Thu Sep 2 202112:57Lou Trivino Expected To Be Available On Thursday
Oakland Athletics closer Lou Trivino (back) is expected to be available out of the bullpen for Thursday's game against the Detroit Tigers, according to Athletics manager Bob Melvin. Trivino has been sidelined for about a week due to a back injury. He's dealt with back spasms for the past few days, but the injury appears to be subsiding. While he's been out, both Sergio Romo and Andrew Chafin have earned saves for the team. With Trivino back, he should slip right back into the closing role for the team as Romo and Chafin continue working in setup roles. Trivino has had a strong season, pitching to a 2.55 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP while converting 21 of his 25 save opportunities.

Thu Sep 2 202108:41Lou Trivino Continues To Be Out Due To Back Spasms
Oakland Athletics relief pitcher Lou Trivino (back) hasn't pitched since last Thursday's game against the New York Yankees. Over the past week, he has been dealing with a back issue. On Wednesday, Athletics manager Bob Melvin told reporters that Trivino wasn't available out of the bullpen for Wednesday's game and a few games prior as he had been experiencing back spasms. Trivino has 21 saves on the year and is the team's primary closer. While he's been out, Sergio Romo and Andrew Chafin have both earned saves. It doesn't sound as if Trivino will be out too much longer, though, so fantasy managers don't need to rush to find his replacement at this point.

Tue Aug 24 202110:20Lou Trivino Suffers Fourth Blown Save Monday Versus Mariners
Oakland Athletics relief pitcher Lou Trivino took his fourth blown save of the season Monday when he allowed three runs in the ninth inning to take the loss versus Seattle. Trivino was called upon to protect a one-run lead and he immediately blew the save by serving up a homer to Ty France. The Oakland righty would retire two of the next four batters, but he couldn't escape the jam as he allowed a two-run single to nine-hole hitter Jake Bauers which gave the Mariners a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Trivino has been mostly good this season as he's 21-for-25 in save chances with a respectable 2.43 ERA and 1.21 WHIP, so he shouldn't be in trouble of losing the closer role quite yet. He should be rostered in any fantasy league that rewards saves.

Thu Aug 19 202119:40Lou Trivino Logs 20th Save Thursday Versus White Sox
Oakland Athletics relief pitcher Lou Trivino allowed an unearned run, but was able to nail down his 20th save of the season Thursday at the White Sox. Tasked with protecting a two-run lead, Trivino allowed a leadoff single before retiring the next two batters. That hit would come around to score on a throwing error by shortstop Elvis Andrus, but Trivino buckled down and got Eloy Jimenez to fly out to end the game. The right-hander has converted 20 of 22 save chances with a sparkling 1.79 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP. He's a must-roster reliever in all fantasy leagues.

Oakland Athletics relief pitcher Lou Trivino pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday in a win over the Rangers. Trivino allowed a walk, but slammed the door Texas to pick up his 18th save in 20 tries this season. Trivino has been one of the better closers for fantasy as he's got a 1.88 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP while collecting the majority of the saves for a good Oakland club. He should be rostered in all fantasy leagues ahead of a road trip to Cleveland.
