LHP Robbie Erlin (Tommy John) joined the Padres for their series in Arizona and is expected to resume pitching in the instructional league that begins in a week. Erlin, who has not pitched in the majors since April 17, 2016, threw a live bullpen session earlier in the week. Another one has not been scheduled, but manager Andy Green said it was a possibility.

LHP Robbie Erlin, who has missed the entire season rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, pitched a simulated game at Petco Park and will continue throwing in the Arizona Instructional League and possibly winter ball.
