Wed Aug 11 202120:09Ross Stripling Lands On IL With Oblique Strain
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Ross Stripling (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a left oblique strain, according to Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun. In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays have recalled pitcher Trent Thornton from Triple-A and he will be active for Wednesday night's game. Stripling was forced to exit his start early on Tuesday after allowing one hit and one walk over two innings of work against the Angels. There's no word on how long he will be out, but given the fact it's an oblique injury it's entirely possible he might not pitch again during the regular season. Managers should stash him on the IL for now, but keep an eye out for updates on his timetable for a potential return.

Wed Aug 11 202108:09Ross Stripling Will Miss His Next Start
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Ross Stripling (oblique) was forced to leave his start against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday after suffering an oblique strain. He pitched just two innings in the start, allowing one hit, one walk and no runs without recording any strikeouts. After the game, Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo told the media, "I don't want to speculate but he's not gonna make his next start that's for sure." A stint on the injured list might be likely for Stripling, but at the very least, he'll miss his next turn in the rotation. As a result, Steven Matz will remain in the rotation for now, making his next start on Sunday against the Seattle Mariners.

Tue Aug 10 202123:42Ross Stripling Exits Start Early With Abdominal Injury
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Ross Stripling (abdomen) exited his start on Tuesday with left abdominal discomfort, according to Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun. Stripling allowed one hit and one walk over two innings of work, before he was replaced by Trevor Richards in the bottom of the third inning. He's looked sharp over his last three outings, going 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA, 0.857 WHIP and 21 percent strikeout rate across 16 1/3 innings of work. Managers should consider him day-to-day for the moment, and keep an eye out for further updates on his condition after the game.

Thu Aug 5 202122:34Ross Stripling Shuts Down Indians
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Ross Stripling tossed six-scoreless innings on Thursday as his club defeated the Indians 3-0. The right-hander allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out six batters in the 98-pitch effort, improving his record to 5-6 on the year. Stripling has strung together three-straight solid outings, and if not for a few blowup starts this season, he'd have a much more respectable ERA than what his current 4.43 mark suggests. The 31-year-old also holds a respectable 91/27 K/BB through 91 1/3 IP on the year as he looks ahead to his next start versus the Angels.

Sat Jul 31 202102:55Joey Votto homers for 7th straight game, 1 shy of MLB record
NEW YORK (AP) — Joey Votto homered for the seventh straight game, one shy of a major league record, and the Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Mets 6-2 on Friday night. Jonathan India went deep twice for the Reds, including a leadoff shot that came on Carlos Carrasco’s first pitch with the Mets. Acquired from Cleveland in January, the veteran right-hander finally made his New York debut after recovering from a hamstring injury. It was an up-and-down day for the Mets, who made a big deal to get Javier Báez from the Chicago Cubs before baseball’s trade deadline — and then revealed injured ace Jacob deGrom will be shut down for two more weeks because of inflammation in his pitching elbow, making it unlikely he’ll rejoin the NL East leaders before September. Báez was acquired from the Cubs along with right-hander Trevor Williams for outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong, the Mets’ first-round pick in the 2020 amateur draft. Báez is expected to join the Mets on Saturday and will play shortstop... [More]

Sat Jul 31 202100:13Ross Stripling Gets Win Over Royals
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Ross Stripling earned his fourth win of the season on Friday as his club defeated the Royals 6-4. The right-hander allowed two runs over 5 1/3 IP, striking out just one batter while giving up four hits and a walk. It wasn't his most impressive outing of the year but he did enough to improve his record to 4-6 on the season and lower his ERA to 4.75. Stripling hasn't pitched consistently enough to warrant a spot on fantasy rosters, but he will have some streamer appeal in his next outing versus the Indians.
