday night, although the fact that Bogaerts was back at shortstop a day later is a good sign that it's not a serious injury at all. The superstar shortstop should be in all redraft lineups as long as he's in there in the series finale on Sunday against left-hander Jordan Montgomery.

Fri Apr 8 202221:42Xander Bogaerts Leaves Friday's Game With Injury
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts left Friday's game early after injuring his hamstring. Bogaerts departed following a 10th-inning single in which he was seen favoring his leg on his way to first base. He was replaced by Jonathan Arauz at shortstop in the 11-inning loss. Boston manager Joey Cora told reporters after the game that Bogaerts was experiencing tightness in his hamstring, which led to his removal from the game. It is unclear as of yet whether Bogaerts will need a stay on the injured list, but the Red Sox should provide some clarity on Saturday after they see how he's feeling.

Thu Apr 7 202221:46Xander Bogaerts Won't Sign Extension Before Friday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts said there's no chance that he'll sign a contract extension with the team before Opening Day on Friday against the division-rival New York Yankees. Bogaerts has an opt-out clause in his current contract after this season, which he's expected to exercise in order to become a free agent. The Red Sox also failed to reach an extension with star third baseman Rafael Devers, but he's under contract through 2023. If Bogaerts departs Boston after this season, it will allow Trevor Story to move back to his natural position of shortstop. Bogaerts, a three-time All-Star, hit .295/.370/.493 with 23 home runs, 79 RBI, 90 runs scored and five stolen bases in 603 plate appearances over 144 games for Boston last year.

Tue Apr 5 202214:19Boston Discussing Extensions For Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts
The Boston Red Sox have had recent discussions with both third baseman Rafael Devers and shortstop Xander Bogaerts about long-term contract extensions. However, neither player is expecting to reach an agreement before Opening Day this week, and neither Devers nor Bogaerts want to discuss contracts during the regular season. Devers can become a free agent after the 2023 season, while Bogaerts has an opt-out clause in his contract after this year that he seems likely to exercise. The combination of Devers and Bogaerts on the left side of Boston's infield is an elite combo, but the pairing could be in their final season in 2022. RotoBaller has Devers ranked as the No. 10 overall fantasy player, while Bogaerts sits at No. 39.

Mon Apr 4 202209:47Xander Bogaerts Back In The Lineup Monday
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts is back in the team's lineup for Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Minnesota Twins. He'll be batting third in the game. The 29-year-old had been held out of the lineup since Wednesday due to general body soreness. There's no reason to believe he won't be ready for Opening Day. Last year, over 144 games, Bogaerts slashed .295/.370/.493 with 23 home runs, 79 RBI and 90 runs. He's ranked No. 6 at shortstop and No. 39 overall in the RotoBaller rankings.
