Updating a previous report, Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (leg) is being considered day-to-day with a lower left-leg issue after he was forced to exit the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the New York Yankees early. Jimenez pulled up lame after running to first base in the ninth inning, but the early indication is that he avoided a serious injury. Still, there's a pretty good chance Jimenez won't be available to fantasy managers for the start of a weekend series against the visiting Miami Marlins on Friday. The 26-year-old went 1-for-4 with a go-ahead home run, two RBI, a run scored, a walk and two strikeouts before leaving the contest in the ninth inning. Jimenez isn't going to contribute stolen bases but there's plenty of upside elsewhere when he's healthy.

The Philadelphia Phillies signed free-agent right-hander Drew Hutchison to a minor-league deal on Thursday, and he will report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Before Hutchison was released by the Toronto Blue Jays last week, he posted a 5.66 ERA, 1.80 WHIP, 29 walks and 31 strikeouts in nine starts (35 innings) for Triple-A Buffalo. The 32-year-old veteran spent part of the 2018 season with the Phillies, but he hasn't seen major-league action since 2022 with the Detroit Tigers, when he went 3-9 with a 4.53 ERA (4.93 FIP), 1.48 WHIP, 42 walks and 68 K's in 28 appearances (18 starts) over 105 1/3 frames. Hutchison will strictly serve as organizational depth. He has a 4.89 career ERA (4.53 FIP), 1.42 WHIP and 19.2% strikeout rate in 587 innings over 135 outings (99 starts) in seven big-league seasons.

Boston Red Sox outfielder Adam Duvall (wrist) will be activated from the 60-day injured list on Friday before the start of a weekend series against the division-rival New York Yankees in the Bronx. Duvall has been out since fracturing his wrist on April 10 and will have an everyday role in Boston's outfield. The 34-year-old power-hitting right-hander played in seven minor-league rehab games with Triple-A Worcester and went 5-for-24 (.208) with a double, two home runs and three RBI. Fantasy managers can only hope Duvall can be anywhere near as good as he was in the eight games before he fractured his wrist, as he had gone 15-for-33 (.455) with five doubles, a triple, four home runs and 14 RBI. He's rostered in 67% of Yahoo leagues currently, but that number should be higher.

Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said that second baseman Jorge Polanco (hamstring) is being considered day-to-day after leaving Thursday's game early against the Tampa Bay Rays with a left hamstring injury. "He's still, I think, pretty strong in the muscle, but he definitely felt something. We're going to have to pay attention to it," Baldelli said. It's good news, especially since Polanco recently returned from an injured-list stint for an injury to the same hamstring. The 29-year-old should be able to avoid another trip to the IL, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to play on Friday in the first game of a weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Polanco has played in only 30 games this year because of injury and is hitting .250 (30-for-120) with nine doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI in 126 plate appearances.

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (undisclosed) was moving slowly after hitting a ground ball to shortstop on Thursday against the New York Yankees in the second game of a doubleheader that seemed like a surefire double play. Jimenez was grimacing after making it to first base and then was pulled from the game for a pinch-runner with what appeared to be some sort of leg injury. The White Sox should provide an update on Jimenez soon, but this could be something that sends the oft-injured outfielder to the injured list. The good news is he went 1-for-4 with his sixth home run of the year, two RBI, a run scored, a walk and two strikeouts in the game before departing. For now, consider the 26-year-old as day-to-day. Jimenez entered the day hitting .258 (33-for-128) with six doubles, five homers and 22 RBI in 33 games played.

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Alex Cobb(hip) exited Thursday's meeting with the Rockies. The right-hander made it through five innings before leaving with left hip tightness, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out seven batters. Fortunately, the injury may not be as severe as initially expected, with Cobb stating postgame he's not concerned about it moving forward. The 35-year-old has played well this season, amassing a 5-2 record with a 3.01 ERA and 71 strikeouts, so hopefully, he'll be ready to go for his next scheduled start. However, there may be an official update on his prognosis in the next day or two.

Chicago Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger (knee) will travel to Arizona to face live pitching before beginning a rehab assignment. The rehab update isn't anything new. However, considering Bellinger will face live pitching first could delay his return even more. The veteran has been out of the lineup since May 15 because of a left knee injury. Of course, fantasy managers should continue to wait patiently for Bellinger's return, especially since he's hitting .271 with seven home runs, 29 runs, 20 RBI, and nine stolen bases this season.

New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) returned home for further testing on Thursday. After taking a pitch to the left wrist, the slugger exited Wednesday's game versus the Braves. He had a CT scan in Atlanta on Thursday morning. However, skipper Buck Showalter said Alonso returned to New York to "have our people look at it." At any rate, Showalter's comment doesn't sit well with fantasy managers, who were originally expecting Alonso to miss a few games. But now it appears things could be much worse, which isn't ideal, considering the 28-year-old has 22 home runs and 49 RBI in 2023.

Houston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (oblique) exited Thursday's game against Toronto. The slugger lasted one at-bat before his night ended abruptly because of right oblique discomfort. Considering Alvarez is hitting .274 with 55 RBI and 17 home runs this season, the Astros won't take any chances. Unfortunately, that means he'll surely miss time, with a trip to the injured list a possibility. At any rate, an official update should come soon.

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (wrist) was removed from Thursday's meeting with the Astros after getting hit by a pitch in the second inning. Fortunately, X-rays were negative, and he was diagnosed with a left wrist contusion. The 33-year-old, who sat out a few games recently because of a back issue, will likely miss more time. However, depending on the severity of the injury, a trip to the injury list could be on the horizon. Kiermaier is hitting .296 with 16 RBI and four home runs this season, so fantasy managers are certainly hoping that's not the case.

Houston Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. (forearm) will have an MRI on Friday, according to general manager Dana Brown. Unfortunately, the results aren't expected back until next week, so fantasy managers will need to wait a few days before learning what the future holds for the right-hander. The 29-year-old, who played well last season despite making only eight starts, was hoping to return around the All-Star break.However, considering the multiple setbacks of late, things aren't looking too promising at the moment. That said, McCullers should remain on fantasy rosters for now, at least until the results of the MRI are made public.

Chicago Cubs utility man Christopher Morel will not start for the third straight game on Thursday versus the Los Angeles Angels. The 23-year-old is losing his grip on a major-league roster spot with Cody Bellinger's return getting closer, although Patrick Wisdom hasn't hit much better lately. Morel's meteoric rise (nine homers over first 49 at-bats) has been marred by a 2-for-29 tailspin since May 24. The speedy right-hander hopes to get back in the lineup at some point during a weekend series with the San Francisco Giants. Fantasy managers in shallow leagues can let go of Morel while he's out of the team's favor, but the upside he once demonstrated means he should not be forgotten about on waivers.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell is manning right field and hitting sixth in his season debut on Thursday against the Chicago Cubs. The 24-year-old gets yet another crack at the major-league level after being overmatched to the tune of a .215 BA and .616 OPS across 522 career at-bats since 2020. Adell is taking Hunter Renfroe's (paternity leave) spot on the roster in the meantime and will have a chance to make an impression. The former No. 10 overall pick was slashing .278/.365/.593 with 18 homers, 43 RBI, and four stolen bags over 242 plate appearances at Triple-A Salt Lake in 2023. Keep a very close eye on how Adell fares during Renfroe's stead. However, it may not even last through the weekend.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (illness) has returned to the team's lineup for Thursday's matchup with the Chicago Cubs. The 29-year-old only missed Wednesday's game while under the weather. Ward looks to pick up right where he left off, as he's riding an active seven-game hitting streak. The 2022 fantasy breakout is 11-for-30 with three long balls and six RBI over the stretch. Ward is covering left field and leading off versus southpaw Drew Smyly as Anaheim aims to finish off a series sweep in the series finale on Thursday.

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor will function as the fourth batter in the team's lineup on Thursday against the Atlanta Braves. It will be only the 29-year-old's fifth start as a cleanup hitter in his career. Lindor is slashing .216/.290/.419 with 11 homers, 42 RBI, and four stolen bases during the third season of his lucrative 10-year contract with the Mets. Those are adequate numbers, but Lindor is yet to rekindle his once perennial All-Star form for the most part in New York. The two-time Silver Slugger is just 3-for-25 over his last seven games, but fantasy managers hope the shift to the four-hole augments Lindor's RBI potential. It's likely only a temporary move, however, with prototypical cleanup man Pete Alonso (hand) out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale.

The Seattle Mariners and free-agent shortstop Didi Gregorius agreed to a minor-league contract on Thursday. The 33-year-old affords the Mariners a contingency reserve and perhaps a power complement to the light-hitting J.P. Crawford at shortstop. Gregorius fizzled out with the Philadelphia Phillies when we last saw him in the major leagues, hitting .210 with a .613 OPS over 582 at-bats from 2021 to 2022. The righty masher remains off the fantasy radar for now, but he could give Seattle a lift in pop (.375 SLG as a team) if Gregorius eventually gets elevated to the bigs.

Boston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo is out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Cleveland Guardians. It was originally perceived to be a routine day off for the 27-year-old, but manager Alex Cora says Verdugo has been benched for this one due to a "lack of hustle" during Wednesday's outing. The on-base machine didn't provide enough effort running out a grounder during a fielder's choice in the seventh inning. Verdugo misses a matchup with right-hander Aaron Civale on Thursday and Jarren Duran replaces him in the leadoff spot. Fantasy managers should get the contact-oriented southpaw back for a three-game set with the division-rival New York Yankees starting Friday, when he will face three right-handed starters over the weekend.

Colorado Rockies first baseman C.J. Cron (back) said on Thursday that he is still dealing with lower-back pain, and there is no timetable for his return. Cron has been on the injured list since the middle of May and doesn't appear ready to resume baseball activities, so it might be a surprise if he's back in the big leagues by the end of June. Back issues are a serious deal, especially for a 33-year-old power hitter. Before the injury, Cron was hitting just .228 (31-for-136) with nine doubles, six home runs, 20 RBI and 19 runs scored in 36 games. He's still worth stashing in mixed leagues for his power abilities at the most hitter-friendly park in the big leagues, but fantasy managers might start running out of patience. Nolan Jones and Mike Moustakas have been sharing time at first base for the Rockies of late.

Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm (hamstring) is on track to return from the 10-day injured list this Saturday after he had a strenuous workout on the field on Thursday. Bohm is dealing with a mild left-hamstring strain and should be back for the Phillies and fantasy managers this weekend during a series against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. With Rhys Hoskins (knee) out for the year and Darick Hall (thumb) recovering from a torn thumb ligament, Bohm has been splitting time between third and first base in 2023. He'll be returning to an everyday role in Philly and a .265/.321/.403 slash line with a .724 OPS, nine doubles, six home runs, 37 RBI and 23 runs scored in 53 games. Bohm should be rostered in all but the shallowest of mixed leagues.

Philadelphia Phillies left-handed reliever Jose Alvarado (elbow) will come off the injured list on Friday. Alvarado will return to the Phillies bullpen after missing the last four weeks with left-elbow inflammation. The 28-year-old Venezuelan southpaw allowed two runs and four hits in his two minor-league rehab appearances, but he should return to a high-leverage role in the Phillies bullpen now that he's back to full health. Before his injury, Alvarado was one of the most dominant relievers in baseball with a 0.63 ERA (0.85 FIP), 0.63 WHIP, five saves, no walks and 24 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings of work. While he may be eased into save chances, Alvarado absolutely deserves to be rostered in all fantasy formats.
