Campbell is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Phillies.

Considering Campbell's 0-for-20 stretch at the plate over his last seven games, it's not a huge surprise the team will sit him Wednesday. Danny Muno will start at third base in his place, batting seventh for the Mets.

Campbell is not in the lineup Monday against the Phillies.

Campbell will miss his second straight game following eight consecutive starts at the hot corner. The revolving door at third base continues for the Mets and manager Terry Collins in the absence of David Wright (back). First, it was Ruben Tejada who was going to see time there, but it will be Danny Muno Monday afternoon. Look for Campbell to be available to pinch-hit, if needed.

Campbell is not in the lineup Sunday against the Pirates.

Campbell had made eight straight starts since getting called up from Triple-A Las Vegas, but hasn't recorded a hit in his last five games. Manager Terry Collins will instead elect to give Ruben Tejada a try at the hot corner, a pattern that may continue if all goes well.

The Mets recalled Campbell from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.

Campbell will give the Mets another infielder with Dilson Herrera (finger) headed to the disabled list. He will start at third base Saturday against the Brewers, and could do so regularly moving forward if Daniel Murphy is used at second base in Herrera's absence. Campbell went 10-for-50 (.200) with a home run and five RBI in 17 games with the Mets earlier this season.

Campbell will be recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to replace Dilson Herrera (finger) on the active roster, ESPN New York reports.

Rather than keep Daniel Murphy at third base and give Ruben Tejada regular time at second, the team will move Murphy back to the keystone and bring Campbell up to play third base until David Wright (back) returns. Campbell has gone 22-for-50 (.440 average) with four home runs with Las Vegas this season but went just 10-for-50 with one homer in his prior stint with the big club.

Campbell was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Campbell has seen just one at-bat in the month of May, so the Mets decided to send him down to see more playing time. Johnny Monell was recalled from Las Vegas to take Campbell's place on the roster.

Campbell is not in the lineup Friday against the Nationals, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.

Aside from a homer against the Yankees last weekend, Campbell has done little offensively since his April 15 recall, going 10-for-49 (.204 average) with five RBI. He does have nine walks to six strikeouts, but it looks like Campbell's playing time could take a hit at least in the short term with Dilson Herrera coming up and pushing Daniel Murphy to the hot corner Friday.

Campbell went 1-for-3, blasting his first home run of the season, Saturday against the Yankees.

Campbell has been more than solid filling in for David Wright (hamstring). Wright is out at least another week, affording Campbell consistent playing time. When Wright returns, Campbell should stick as a bench bat.

Campbell went 1-for-5 with a run scored and played a solid third base Wednesday in place of the injured David Wright (hamstring).

Campbell should start nearly every day while Wright is sidelined, which is expected to be for 2-3 weeks. Based on his major-league history, don't expect big numbers from Campbell. However, he was red-hot in the minors when he was promoted, so maybe he carries that fine play over with him to the parent club.

Cambell was immediately recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas after David Wright was diagnosed with a pulled hamstring that landed him on the 15-day DL. Campbell was red hot to start his season in the Pacific Coast League, slashing .526/.609/1.053 in 23 plate appearances. However, his .263/.322/.358 line in 211 plate appearances with the Mets last season is probably a more accurate depiction of the production he will offer while Wright is out.

However, his .263/.322/.358 slash line in 211 plate appearances with the Mets last season is much more indicative of what to expect while he is up at the big league level.

The roster will be finalized Saturday. If the team does opt for just four bench players, they will be Kirk Nieuwenhuis, John Mayberry Jr., Anthony Recker and Ruben Tejada. The only reason for going to an eight-man pen would be to keep Buddy Carlyle and avoid possibly losing him to another team.

Campbell will get time at second base and shortstop in spring training, Adam Rubin of ESPN reports.

Campbell's versatility will be his best chance at seeing regular at bats this season as he could be able to fill in anywhere in the infield on the starters' days off. Last season, Campbell played a total of six positions in the field, as well as serving as the team's DH twice, while posting a line of .263/.322/.358.

Campbell's versatility will be a key for him in his battle to break camp as one of the Mets' two backup outfielders, Newsday reports.

Campbell, following his May 10 promotion, played six positions -- all four infield spots and the two corner outfield positions. He plans to add catching to his repertoire in spring training. Campbell wore down, hitting just .162 in August and September after sitting at .328 on July 31. He will battle Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Matt den Dekker and likely Cesar Puello to come north.

Campbell saw several starts at the hot corner while Wright was sidelined with the injury in June and August. He gets the nod Tuesday and could see most of the action there if Wright is shut down, though the Mets could try Dilson Herrera at the position.

Campbell hit a big three-run homer in Friday's win over the Cubs.

Campbell got a rare start in left field because the Cubs were starting lefty Travis Wood. Matt den Dekker will continue to start most of the time in left field, but an ancillary benefit of the Mets waiving Chris Young is that Campbell will get more opportunities.

Campbell will start in left field and bat cleanup Saturday against the Phillies.

Chris Young was designated for assignment Friday night, opening the door for Campbell to move into a platoon with Matt den Dekker in left field. The lefty-swinging den Dekker will draw the lion's share of the starts, with Campbell squaring off against opposing southpaws.

Campbell, starting in left field, went 0-for-3 but threw Jayson Werth out at the plate in the Mets' 6-1 win over the Nationals on Tuesday.

Campbell got the start with Gio Gonzalez on the hill, but it came in left with Lucas Duda starting at first. Several of the Mets beat writers have suggested starting Campbell in left with Eric Young Jr and Chris Young failing to hold on to the spot. That suggestion was reality Tuesday, though there is no guarantee that it will be more than a one-time occurrence.

Mets manager Terry Collins said Thursday that he plans to give Eric Campbell some playing time at shortstop and second base.

"Why not?" Collins said. "If he's athletic enough to play there, we gotta find out." Campbell played just two games at shortstop and just 15 at second base during his minor league career, as he's mainly been a corner infield and outfielder. However, he's off to a nice start at the plate (7-for-19) and the Mets want to find ways to squeeze him into the lineup. Realistically, he's never going to be a regular at either position.
