After starting July with a flourish, Moya has gone 3-for-27 with 8 strikeouts in his last seven games and sits with a .225/.281/.426 slash line.
He has 109 SO in 333 combined innings (A+/AAA) and has struggled to just a .188 average at home this season. He has spent considerable time this season working on his mechanics, but he is still prone to long stretches of inconsistent performance. The Tigers are likely to leave him at Triple-A to continue to work out the kinks in his swing -- they promoted Jefry Marte instead of Moya when Miguel Cabrera hit the disabled list.

Moya went 2-for-4 with two solo homers for Triple-A Toledo on Monday, giving him six long balls in the last eight games.
The 23-year-old outfielder has struggled with strikeouts this season, fanning 101 times in 306 at-bats, but he's showing good power overall with 15 home runs and 54 RBI over 77 combined games with the Mud Hens and in a brief rehab stint at High-A Lakeland earlier this year. While the Tigers are looking for options to contribute to their offense in the absence of Miguel Cabrera (calf), Moya is seemingly blocked by his lack of experience at first base (he's never appeared at the position as a professional) and by the presence of Victor Martinez, who remains entrenched as the DH in Detroit for the time being.

Moya went 3-for-6 with a homer, a pair of doubles, and five RBI across both games of Triple-A Toledo's doubleheader on Tuesday.
Moya's .244/.294/.415 line across 178 plate appearances with Toledo is right around league-average production, but he's done well to pick himself up after a slow start to the season that may have been attributed to his bout with plantar fasciitis. The 23-year-old has recorded at least one hit in eight of his 10 games in June.

Moya (heel) returned to the Triple-A Toledo lineup Saturday, going 0-for-4 in his season debut.
Moya hit the 7-day disabled list to begin the season after he was slowed by plantar fasciitis in his right foot coming out of spring training. The Tigers were apparently satisfied enough with his results during his rehab assignment at High-A Lakeland (11-for-40 with three homers) to slot him back in at Toledo, where he'll rank among the team's top call-up candidates for the big club should the Tigers need an extra outfielder at some point.

Moya (heel) went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in a rehab game with High-A Lakeland on Thursday.
Most likely, he'll take a few days in the lower levels of the Tigers' system before rejoining the lineup at Triple-A Toledo. The game action Thursday was Moya's first of the minor league season.
Sat Apr 4 201515:25Moya has plantar fasciitis and will start seaosn on DL
Moya has plantar fasciitis and will start the seaosn on the DL, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
This doesn't hurt Moya's long-term outlook as a prospect, it just might delay his major league debut. He wasn't guaranteed to make the big leagues this season, but the Tigers will want to take care of him given how shallow their system is behind him.
Sun Mar 22 201517:30Moya optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday
Moya was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Moya entered camp a long shot to make the 25-man roster out of camp, and back spasms didn't help his cause. He will start the season back at Triple-A, but could see some time in the majors this season should one of the outfielders suffer an injury.

Moya (back) has checked out fine and will be available off the bench Wednesday, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Moya sat out of Tuesday's game due to back spasms, but it appears the issue has subsided and he will once again be available. He should be fine moving forward, though back spasms can resurface.
Tue Mar 3 201516:32Moya did not play in Tuesday's spring game due to back spasms
Moya did not play in Tuesday's spring game due to back spasms, MLB.com's Jason Beck reports.
Moya, who is competing for a reserve spot on the Tigers' roster, will be reevaluated Wednesday. It remains to be seen if the setback will cost him any further action.
Sat Jan 31 201511:12Moya will likely open season at Triple-A Toledo
Moya will likely open the season at Triple-A Toledo, MLive.com reports.
The addition of Yoenis Cespedes and Anthony Gose via trades this offseason has put the Tigers in a position where Moya would be pressed to serve as more than the team's fifth outfielder to begin the season. As a result, it's more likely that he'll be developed with everyday at-bats in the minors to begin the year, while Tyler Collins has the inside track to earn the final spot on the bench. Moya's plate discipline is still a work in progress, but he has excellent power and could be considered as an option to leapfrog Collins if injuries strike and the Tigers need a regular for one of the corner outfield spots.
Mon Sep 1 201410:23Moya named Double-A Eastern League MVP
Moya has been named the Double-A Eastern League MVP, reports milb.com.
Moya's 34 homers and 102 RBI tied league records while his 277 total bases set a new one. He broke out big this season, showing what he can do when he makes contact, but has serious plate discipline issues that will be tested at the Major League level.

Moya will be recalled from Double-A Erie in advance of Monday's game against the Indians, MLive.com's Chris Iott reports.
The 22-year-old Moya established himself as one of the premier power threats in the minors this season, swatting 35 homers in 133 games with Erie entering play Sunday. His plate discipline still leaves a lot to be desired and may lower his ceiling at the major league level, but he'll at least provide the Tigers with a home-run threat off the bench in September.

Moya hit a home run for the third game in a row Wednesday for Double-A Erie, his 33rd of the year.
Moya is on the back end of the home run leaders' race, behind Joey Gallo and Kris Bryant, both with 40, and a few others. He has an outside chance of tripling his previous high of 13 in a season. The power breakout is impressive, as are the caveats given his extreme lack of plate discipline and patience.
Sat Jul 5 201410:17Tigers OF prospect Moya rips 2 more homers
Tigers outfield prospect Steven Moya went 3-for-7 with a double and two home runs for Double-A Erie on Friday.
Moya is hitting .265/.287/.543 with 23 doubles, two triples, and 20 home runs for the season. His power is legit, but he has an overly-aggressive approach at the plate, and fails to make consistent contact, as is shown by his 94 strikeouts in 328 plate appearances (28.7 percent) and his nine walks (2.7 percent) for the season. He is currently leading the Double-A Eastern League in home runs, and could be in line for a promotion to Triple-A Toledo.

Tue Jun 17 201411:14Tigers OF prospect Moya rips 14th home run
Tigers outfield prospect Steven Moya went 3-for-5 with a home run on Monday, raising his season line to .266/.290/.524.
Moya has the power to hit 20-plus home runs, but may have the most aggressive approach in professional baseball, as he has eight walks (3.0 percent) and 74 strikeouts (74 percent) in 264 plate appearances. Despite his obvious power, he will need to tone down his approach in order to have a chance at a promotion.

Mon Jun 2 201412:46Moya stays homer happy
Tigers prospect OF went 3-for-4 with his 11th home run of the season on Sunday for Double-A Erie.
Few minor leaguers have as much raw power as Moya, as the left-handed hitting slugger has now amassed 15 doubles, two triples and 11 home runs through his first 52 games. The 22-year-old, who is known for being streaky, has been on fire lately, as he's batting a robust .462/.475/1.026 with six home runs, 12 RBI and four stolen bases during his current 10-game hitting streak. The streak has raised his season batting line to .279/.301/.543 through 52 games, but Moya's massive swing and overaggressive approach has also produced an ugly 56/9 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 206 plate appearances.

Fri Mar 14 201416:55Steven Moya optioned to Double-A
Tigers optioned OF Steven Moya to Double-A Erie.
Moya impressed this spring, batting .350/.381/.550 over 12 games. However, he's yet to play above A-ball and obviously needs more seasoning.

Fri Feb 28 201417:06Steven Moya goes 3-for-3 for Tigers
Tigers prospect Steven Moya went 3-for-3 off the bench Friday against the Yankees.
Moya was added to the 40-man roster in November after hitting .255/.296/.433 with 12 homers in 365 at-bats for Single-A Lakeland last year. He has ample power potential, and he should boost his homer total now that he's out of the Florida State League, but because of a flawed approach at the plate -- he had a 106/18 K/BB ratio last year -- he's a long shot to become a major league regular.
