LHP Sam Freeman was in uniform and available Wednesday afternoon, roughly 12 hours after he was acquired by the Milwaukee Brewers from Texas for cash late Tuesday night. Freeman made six appearances for the Rangers during spring training and posted a 5.68 ERA in 11 2/3 innings of work. Texas designated him for assignment March 29.

Freeman, a lefty, had a 2.61 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 38 innings last year for the Cardinals, but he also had a 1.39 WHIP, so this isn't necessarily the type of reliever to target to lower ratios in deeper leagues.

Freeman was left off of the Cardinals' NLCS roster, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

Catcher A.J. Pierzynski will assume Freeman's roster spot in the only change from the NLDS roster to the NLCS. Freeman only got one appearance in the NLDS against the Dodgers, failing to record an out and walking the only two batters he faced.
