RHP Dillon Gee will be called up from Triple-A Round Rock to replace RHP A.J. Griffin (left intercostal strain) who left his start during the second inning Friday in the 7-6 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Gee is 3-4 with a 3.88 ERA in nine starts at Round Rock. He is 48-46 with a 4.13 ERA in 147 major league games (124 starts).

RHP Dillon Gee (thoracic outlet syndrome) is due to undergo surgery on Oct. 11 after experiencing two blood clots. It is iffy on whether he will be at 100 percent when spring training begins.

RHP Dillon Gee, who was hospitalized for two blood clots after a Sept. 25 relief appearance at Detroit, was in the Royals clubhouse. He is scheduled for thoracic outlet syndrome surgery on Oct. 11. He said he hopes to be ready for the start of spring training, but acknowledged that might be pushing it. "It's been a rough week," Gee said. "I couldn't catch my breath the whole time I was pitching (against the Tigers). I was exhausted. I couldn't figure it out."

RHP Dillon Gee was awarded the victory after starter RHP Edinson Volquez didn't last long enough Sunday to benefit from the Royals' 19-hit attack. "Dillon's only had two days off since the last time that he threw," manager Ned Yost said. "He came in and did a great job by giving us 2 2/3 innings." He did allow two runs on four hits, but he quieted Detroit's bats as Kansas City added onto its lead.

RHP Dillon Gee lasted only 3 1/3 innings, the second-shortest start of his career. He issued a season-high four walks.

RHP Dillon Gee (6-7, 4.34 ERA) will try to continue his recent success when he takes the mound Monday against the Oakland Athletics. Gee is 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA in his last five appearances (four starts). He has walked two and struck out 16 in 25 1/3 innings during that span.

RHP Dillon Gee was listed as the Sunday starter, but was used in the seventh, pitching a scoreless inning. Gee will instead start Tuesday at Minnesota, while RHP Edinson Volquez will start Sunday against the Tigers. With the off-day Thursday, Volquez will be working with his normal rest.

RHP Dillon Gee limited the Yankees to four hits and one run over six innings to claim the victory Monday. He retired the leadoff batter in all six innings. All five base runners off him reached after two out. He held the opponent to one or no walks for the eighth time in a dozen starts this season.

RHP Dillon Gee opens the Royals' three-game home series against the New York Yankees on Monday night. Gee, 2-2 in August to raise his record to 5-7. The former New York Met is 2-1 with a 3.04 ERA lifetime against the Yankees and enters this start 45-44 overall lifetime.

RHP Dillon Gee pitched well Wednesday at Miami until a shaky sixth inning. In the end, he lasted 5 1/3 innings and allowed five hits, no walks and three runs. He pitched five scoreless innings to open the game but then ran into trouble, boosting his ERA this season to 4.55.

RHP Dillon Gee (5-6, 4.52 ERA) will start on Wednesday against Miami. He is coming off his best start of the year, allowing just one run in seven innings.

RHP Dillon Gee claimed his first victory as a starter since May 31. He struck out seven Twins, matching his season high, and lasted seven innings, which was a season high. He yielded one run on five hits and a walk. "He's kind of filled that (fifth rotation) spot for us, quite effectively," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "We're getting a pretty good idea that we're going to get a good five, six or seven innings out of him."

RHP Dillon Gee lost to Minnesota in his last start, and he gets a chance to avenge that defeat when he faces the Twins at Kauffman Stadium on Thursday. Gee allowed five runs on 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings in a 5-3 setback Saturday at Target Field. Gee is 2-6 in nine starts this year, and he hasn't collected a win as a starter since May 31. In his past five starts, the offense has only produced seven runs for him. He is 1-2 with a 4.74 ERA in four career outings against Minnesota.

Gee was penciled in to start Saturday at Minnesota, but that is in jeopardy. The Saturday starter is listed as TBA. "We've got some guys we're considering," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "Dillon Gee is still in the mix. We're going to see how he feels." Yost said it "would have been a perfect scenario" if Gee pitched only one inning to start him against the Twins, but after Jarrod Dyson led off the 13th with a triple the Royals failed to score. Gee has to pitch another inning. "It makes it a little bit more murky," Yost said. "He was supposed to throw a side today. Last night was a little more effort than he might throw on the side. Depending on how he feels, he still might be ready to go."

RHP Dillon Gee was scheduled to start Saturday at Minnesota, but manager Ned Yost said that is "iffy" after he threw the final two innings Wednesday to pick up the victory over the White Sox. Gee struck out three in two spotless innings. He threw 32 pitches, 21 for strikes.

RHP Dillon Gee held the Blue Jays to three runs over six innings for his first quality start since April 27, 2015 with the Mets. He limited the Jays to 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and opponents are batting .219 off him with RISP for the season.

RHP Dillon Gee lost his third consecutive decision despite having his longest outing of the year at six innings. Gee has struggled in the rotation with Kansas City, going 2-5 with a 6.35 ERA. He thought he pitched well Sunday despite giving up four runs in six innings. "I made a couple of mistakes that they obviously capitalized on," Gee said.

RHP Dillon Gee gave up five runs on 10 hits and two walks in five-plus innings to take the loss. He is 2-4 with a 6.43 ERA in six starts this season. The Royals continue to search for a reliable No. 5 starter. They are 8-18 in games the No. 5 starter works.
