Freeman was traded to the Rangers on Saturday for cash and a player to be named later, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
He is out of minor league options, and the Rangers have much more of a need for bullpen arms than the Cardinals, so this makes sense. Freeman, a lefty, had a 2.61 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 38 innings last year for the Cardinals, but he also had a 1.39 WHIP, so this isn't necessarily the type of reliever to target to lower ratios in deeper leagues.
