Singleton went 4-for-6 with two home runs and 10 RBI in a game with Triple-A Fresno on Wednesday.

The numbers clearly speak for themselves, and the 10 RBI gives Singleton the Pacific Coast League lead in runs batted in for the time being. Singleton also has 11 home runs and seven doubles on the season, to go along with 22 walks in 31 games. The Astros may decide to bring him up at some point this season, but they appear content to give Chris Carter and Evan Gattis regular at-bats for the time being.

Singleton is 10-for-37 (.270) with four doubles, two home runs and eight RBI through 10 games for Triple-A Fresno.

Singleton has nine strikeouts (20.5 percent strikeout rate) but he's also drawn seven walks for a 15.9 percent walk rate. He's likely to earn a promotion to Houston at some point this season, especially if Chris Carter (.075/.159/.075) continues to struggle offensively for the Astros.

Singleton was optioned to Triple-A Fresno on Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Singleton's spring average was over .300 at one point, but he struggled mightily over recent Grapefruit League play, going 1-for-21 with nine strikeouts before his eventual demotion. The 23-year-old even admitted the move was necessary after hitting .200/.273/.320 with six doubles, four RBI and 18:5 K:BB over 50 Grapefruit League at-bats. Chris Carter figures to step in as the Astros' primary first baseman to open 2015.

Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said it's "still to be determined" whether Singleton makes the Opening Day roster out of spring training, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Singleton got close to 10 at-bats on the minor league fields on Thursday, as he is working on specific things with his swing. The 23-year-old leads Houston with six doubles this spring, but he's hitting .244 with 14 strikeouts in 41-at bats. If Singleton doesn't break camp with the team, Chris Carter would step in as the regular first baseman with Evan Gattis and Matt Dominguez as secondary options for the position.

Singleton is hitting .310 (9-for-29) with six doubles in 11 spring appearances.

Singleton got off to a slow start this spring, but he has turned things around at the plate and leads Houston with six doubles. The 23-year-old's contact issues remain (nine strikeouts this spring), but he appears to be in line to open 2015 as the Astros' starting first baseman.

Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow expressed confidence that Singleton will "do the things he needs to do to make this club," Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Singleton failed to make an impression during his rookie season with the Astros last year, hitting a mere .168/.285/.335 with 13 home runs in 95 games. While he's currently the favorite to open 2015 as the Astros' starting first baseman, don't be surprised if he ends up back in the minors if his struggles carry over from 2014.

Singleton is not expected to start any of the Astros' final three games, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Singleton's last hit came all the way back on Sept. 9, as he's 0-for-his-last-23 with 18 strikeouts over that span. The 23-year-old admitted that it's been a "very difficult" way to his end his rookie campaign, and he'll likely be relegated to pinch-hit duty for the entire Mets series, unless Chris Carter's nagging lower-back injury presents issues. Singleton has hit just .168/.287/.336 with 13 homers and 133 strikeouts in 92 games with the big club, after inking a long-term extension with the team in early June.

Singleton is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Rangers.

Singleton has struggled mightily this season, slashing just .168/.287/.336. He has just three at-bats over the team's last five games, as Chris Carter will fill in at first on Wednesday.

He has just one at-bat over the last three games, and his batting average has dipped to a putrid .169 on the season. Chris Carter will get the start at first base.

Singleton is out of the Astros' lineup again Saturday.

Singleton will ride the pine for a second straight day, following a 4-for-37 start to September. The 23-year-old has struggled to adjust to major league pitching (.169 average), but it seems likely he'll open 2015 in an everyday role, after inking a long-term extension with the club in June.

Singleton is out of the lineup Friday against the Mariners.

Singleton will get a day off following an 0-for-4 night at the plate Tuesday, wearing the golden sombrero with four strikeouts. He has been floundering at the plate recently, and is currently riding a 0-for-19 skid at the plate with 15 strikeouts over his past seven games. Chris Carter gets the start at first base while Jose Altuve takes the designated hitter spot for Friday's contest.

Singleton is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Singleton will get a day off after stating the last seven games for the Astros. Jesus Guzman will get the start at first base Sunday in Singleton's place.

Singleton is out of the lineup Saturday.

He hit his 13th home run of the season Friday, but 13 of his 49 hits have gone for homers, and he really shows no signs of getting his average over .200 (currently at .179) this season. Jesus Guzman will get the start at first base.

Singleton is out of the lineup Saturday against the Rangers.

Singleton will take a seat with a five-game hitless streak in hand, though he did draw five walks during that span. He'll be relieved at first base, at least for a day, by Jesus Guzman.

Singleton is out of the lineup Wednesday against the A's.

With lefty Drew Pomeranz on the hill for Oakland, Singleton will head to the bench for the second time in four games, opening the door for Jesus Guzman to start at first base. Singleton is batting just .186/.296/.372 with the big club this season, and while his struggles have mostly come against right-handed pitching (.160/.280/.326), manager Bo Porter may be inclined to further limit Singleton's exposure to lefties over the remainder of the season.

Singleton is not in Saturday's lineup, the Houston Chronicle's Jose de Jesus Ortiz reports.

The rookie first baseman has been playing everyday despite still sporting a sub-.200 batting average. While he still offers plenty of upside over the rest of the season for owners looking for some help in home runs, he's going to be a drain on batting average in roto leagues. Jesus Guzman will get the start at first base.

Singleton hit his 11th homer of the season, drew two walks and scored twice in the Astros' 8-1 win over the Red Sox on Sunday.

Despite 11 home runs in 66 games with the Astros, Singleton has posted an uninspiring .185/.288/.371 slash line in his rookie season.

Singleton went 5-for-9 with two doubles, a home run, three RBI and three runs scored over the weekend against the Blue Jays.

Perhaps even more impressive was he didn't strike out in the series after fanning at least once in every game he played during the month of July. Through 53 games with the Astros, Singleton is hitting .195/.282/.405 with 10 home runs, 30 RBI and a 73:22 K:BB over 185 at-bats.

Singleton is out of the lineup Friday against the Blue Jays.

Singleton had started nine games in nine days for the Astros coming into Friday, with only four hits in those games, but three of them going for home runs. He will take a seat in favor of Jesus Guzman, who will bat fifth for the Astros.
