ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Texas Rangers outfielder Ryan Rua has agreed to an $870,000, one-year contract to avoid salary arbitration.In four stints with Texas last season, Rua hit .217 with three home runs and 12 RBIs over 63 games. The right-hander, who has spent parts of the last four seasons with the Rangers, played left field and also appeared some at first base last year. LF Ryan Rua returned to Triple-A Round Rock for the second time this season.Rua did not play during his most recent stay with the Rangers. He rejoined the roster on July 31 but went 10 games without playing. The Rangers demoted Rua to clear a spot for starting pitcher Tyson Ross, who was activated from the 10-day disabled list.

Rua led off the third inning with a home run to left against A's LHP Eric Surkamp. Rua went 2-for-3, drove in three runs and scored twice, batting cleanup for the first time this season. "I'm just trying to stick to my routines and do the same things no matter where I'm at in the lineup," Rua said.
