Fri Aug 27 202117:45Ian Happ Isn't Starting On Friday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ will be on the bench to begin Friday's contest against the Chicago White Sox and left-handed starter Dallas Keuchel. Happ is batting just .198 with a .301 on-base percentage, 15 home runs, and two stolen bases in 397 plate appearances this season. That being said, he's been much more effective lately, hitting .357 with a .426 on-base percentage, four home runs, and a stolen base in his last 47 plate appearances. Patrick Wisdom is moving to left field in Happ's place with Matt Duffy taking over at third base. Considering Wisdom starts most games for the Cubs, this is essentially Duffy replacing Happ in the lineup. The 30-year-old, who is batting fourth against Keuchel, is hitting .260 with a .337 on-base percentage, one home run, and four stolen bases in 199 plate appearances this season. Fantasy managers are probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help on Friday.

Wed Aug 25 202122:49Ian Happ Hits 15th Homer In Game 2 Of Doubleheader
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Colorado Rockies. Happ blasted a three-run home run off of Daniel Bard in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game and send it to extra innings. Despite the home run this evening, Happ has been a major disappointment at the plate this year and is hitting a dismal .198 with 15 home runs and 38 RBI. The outfielder has been getting plenty of opportunities to showcase himself in the second half of the season, but he hasn't made much of them and can be left on the waiver wire in all formats.

Wed Aug 25 202112:47Ian Happ Sitting In Game 1 Of Wednesday's Doubleheader
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Colorado Rockies. Left-hander Austin Gomber is on the mound for the Rockies in the game. The left-handed Happ has struggled significantly against same-handed matchups this year. He has slashed just .162/.253/.297 against lefties while slashing .205/.314/.379 against righties. Patrick Wisdom is shifting over to cover Happ's usual left field post for Game 1 of the doubleheader. Right-hander German Marquez is starting Game 2 of the doubleheader, so it's safe to expect Happ will be back in the starting lineup for Game 2.

Tue Aug 17 202122:39Ian Happ Has Begun To Warm Up
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's victory versus the Cincinnati Reds. Happ hit a pair of singles and crushed a solo home run off of Vladimir Gutierrez in the top of the sixth inning that would wind up being the game winning run. Happ has been have a rough season at the plate, but he is now hitting .280 with two home runs and five RBI over his last seven games. Happ will be getting plenty of playing time down the stretch for the Cubs, but is only an option in the deepest of leagues at the moment. For the season, Happ is hitting .186 with 13 home runs and 33 RBI.

Fri Aug 13 202123:34Ian Happ Hits 12th Home Run
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ went 1-for-3 with two walks, two runs and a two-run home run in Friday's loss versus the Miami Marlins. Happ crushed his home run off of David Hess in the top of the eighth inning to trim the Marlins lead to 14-9 at the time. Happ has gone back to playing regularly with the Cubs dealing many of their offensive starters at the trade deadline, but he hasn't taken advantage and is hitting a weak .177 with 12 home runs and 30 RBI. Happ came into the season as a sleeper on many draft boards, but he has been a disappointment and managers can feel safe about leaving him on the waiver wire.

Tue Aug 3 202123:49Ian Happ Hits 11th Home Run
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ went 1-for-3 with a walk, three runs and a solo home run in Tuesday's loss against the Colorado Rockies. Happ has had a dismal year at the plate, but with the Cubs subtracting Kris Bryant, Javier Baez, Joc Pederson and Anthony Rizzo from their offense, Happ will have plenty of opportunities to prove himself in the second half. Managers looking for a cheap option for the next two games or in DFS could consider Happ with two more games at Coors Field. He is now hitting .179 with 11 home runs and 27 RBI.

Thu Jul 29 202118:23Ian Happ Hits Homer In Loss
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ went 1-for-3 with a walk and solo home run in Thursday's loss versus the Cincinnati Reds. Happ hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to trim the lead to 7-4 at the time, but it wouldn't be enough to hold off the Reds. Happ came into the season as the Cubs leadoff hitter, but has put together a dismal showing offensively and has mostly been a bench option over the past month and a half. With the Cubs likely to deal Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez and Kris Bryant, Happ should return to a full-time role, but he is still hitting just .181 with 10 home run and 26 RBI and should be avoided in all formats for now.
