Coleman is dealing with back shoulder tightness, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Coleman was removed from Sunday's contest after recording just one out, and it appears the shoulder ailment was to blame. He reported feeling better today though, so it doesn't appear to be a serious issue.

Coleman left Sunday's game against the Orioles with an undisclosed injury, the Associated Press reports.

Coleman came on for Johnny Cueto with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, recording one out and giving up a hit and a walk before departing. Manager Ned Yost wouldn't reveal the reason for Coleman's removal after the game, but the Royals should provide more clarity on the matter in the coming days.

Coleman's contract was selected by the Royals on Monday.

Coleman has spent the year at Triple-A, and he'll join the Royals' active roster down the stretch to add bullpen depth. The 29-year-old has impressed at Triple-A, going 8-2 with a a tidy 1.69 ERA across 38 appearances.

Coleman was placed on waivers by the Royals on Thursday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Coleman will need to pass through waivers before the Royals will be allowed to send him to Triple-A. He will be taken off the club's 40-man roster if that's the case, further distancing him from the majors after he pitched 34 innings with the team last season.

Coleman and the Royals avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $725,000 deal Friday, Kansas City Star writer Andy McCullough reports.

Coleman is near the bottom of Kansas City's deep bullpen, but he has some decent momentum heading into 2015. He posted an ERA of 2.19 in the second half of last year, though that's less impressive when you factor in the 7.48 ERA he had in the first half.
