Wed Apr 29 201517:37Jordan Schafer: (Knee) Says He's Fine
Schafer said his knee was fine after Wednesday's game, even though it was reported earlier that he sprained his MCL, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.
Schafer hurt his knee when he planted and slipped while trying to run to second in Wednesday's game. He will get further testing either Wednesday or Thursday, but it sounds like the injury may not be that serious. Shane Robinson was his replacement in center field and would get some starts if Schafer misses time. Aaron Hicks and Eddie Rosario would both be options to get the call from Triple-A if the injury turns out to be serious, but again, Schafer said he's fine.

Schafer left Wednesday's game against Detroit with a sprained MCL in his right knee, Fox Sports North reports.
The injury is described as mild, but it sounds like he could miss some time. He was 1-for-3 before suffering the injury running to first base. He was replaced by Shane Robinson, who would likely take over everyday center field duties if Schafer is sidelined.
Sun Apr 26 201513:47Schafer out of lineup Sunday against Mariners
Schafer is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mariners, LaVelle E. Neal of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Schafer's ample speed makes him a solid defensive option in center field with the Twins, but his lack of impact with the bat (.132/.154/.158 this season) seems to be grating on manager Paul Molitor. The 28-year-old will sit out a second straight game while Shane Robinson gets another opportunity in center field.
Sat Apr 25 201517:37Schafer out of lineup Saturday
Schafer is out of the lineup Saturday, the Star Tribune's LaVelle E. Neal reports.
Ideally Schafer would be a fourth outfielder on a contending team, but on the Twins he occupies the strong side of a center field platoon. He heads to the bench Saturday with lefty James Paxton pitching for the Mariners and will be replaced in center field by Shane Robinson.
Tue Apr 21 201516:50Schafer out of lineup for Tuesday's game against Royals
Schafer is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals, LaVelle E. Neal of the Star Tribune reports.
With the Twins facing Royals lefty Jason Vargas, Schafer will give way to Shane Robinson, who has been getting most of the playing time against southpaws. While Twins manager Paul Molitor said it isn't a strict platoon situation, Schafer hasn't done himself any favors with a slow start.
Sun Apr 19 201511:25Schafer not in Sunday's lineup against Cleveland
Schafer is not in Sunday's lineup against Cleveland, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Schafer will sit against a lefty starter with right-handed hitter Shane Robinson getting the start. Manager Paul Molitor has said center field won't be a strict platoon, but Schafer's early struggles (hitting .143) could open more playing time for Robinson.
Thu Apr 16 201511:08Schafer not in starting lineup Thursday
Schafer is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Fox Sports North's Tyler Mason reports.
He will sit with a lefty on the mound, and Shane Robinson will get the start in center field. Everybody knows Schafer can run, but he has not been getting on base much in the early going (.182 OBP), which is why he has zero steals through 22 at-bats. Over that stretch he has eight strikeouts and zero walks, which is not a good recipe for a player with a fringe-average hit tool to compile steals.

Schafer went 1-for-5 with a pair of RBI in the Twins' win over the White Sox on Friday.
With four games in the books, Schafer has started each time out for the Twins, manning center field and batting ninth. He's gone 3-for-13 in the tiny sample, and still waiting to attempt his first stolen base of the season.

Schafer appears set to win the starting center field job with Aaron Hicks sent to Triple-A, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
It's possible that Schafer could platoon with Shane Robinson. It's also possible the Twins could acquire a veteran cut by another team late in spring training as the team doesn't seem happy about the position. However, Schafer looks set for an increase in expected playing time in almost any scenario with Hick's demotion.

Schafer is hitting just .231 (3-for-13) this spring but remains in the running for the starting center field job, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Schafer is battling Aaron Hicks and Eddie Rosario for the job. Hicks is hitting .357 (5-for-14), but has made several mental lapses on the basepaths. Rosario is a late addition to the competition, but he hasn't played above Double-A. As a result, Schafer could begin the season with the job or in a platoon with Hicks (as Hicks struggles against right-handed pitchers). Even if he doesn't win the job, Schafer should make the roster and would have value as a reserve outfielder with his ability to steal bases.
Fri Jan 23 201515:54Schafer agreed to one-year
Schafer agreed to a one-year, $1.55 million contract with the Twins on Friday, avoiding arbitration, FOX Sports North's Tyler Mason reports.
Schafer was an afterthought while with the Braves last season, logging just 80 at-bats in 63 games over the first four months of the season. The 28-year-old was given a chance at regular time after joining the Twins on a waiver claim in August, and he made the most of the opportunity, batting .285/.345/.362 with 15 steals (20 attempts) in 41 games. A starting role to begin 2015 is still by no means guaranteed, but Schafer should compete for the job in center during spring training.

Sat Sep 27 201416:01Schafer (elbow) not in lineup for Saturday's game against Tigers
Schafer (elbow) is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers, according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Schafer's elbow is not believed to be serious, but he is apparently still too sore to play. Chris Herrmann will get another start in left field in Schafer's place.
Fri Sep 26 201417:10Schafer (elbow) won't need MRI
Schafer (elbow) won't need an MRI, as the Twins don't believe the injury to be that serious, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports.
He's not in the lineup Friday, and while it may not be serious, it could still be enough to sideline him for the final games of the season. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Fri Sep 26 201416:01Schafer (elbow) remains out of lineup Friday against Tigers
Schafer (elbow) remains out of the lineup Friday against the Tigers, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Despite his attempts to batting through a hyper-extended right elbow, suffered Sept. 15, Schafer's condition hasn't improved and he's now set to miss a third straight start. Chris Herrmann will once again man left field in his absence.

Schafer is dealing with a hyper-extended right elbow that occurred on Sep. 15, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Schafer had "been trying to battle through it," but it hadn't gotten better, and he has sat the last two days as a result. With the season winding down and the Twins out of playoff contention, it wouldn't be surprising if he sits for the Twins' final three games.
Thu Sep 25 201416:24Schafer out of lineup Thursday against Tigers
Schafer is out of the lineup Thursday against the Tigers, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Manager Ron Gardenhire will give September call-up Chris Herrmann some rare playing time in left field, as Schafer heads to the bench for the third time in four games. Schafer's at-bats figure to remain inconsistent during the season-ending series with the Tigers, with the Twins content to shuffle some of their underutilized players into the mix before packing it in for 2014.
Wed Sep 24 201410:53Schafer out of lineup Wednesday against Diamondbacks
Schafer is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, LaVelle E. Neal of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Schafer will miss his second game in three days, with Aaron Hicks getting the start in left field due to the left-handed pitcher Vidal Nuno scheduled to start. He started off strong with his new team, batting .333/.405/.427 in August and with 10 RBI and 11 stolen bases, but has really slowed down in September, collecting just 12 hits in 55 at-bats.
Mon Sep 22 201416:45Schafer not in lineup Monday
Schafer is not in the lineup Monday, Fox Sports North's Tyler Mason reports.
Schafer has played everyday down the stretch for the Twins, but over the last week his average has dropped from .308 to .288, so he's cooling down after his hot start with Minnesota.
Sat Sep 13 201412:39Schafer not in lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader agai...
Schafer is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the White Sox.
With lefty Jose Quintana on the hill for Chicago in Game 1, manager Robin Ventura will turn to Aaron Hicks to man left field. Look for Schafer to be in there to face right-hander Scott Carroll in the nightcap.
