Tue Sep 7 202110:23Dane Dunning Begins Throwing
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Dane Dunning was able to throw 23 pitches during a live batting practice on Monday. Dunning along with Mike Foltynewicz and Drew Anderson are working their way back after testing positive for COVID-19. It sounds like Dunning might be the closest to returning out of the trio. The hope is that Dunning will be able to pitch against the Oakland Athletics on Friday. However, he'll likely only pitch an inning or two behind right-hander Glenn Otto. It doesn't sound like there is going to be much fantasy value for Dunning down the stretch.

Mon Sep 6 202120:39Dane Dunning Throws Bullpen Monday
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Dane Dunningthrew a 23-pitch live bullpen session on Monday, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports. Dunning was placed on the COVID-19 injured list on Aug. 25 after the team had a virus outbreak during a series against the Boston Red Sox. Over 22 starts, Dunning is 5-8 with a 4.31 ERA, 98 strikeouts and 36 walks across 104 1/3 innings pitched. He hasn't offered fantasy managers much during his rookie season and doesn't go very deep into games. He should be left on the waiver wire in most leagues, but fantasy managers can stream him if need be in favorable matchups.

Thu Aug 26 202108:27Dane Dunning Lands On COVID-19 Injured List
The Texas Rangers placed starting pitcher Dane Dunning on the COVID-19 injured list on Wednesday. Fellow starting pitcher Jake Latz was called up in a corresponding move and he went on to start Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Indians. Dunning is one of multiple players on the Rangers who is in COVID-19 protocols. The team had a minor outbreak of the virus during their last series against the Boston Red Sox. It hasn't been made clear whether or not Dunning tested positive or if he was a close contact, but for now he'll be out of the rotation.

Sat Aug 21 202112:13Dane Dunning Lit Up By Red Sox
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Dane Dunning struggled to hold back the Boston Red Sox offense on Friday. He went 4 2/3 innings, nine hits allowed, five earned runs, one walk, and one strikeout in the 6-0 loss. It wouldn't be shocking to see the Rangers limit Dunning over the last few weeks. He has struggled to go long in games, which means there won't be much fantasy value even when he does pitch well.

Wed Aug 4 202122:16Dane Dunning Lands On The Injured List
Texas Rangers pitcher Dane Dunning (ankle) was placed on the 10-day injured list with an ankle impingement. According to manager Chris Woodward, "it's been bothering him for a few starts." The Rangers will backdate the IL date with the intention that Dunning will miss one start. Dunning is eligible to come off the injured list on August 13. The 26-year-old owns a 4.07 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and a 93:33 K: BB across 95 innings in 2021. Demarcus Evans was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Evans owns a 5.65 ERA and 1.53 WHIP across 14 1/3 innings in 2021. The 24-year-old can be left on the waiver wire in most league formats.

Tue Aug 3 202111:01Dane Dunning Has Solid Outing Versus Angels
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Dane Dunning posted his second straight quality outing in a row on Monday. He went five innings, three hits allowed, one earned run, two walks, and three strikeouts in the 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels. The Rangers continue to limit his pitch count as he hasn't thrown over 89 pitches in any of his starts. That means, he'll likely stick in the rotation throughout the rest of the season. He'll carry 4.07 ERA, 90 strikeouts in 90 innings into his next start. He's only a low-end streaming option right now because he's not going to work late into games.

Wed Jul 28 202110:36Dane Dunning Tosses Quality Start Versus Arizona
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Dane Dunning posted a quality outing on Tuesday to help his team snap a long losing streak. He went 6 1/3 innings, six hits allowed, two earned runs, two walks, and three strikeouts in the 5-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. He'll take a 4.20 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 90/31 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Los Angeles Angels. That will be a tougher matchup for Dunning, which will make him a low-end streaming option at best.

Mon Jul 19 202102:11LEADING OFF: MLB home run leader Ohtani on mound at Oakland
A look at what's happening around the majors on today: ___ HIS TURN Major league home run leader Shohei Ohtani is set to pitch for the Angels in his first outing since tossing a perfect first inning in the All-Star Game. The two-way star hit his 34th home run Sunday in a 7-4 loss to Seattle. Ohtani (4-1, 3.49 ERA) is scheduled to start when Los Angeles begins a six-game road trip in Oakland. NO DERBY DOWNER Some players have declined to participate in the All-Star Home Run Derby over the years because they say the exertion can wear them out and wrecks their swing. Not so for Juan Soto. The Washington star has hit three home runs in three games since taking part in the Derby on Tuesday night at Coors Field. Soto connected Sunday in an 8-7 win over the Padres. Soto hopes to keep up his power surge when the Nationals open a series at home against Miami. Sun Jul 18 202108:01White Sox, RHP Lance Lynn agree to $38M deal for 2022, '23
CHICAGO (AP) — For Lance Lynn, it was pretty simple. “There’s no point in going into free agency if you know where you want to be,” he said. Lynn is enjoying his first season on the South Side of Chicago, and the White Sox feel the same way. So they solidified their relationship on Saturday, announcing a $38 million, two-year contract for the All-Star right-hander covering 2022-23. The 34-year-old is earning $8 million in 2021, the final season of a $30 million, three-year contract he signed with Texas in 2018. Lynn is 9-3 with an AL-best 1.99 ERA in 16 starts. He was acquired in a December trade with the Rangers for right-hander Dane Dunning and lefty Avery Weems. With Lynn helping anchor the rotation, the White Sox had an eight-game lead in the AL Central heading into Saturday's game against Houston. "They've put together a winner here," Lynn said. “That's what I want to be part of and help to kind of push it over the top to get a championship." Lynn will make $18.5 million in each of... [More]
