Ramirez (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Monday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
Ramirez hit the DL in mid-April with inflammation in his right shoulder. He's progressing in his recovery, but he remains without a timetable and the prevailing belief is that he's still at least a couple of weeks away from coming off the disabled list.
Tue May 5 201518:35Ramirez (shoulder) will throw off mound Wednesday
Ramirez (shoulder) will throw off a mound Wednesday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
A bout of right shoulder inflammation pushed Ramirez to the DL in mid-April, after just five appearances out of the Chicago bullpen. He's been able to play catch in recent weeks without issue, but the team will likely want to see him throw from elevated ground several times before plotting out a rehab assignment.

Ramirez is slated to begin throwing bullpen sessions in the near future, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Ramirez was placed on the DL in the middle of April after developing inflammation in his throwing shoulder, but his condition appears to have turned a corner in recent days. The right-hander had previously been limited to throwing off flat ground since suffering the injury.

Ramirez has been placed on the DL after an MRI revealed right shoulder inflammation, Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago reports.
Ramirez's time out of action could run longer than his DL stint given how nagging shoulder injuries can be. It's also not a given he'll be 100 percent when he returns.
Thu Apr 16 201512:48Ramirez (shoulder) will have MRI Thursday and manager Joe Maddon...
Ramirez (shoulder) will have an MRI Thursday and manager Joe Maddon was not optimistic about Ramirez's injury following Wednesday's game, ESPN Chicago's Jesse Rogers reports. "It's nothing real positive I don't think," Maddon said. "I don't like to go to negative town too quickly but we'll see."
Ramirez threw three pitches to Joey Votto in Wednesday's game before summoning the trainer and leaving shortly after with shoulder discomfort. His fastball was clocked at 90 mph, which is well below his norm, so it seems likely that a long DL stay is on tap. Should Ramirez get placed on the DL, Kris Bryant could be called up Friday as a corresponding move.

Ramirez was removed from Wednesday's game in the ninth inning with right shoulder discomfort, Bruce Levine of WSCR-AM reports.

Ramirez gave up two runs on two hits and a walk in one-third of an inning against the Mariners on Saturday.
It hasn't been a great spring for Ramirez, as he's given up four runs, six hits, and three walks in 3.2 innings. On the plus side, he's also struck six. He's set to be one of the top setup men in the Cubs' bullpen this year, but manager Joe Maddon would likely turn to Jason Motte or Pedro Strop for a save opportunity if Hector Rondon isn't available.
Sun Aug 10 201411:09Neil Ramirez: (Triceps) Activated From DL
Ramirez (triceps) was activated from the 15-day DL on Sunday, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Triceps soreness forced Ramirez to the DL late last month, but he made it through a pair of rehab appearances without issue and will return to the Cubs' bullpen Sunday after missing the minimum 15 days required by his DL stint. The 25-year-old has posted outstanding numbers this season (0.96 ERA, 0.93 WHIP) and would be a top candidate to close should Hector Rendon get injured or falter in the role.

Ramirez (triceps) will head to rookie-level Mesa to begin his rehab when the Cubs go on the road Friday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
The Cubs initially optioned Ramirez to Triple-A Iowa, but ended up rescinding that move and instead placed the right-hander on the 15-day DL with a sore triceps. It sounds like Ramirez has already been cleared to begin ramping things back up, however, putting him on track to return Aug. 10, after the minimum 15 days required by his DL stint. The 25-year-old has posted outstanding numbers this season (0.96 ERA, 0.93 WHIP) and could get a chance to close before the end of the year.

Sat Jul 26 201413:04Cubs option Neil Ramirez to Triple-A Iowa
Cubs optioned RHP Neil Ramirez to Triple-A Iowa.
In a bit of a head-scratching move, the Cubs demote their best reliever to Triple-A. They want to play things cautiously with the workload that the young right-hander shoulders this season, but the 25-year-old has been outstanding with a 0.96 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 36/10 K/BB ratio over his 28 innings of work.

Sun Jun 15 201416:20Ramirez earns his third save against Phillies
Neil Ramirez worked a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save against the Phillies on Sunday.
Ramirez has now saved three games for the Cubs and appears to be manager Rick Renteria's first choice for closing games. On Sunday, he got Marlon Byrd to fly out, Carlos Ruiz to line out and Domonic Brown to pop out to end the game. He's got a 1.06 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 26/5 K/BB ratio through 17 innings, and needs to be universally owned.

Fri Jun 13 201422:12Neil Ramirez secures second save on Friday
Neil Ramirez had an adventure in the ninth inning on Friday, but escaped with the lead intact to earn his second save of the season.
It's unclear why Cubs manager Rick Renteria turned to Ramirez instead of Hector Rondon to preserve a two-run advantage, and if it will lead to further chances in the future. He was greeted by a double from Jimmy Rollins, who came around to score on a two-out single from Domonic Brown. Ramirez was able to bear down though, and record the final out with the tying run sitting 90 feet away.

Thu Jun 5 201422:28Ramirez picks up first save in win over Mets
Neil Ramirez picked up his first save of the season with a perfect ninth inning in Thursday's win over the Mets.
Hector Rondon was unavailable after pitching in back-to-back games upon his return from paternity leave. Ramirez had no issues, going 1-2-3 in the ninth with a strikeout. Rondon should be the go-to guy for a vast majority of the save chances going forward, but Ramirez is certainly putting himself on the map with a 0.68 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, and a 21/4 K/BB ratio in 13 1/3 innings thus far.
