INF Darwin Barney was placed on the Family Medical Emergency List.

IF Darwin Barney will be leaving the team to deal with some personal issues, manager John Gibbons said after the game. No other details were given out other than IF Ryan Goins will come up from the minors to take his spot.

INF Darwin Barney was 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs in his first career start in left field, playing there when Michal Saunders (personal business) and Ezequiel Carrera (Achilles) were unavailable to start. Barney told reporters he made his last appearance in left field while playing with the 2006 U.S. National team, when his teammates included David Price, Jake Arrieta, Brandon Crawford, Pedro Alvarez, Todd Frazier and Zack Cozart. Carrera has not played since Saturday.

He pitched the 19th, giving up what proved to be the winning home run to DH Carlos Santana. He had one strikeout. He also was 3-for-8 with a double. "Honestly, we were just thinking to be efficient, don't hit anybody," Barney said. "You don't want to injure anybody in a situation like that where I'm just filling in an inning. They ask you to pitch and you just try to throw strikes. ..It was unfortunate we were in that situation, we had plenty of opportunities to finish the game off, get the hit and we didn't. It's our own fault we had to go out there and pitch."

SS Darwin Barney had two of the Jays' three hits on Monday. Barney had a pair of singles against Detroit starter Michael Fulmer, the only hits Fulmer gave up. Barney, filling in for injured Troy Tulowitzki, is hitting .337 while hitting ninth. "I"m just trying to put up good at-bats at the bottom of the order and set things up for the guys at the top," he said.

SS Darwin Barney hit his first career home run against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, a solo shot in the third inning. He now has eight career road homers at eight different ballparks.

INF Darwin Barney was 3-for-3 with a walk in the Blue Jays' 7-0 win over the Yankees on Wednesday to extend his hitting streak to five games (9-for-17, .529). It was his first three-hit game since July 8, 2014.

INF Darwin Barney started at second base against Texas Rangers LHP Martin Perez, a 3-1 win in 10 innings for Toronto. Manager John Gibbons said Barney, a right-handed hitter, has earned more playing time and he will platoon at second base with INF Ryan Goins, a left-handed hitter. Both are excellent defensively. Barney is batting .281 after going 0-for-3 in the game while Goins was hitting .160. Goins entered the game defensively in the 10th after OF Ezequiel Carrera batted for Barney in the ninth and walked. The situation could change in the next few weeks when 2B Devon Travis returns from shoulder surgery performed in November. Travis opened last season as the starting second baseman but a shoulder injury limited his season to 62 games.

INF Darwin Barney started at third base for Toronto on Friday due to Josh Donaldson's calf injury.

2B Darwin Barney, 30, signed with the Blue Jays on Friday on a a $1.05 million, one-year contract. He hit two homers in 15 games for Toronto after being acquired from the Dodgers on Sept. 13. He batted .277 with four homers and 31 RBIs in 96 games at Triple-A. Barney is a .246 hitter with 21 homers and 157 RBIs in six major league seasons.

Barney was acquired by the Blue Jays on Sunday from the Dodgers in exchange for a cash or a player to be named later, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.

With Troy Tulowitzki out indefinitely after suffering a small crack in his left shoulder blade, the Blue Jays are looking to add some depth to the middle infield. Barney won't be eligible to play for the Blue Jays in the postseason, but he should provide a quality glove at shortstop while the team looks to hold off the Yankees for the AL East crown. Barney will be available for Sunday's series finale versus the Bronx Bombers.

Barney has accepted his outright assignment and has reported to Triple-A Oklahoma City, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.

No longer part of the 40-man roster, Barney will provide organizational depth up the middle.

Barney was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Friday, Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles reports.

With Ronald Torreyes coming aboard via trade from Toronto, Barney got the bump, which is hardly surprising considering his .214/.273/.259 batting line in 121 plate appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. Barney's glove has carried him throughout his career, but it may not be enough to land him on another club's 40-man roster.

Barney is batting just .217/.273/.272 for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The all-glove, no-bat Barney is in jeopardy of losing his spot on the 40-man roster given his lack of hitting and the abundance of talent the Dodgers have in the infield.

Barney was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

The Dodgers had to clear room on the roster for a fifth starter (David Huff), and Barney was the casualty. Barney won a Gold Glove in 2012 but has hit just .245/.293/.336 in parts of six seasons at the major league level.

Barney was replaced in Sunday's game after going 0-for-3 from the plate.

Barney has only had four at-bats so far this season, and Sunday was his first start, but he was pinch-hit for by Justin Turner. He hardly made the Opening Day roster in the first place, so Barney shouldn't be owned in most leagues.
