Ranaudo was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, John Blake of the Rangers' official site reports.
Despite making two spot starts for the Rangers this season, Ranaudo will serve as a long man out of the bullpen, according to Anthony Andro of FOX Sports Southwest reports. In the aforementioned nods, Ranaudo gave up six runs on 11 hits and four walks to go with six strikeouts in 8.1 innings.

Ranaudo was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Ranaudo had an impressive outing Thursday against the Dodgers, throwing 6.2 scoreless innings and striking out four batters. However, with the Rangers making a slew of moves Friday, they decided to recall reliever Alex Claudio from Triple-A.

Ranaudo allowed five hits and two walks in 6.2 innings Thursday against the Dodgers. He struck out four in the no-decision.
Ranaudo was recalled by Texas earlier in the day from Triple-A Round Rock to give the Rangers starters an extra day's rest. Thursday's outing was a stark contrast to Ranaudo's only other outing, when he gave up six runs in 1.2 innings on April 15.

Ranaudo was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
The right-hander will be called upon to make a spot start Thursday against the Dodgers, with the team looking to give its rotation members an extra day of rest. Ranaudo has posted a 2.45 ERA in 11 starts for Round Rock, but he struggled in his first start of the season with the big club back on Apr. 15 (six runs in 1.2 innings) and served up 10 homers in 39.1 innings with Boston last year.

Ranaudo was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock following Wednesday's game.
Ranaudo was recalled to make a start Wednesday against the Angels, but struggled mightily, allowing six runs on six hits without making out of the second inning. With days off scheduled over the next couple weeks, the next time a fifth starter would be needed is early May. Ranaudo and Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez appear to be the top candidates for the start, but the situation should clear up at some point before then.

Ranaudo was unable to get out of the second inning Wednesday against the Angels, giving up six runs on six hits and a pair of walks before getting yanked.
A one-time top prospect for the Red Sox, Ranaudo saw his stock drop over the last year or so thanks to a significantly decline in his strikeout rate upon promotion to Triple-A, followed by a poor showing over six starts with Boston. That led to a trade to Texas, but he's certainly not off to a rip-roaring start with the change of scenery. Still, the Rangers will presumably give Ranaudo a few turns through the rotation in search of better results.
Wed Apr 15 201500:08Anthony Ranaudo: Recalled To Start Wednesday
Ranaudo was called up from Triple-A Round Rock following Tuesday's game, and will presumably start Wednesday against the Angels.
In just one start with Round Rock, Ranaudo pitched five shutout innings, allowing four hits and zero walks while striking out six. He had a 4.81 ERA in seven starts (39.1 innings) last year with Boston. However, he was actually much worse than that as he had just 15 strikeouts with 16 walks over that span. That said, the Rangers are desperate for someone to take Derek Holland's spot in the rotation as Alex "Chi-Chi" Gonzalez gets further seasoning at Triple-A, so if Ranaudo can have any modicum of success he could stay in the rotation for a couple months.

Ranaudo will be called up to start Wednesday against the Angels.
Ranaudo will be up to fill Derek Holland's vacated rotation spot, at least temporarily. Holland is set to miss at least 60 days due to a left shoulder strain. If Ranaudo, who posted a 4.81 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in seven starts for the big club last season, fails to provide quality innings for the Rangers, they could end up turning to 23-year-old Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez.

Ranaudo was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Ranaudo was considered an underdog to take the final spot in the Rangers' rotation, and now his run has come to an end. He'll wind up in the minors to begin the season, but with a thin Rangers rotation heading into the season, he remains one of the top candidates to fill in should an injury occur.

Ranaudo allowed two runs and five hits in six innings Friday, keeping him alive in the race for the final rotation spot.
Nick Martinez is still widely considered the favorite to win the battle, but Ranaudo's performance Friday was enough to keep the door open.

Ranaudo (elbow) returned to the mound to throw 30 pitches in a Double-A game Monday.

Ranaudo (elbow) reported no problem Friday and is expected to be able to make his next appearance as scheduled, the team's web site reports.

Ranaudo has entered his way into the competition for the two vacated spots at the back of the Texas rotation with the injury to Yu Darvish and still expects to make his next spring start as scheduled.
Tue Jan 27 201519:12Anthony Ranaudo: Traded To Rangers
Ranaudo was traded to the Rangers on Tuesday in exchange for Robbie Ross.
It was pretty clear that the Red Sox did not see enough from Ranaudo in his seven starts last season to view him as a starting pitcher long term. He had a 4.81 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and just 15 strikeouts in 39.1 innings, so it is hard to blame them from moving on. The Rangers, on the other hand, could very much use some added starting pitching depth. While Ranaudo does not immediately slot into their rotation for the start of 2015, he will likely be a bad month or an injury away from getting a shot at replacing someone. Still, everything still points to him eventually being a reliever full time.

Ranaudo capped his season off with seven strong innings in Wednesday night's win over the Rays. He allowed two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out two.
Another positive was that for the first time in seven big-league starts, Ranaudo did not allow a home run. The Red Sox are expected to add an elite starting pitcher in the offseason and perhaps a second arm. Where Ranaudo and other young hurlers, like Rubby De La Rosa, Brandon Workman and Allen Webster, fit in 2015 will be determined by how the organization addresses its starting rotation in the offseason.

Ranaudo allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three in 5.2 innings in Tuesday night's loss to the Pirates. After three straight wins to start his major league career, Ranaudo has lost his last three starts.
Ranaudo will continue to audition for the 2015 starting rotation through the end of the season, but his performance hasn't earned him anything yet. He's allowed a homer in each of this six starts (10 homers allowed overall) and walked 15 in 32.1 innings. Ranaudo will have to win a job in Boston next spring.

Ranaudo gave up four runs on six hits and two walks in 3.1 innings Tuesday against the Orioles.
He gave up three home runs in just over three innings against Baltimore, en route to his shortest outing since debuting in the big leagues earlier this season. He has now given up eight homers in 26.2 innings as a starter, which is a horrible recipe for success. It would not be surprising to the see the Red Sox pull Ranaudo out of the rotation over the final few weeks to try to preserve his confidence.

Ranaudo gave up three runs on six hits over 5.1 innings in a losing effort against the Yankees on Wednesday.
Hiroki Kuroda pitched very well on the other side, putting Ranaudo in a difficult spot Wednesday. Now with four big league starts under his belt, Ranaudo needs to find a way to reduce the amount of hard contact he's surrendering, as he's already yielded five home runs in 23.1 innings with the big club the season. If the Red Sox want him to make another start on regular rest, he could face the Orioles on Monday at home.
Tue Sep 2 201418:48Ranaudo recalled from Low-A Greenville on Tuesday
Ranaudo was recalled from Low-A Greenville on Tuesday.
While Randaudo's success at Triple-A Pawtucket this season (2.61 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) has yet to really translate at the highest level (4.50 ERA, 1.39 WHIP), he's still 3-0 with Boston and will finally get an extended run in the rotation over the final month of the season. The right-hander will start opposite the Yankees' Hiroki Kuroda on Wednesday.
