Fri May 20 202221:23Jake Odorizzi Played Catch Friday
Houston Astros right-hander Jake Odorizzi (ankle) was able to play catch on Friday ahead of his team's game against the Texas Rangers. Odorizzi appeared to be seriously injured against the Boston Red Sox on Monday when he went down on the field and had to be carted off, but further testing showed just a sprain in his ankle and foot area. The veteran hurler does not have a timetable for a return but he is trending in the right direction after throwing on Friday. Odorizzi has a 3-2 record, 3.13 ERA, and 21 strikeouts over 31 2/3 innings of work in 2022.

Wed May 18 202216:24Jake Odorizzi Receives Good News From MRI
Houston Astros starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi (leg) received promising results from his MRI. The exam showed some strains and sprains of some ligaments around his ankle and foot, but there was no fracture detected. Odorizzi originally feared that he had ruptured his Achilles tendon, but luckily that is not the case. The veteran stated that the MRI results were a "best case scenario." While a timeline for his return is unclear at this point, his injury is not of the season-ending variety. And to add to the good news, he's also off crutches.

Tue May 17 202216:21Jake Odorizzi Lands On 15-Day Injured List On Tuesday
The Houston Astros placed starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi (leg) on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday. Fellow right-handed pitcher Seth Martinez was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move. The injury designation for Odorizzi's move to the injured list is leg discomfort. The 32-year-old was carted off the field during Monday's game after sustaining what looked to be a significant leg injury. The injury occurred when he took an awkward step toward first base to cover the bag. There's wide speculation that Odorizzi could be out for an extended period, but he hasn't received a diagnosis yet, so we are in wait-and-see mode as of now. The veteran was off to a nice start to the year prior to the injury with a 3.13 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP over seven starts.

Mon May 16 202221:16Jake Odorizzi Carted Off Monday
Houston Astros right-hander Jake Odorizzi was carted off during the fifth inning of a Monday night game against the Boston Red Sox. Odorizzi collapsed off of the mound during the game and was in obvious pain. His leg was immediately checked on by trainers, both from Houston and the Red Sox. Odorizzi had allowed two runs (one earned) over his five innings of work before departing with the leg injury. Look for the Astros to update his status after the game. Odorizzi has a 3-2 record, 3.13 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 31 2/3 innings of work in 2022.

Sun May 8 202218:28Jake Odorizzi Tosses One-Hit Gem
Houston Astros starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi looked fantastic against the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. He went five innings, allowing one hit, two walks, and struck out five in the victory. Odorizzi was pulled after 76 pitches because the Astros wanted to get some other pitchers into the game. Over his last three games, Odorizzi has allowed one run and six hits. He's scheduled to face the Washington Nationals during his next start. That being said, Odorizzi is worth rostering while he's hot.

Thu Sep 23 202121:47Jake Odorizzi Will Start Sunday Vs. Oakland
Houston Astros pitcher Jake Odorizzi (foot) will start Sunday's game against the Oakland Athletics. The Astros right-hander will follow Zack Greinke and Framber Valdez in the rotation. He's been sidelined since September 14 due to right foot soreness. The 31-year-old owns a 4.22 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and an 86:31 K: BB across 96 innings in 2021. Odorizzi allowed two earned runs or less in six of his last seven starts before landing on the 10-day injured list. Fantasy managers can use Odorizzi as a streamer for Sunday's slate.

Thu Sep 16 202117:52Jake Odorizzi Could Return When First Eligible
Houston Astros starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi (foot) has been diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain. He told reporters on Thursday that he was optimistic he'd be able to return to the rotation after the minimum 10 days. He landed on the injured list this past Tuesday, so he'll be first eligible to return on Friday, September 24. The initial fear was that he could have suffered a Lisfranc injury, which would have sidelined him for the rest of the year. Based on the encouraging news Thursday, there's a chance Odorizzi could still make two starts before the season is over. He currently has a 4.22 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP over 22 games (21 starts) on the year.

Greinke will take Odorizzi's spot in the rotation and Odorizzi will be sidelined at least 10 days while he recovers. Over 22 games (21 starts) on the year, Odorizzi has gone 6-7 with a 4.22 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP.

Thu Aug 26 202117:43Jake Odorizzi Posting 5.21 ERA In August
Houston Astros starter Jake Odorizzi will take the mound Friday against the Rangers. Odorizzi (6-6) is currently not trending in the right direction, posting a 5.21 ERA over his last four starts and allowing opponents to hit .273 against him over his last nine outings. Has allowed 47 hits over his last 44 1/3 innings pitched and a troubling 10 home runs during that span. Odorizzi will face a last place Rangers team Friday but will not be an attractive DFS option.

Mon Aug 16 202117:02Jake Odorizzi Posting 6.75 ERA Since All-Star Break
Houston Astros starter Jake Odorizzi will try and get his season on track when he takes the mound Monday against the Royals. The veteran right-handed starter has really struggled since the All-Star break, going 2-2 with an unsightly 1.64 WHIP and a 6.75 ERA spanning five starts. He has allowed eight home runs during that stretch and has walked 11 hitters over his last 21 1/3 innings pitched. Odorizzi, at this time, is not a worthy fantasy investment.

Tue Aug 3 202115:54Jake Odorizzi Trending In Wrong Direction
Houston Astros starter Jake Odorizzi (4-5) will take the mound Wednesday against the Dodgers. The 31-year-old enjoyed a surprisingly efficient month of June, posting a 0.77 WHIP and a 2.45 ERA spanning five appearances, four of them starts. But the right-handed starter has gone in a different direction since, allowing 10 runs over his last 13 1/3 innings pitched. He has walked seven batters over those last three starts and has allowed 15 hits. Odorizzi will be a risky fantasy proposition against a potent Dodgers lineup for Wednesday.
