Smith went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, and two runs scored in a win over Oakland on Saturday.
Smith has been mired in a dreadful slump since the beginning of August, so a performance like this was nice to see. Smith's last absence came Sunday against the Angels, but that wasn't much of a surprise given the left-handed Hector Santiago on the mound for the Padres.
