NEW YORK (AP) — Gary Sánchez delivered the first pinch-hit, extra-innings grand slam in Yankees history, Deivi García made a strong impression in his big league debut and New York beat the crosstown Mets 5-2 to complete a doubleheader sweep Sunday night.The Yankees stormed back in the opener, erasing a five-run lead with two outs in the seventh to win 8-7 in eight innings. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Edwin Jackson became the first player in major league history to play for 14 teams when he made his Toronto Blue Jays debut.The 35-year-old right-hander allowed three runs — two earned — and six hits in five innings against San Francisco. He struck out two, walked one, hit a batter and left after 77 pitches with the score 3-3.Toronto acquired Jackson from the Oakland Athletics on Saturday for $30,000. He became his tenure with his new team by throwing an 88 mph cutter that Joe Panik took for a called strike.Jackson had been tied with Octavio Dotel for most teams. LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Washington Nationals signed outfielder Gerardo Parra to a one-year deal Thursday for the $555,000 minimum.Nationals manager Dave Martinez said the 32-year-old Parra would start against right-handed pitchers on occasion, while also being a pinch-hitting option. Parra elected to become a free agent Tuesday after he was designated for assignment by the San Francisco Giants and cleared waivers. His salary from Washington will be offset against his $1.75 million deal with the Giants.Parra was batting just .198 with one home run and six RBIs in 30 games with the Giants this season. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Nationals have put Jeremy Hellickson on the 10-day disabled list with a right wrist sprain and recalled pitcher Jefry Rodriguez to start against the Miami Marlins.Washington made the moves before Saturday night's game. The Nationals also recalled pitcher Jimmy Cordero from Syracuse and optioned reliever Trevor Gott to Triple-A.Hellickson's DL stint, retroactive to Aug. 16, occurs as Washington remains without Stephen Strasburg, who's sidelined with a cervical nerve impingement. The 31-year-old Hellickson is 5-3 with a 3.57 ERA in 18 starts.Strasburg threw 40 pitches in a bullpen session Saturday. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Nationals hope veteran reliever Greg Holland can return to form and use his postseason experience to help Washington make a playoff run of its own.Holland has appeared in 12 postseason games, including the 2014 World Series with Kansas City. That, along with his 186 career saves, was more important to Washington than the 7.92 ERA he had with St. Louis before being designated for assignment on July 27.A day after the right-hander worked out with Washington, the Nationals announced his signing on Tuesday before facing the Atlanta Braves in a split doubleheader."He's a veteran guy that's been around and pitched in high-level situations, pitched a World Series," Nationals manager Dave Martinez said.
