Nuno pitched a strong 6.2 innings Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk with four strikeouts against the White Sox.

Nuno is not bad for a fifth starter. He'll continue to pitch in that role even though Roenis Elias was recalled from Triple-A after Saturday's game. Unfortunately for Nuno, the bullpen blew his win.

Nuno, in his third start for the Mariners, allowed four runs on nine hits and a walk in 4.1 innings Sunday with two strikeouts at Boston.

Nuno gave up two homers and was pretty mediocre overall, but the Mariners will take it considering the team's starters combined for 19 runs allowed the last two games. Nuno likely will stay in the rotation, at least in the short term, as the Mariners don't seem eager to bring up Roenis Elias to take his place.

Nuno lost his first decision of the year Monday against the Orioles, as he allowed two runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out five and didn't walk a batter.

Nuno was more than serviceable but needed 94 pitches to get through his five innings. His ERA sits at 3.00 and he has eight strikeouts against two walks in 8.2 innings in the rotation this year.

Nuno took a no decision in his first start of the season, as he allowed three runs on two walks and five hits over 3.2 innings Tuesday against Colorado.

It's tough to judge Nuno on one start in Coors Field. He was sunk by a pair of home runs but did draw eight swinging strikes in just 62 pitches and drew six ground balls against two fly balls. He still owns a 2.88 ERA and a sharp 41:10 K:BB, and the Mariners indicated a desire for Nuno to start after they acquired him in June, so he should get another chance in a more standard ballpark.

Nuno will start Tuesday against the Rockies, Shannon Drayer of 710 AM Seattle reports.

Nuno has been impressive in the bullpen this season, posting a 2.02 ERA on the season despite allowing a run in his last outing. He'll get the nod over Roenis Elias, who has struggled in his two recent starts with Triple-A Tacoma. Considering the ballpark, it's far from a safe bet to place Nuno in lineups in either daily or season-long formats.

Nuno was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Nuno will return to the Mariners after being optioned to Triple-A on Friday. In nine appearances for the big league club this season, Nuno holds a 2.53 ERA, allowing three runs over 10.2 innings.

Since joining the Mariners on June 3 via trade from the Diamondbacks, Nuno has fared well in nine relief appearances, recording a 2.53 ERA, 1.031 WHIP, and 10:1 K:BB. After it was rumored that he'd initially start with the Mariners, perhaps the move is intended to ease him into a starting role to act as depth for the big club.

Nuno, who was traded to the Mariners on Wednesday, will be used as the long reliever to start, the Seattle Times reports.

At the time of the trade, Nuno said he was told he would start. He probably will at some point, but he'll begin in the bullpen. If Mike Montgomery struggles, or if the M's decide just to send him back down, Nuno likely would get the call to the rotation.

Nuno has been told he'll be joining the Mariners' starting rotation, MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports.

Nuno was primarily the long relief man in Arizona, but with the Seattle staff dealing with a plethora of injuries, it makes sense he'll be taking over a back-end rotation role. The 27-year-old made 28 starts with the Yankees and Diamondbacks in 2014 (4.56 ERA over 161.2 total innings), so he's certainly no stranger to the role. The exact date of his first start, as well as who he replaces in the rotation, have yet to be determined.

Nuno has been traded to the Mariners in a six-player deal involving Mark Trumbo.

Nuno has made three appearances since being recalled by Triple-A Reno, allowing three earned runs over 14.1 innings and striking out 19. The 27-year-old lefty worked in long relief in Arizona, but could earn a back-end rotation spot in Seattle with James Paxton (finger) and Hisashi Iwakuma (shoulder) currently on the disabled list.

Nuno pitched 5.1 innings of solid relief Sunday before giving up a game ending home run to Martin Maldonado in the 17th inning against Milwaukee. He only allowed the one run on two hits and three walks, and struck out six.

Nuno has been good in limited action for the D-Backs' this year, posting a 1.88 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 19 strikeouts and five walks over 14.1 innings.. While his numbers at Triple-A Reno aren't quite that good, Nuno could be a candidate to move into the D-Backs rotation as they have some weak links at the moment. He would be in competition with some of Arizona's young prospects, like Robbie Ray and Aaron Blair, if they made a change.

Nuno was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Nuno will take the bullpen spot of Enrique Burgos, who is headed to the 15-day DL with right shoulder tendinitis. Nuno figures to serve as a long and middle reliever, getting most of his work in low or medium-leverage situations.

In his lone appearance with Arizona this season, Nuno pitched 6.2 innings of relief while allowing two earned runs and striking out eight. He posted a 3.23 ERA over 39 innings pitched in Triple-A, so he will now look to continue his solid play on that level.

Nuno will take the roster spot of Evan Marshall, who was optioned to Reno in the corresponding move. Nuno worked as a starter for Reno and posted a 3.23 ERA over six starts, but he will presumably work out of the bullpen with the big club.

Nuno has been very good through three starts for Triple-A Reno, posting a 2.37 ERA and 1.11 WHIP, with 21 strikeouts to three walks, through 19 innings.

Nuno would likely be the first starter recalled should the D-Backs need someone. His performance thus far is better than his minor league track record, which, considering the offensive environment of the Pacific Coast League, is all the more impressive.

Nuno struck out six and walked one while giving up two runs on five hits over 7.1 innings in his second start of the season Tuesday against Triple-A El Paso.

The left-hander was optioned to Reno late in spring training after being considered for a bullpen role by the D-backs. Since he has remained stretched out, Nuno could be used as a spot starter if injuries befall a member of the Arizona rotation in the coming weeks. Nuno has 12 strikeouts and just one walk over 12.1 innings in his first two starts this season.

Nuno is now being considered for a bullpen spot to begin the season, after beginning the spring as part of a wide-open competition for a rotation spot, the Arizona Republic reports.

With Nuno headed to the bullpen along with Andrew Chafin, the D-backs are closing in on filling the final spots in their rotation. Trevor Cahill, Robbie Ray, Rubby De La Rosa, and Allen Webster appear to be the final four candidates for the last two available spots. Nuno could emerge as an option in long relief, after working predominantly as a starter since his arrival to the Double-A level with the Yankees a few years back.

Nuno gave up two runs on five hits while striking out one batter over two innings Thursday but still came away with the win against the Rockies.

Nuno had a 4.56 ERA with 129 strikeouts over 161.2 innings last season to finish with a record of 2-12. He is in a tight competition against Jeremy Hellickson, Allen Webster, Rubby De La Rosa, Robbie Ray, and the team has several highly-regarded prospects who stand an outside chance of stealing one of starting rotation spots.

Nuno is part of a large competition for one of the final three spots in the Arizona rotation to begin the season.

After being acquired from the Yankees for Brandon McCarthy last summer, Nuno pitched well for the Diamondbacks (20.3% K%, 5.9% BB%, 3.76 ERA, 1.09 WHIP). His chances to keep a rotation spot took a significant hit with the addition of Jeremy Hellickson, Allen Webster, Rubby De La Rosa, and Robbie Ray via trade during the offseason. Further, the team has a slew of prospects on the brink of joining the big league club, so Nuno figures to have a short leash even if he emerges with one of the three available spots leading into Opening Day.
