Lobstein (3-7) allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six in 5.2 innings against the Rays on Wednesday.
That's five straight losses for Lobstein, and he's given up five-plus runs thrice in that span. At least he was able to strike some batters out in this one -- the six actually represented his season high -- but that's not much of a silver lining on the thundercloud of Lobstein's season.

Lobstein allowed six runs on eight hits, walking two and striking out two while lasting just 4.1 innings in an 8-1 loss to Cleveland on Friday night.
Lobstein (3-6, 5.02 ERA) was making his first start since May 24th when he went on the disabled list with a sore shoulder. While the results weren't very encouraging, some rust likely contributed. He may remain in the rotation for the final weeks of the season so the club can evaluate his health going forward, but his fantasy value has never been particularly high even at his best.

Lobstein (shoulder) was activated from the 60-day DL and will start Friday's game against the Indians.
He had a 4.34 ERA in eight starts with the Tigers earlier this season, but he managed just 20 strikeouts in 47.2 innings, so the upside here is extremely limited. Lobstein could theoretically stick in the Tigers' rotation for the rest of the season.

Lobstein (shoulder) will begin a rehabilitation stint at High-A Lakeland this week, reports the Detroit Free Press. He has been on the disabled list since May 24.
The Tigers expect him to make at least three or four rehab starts, so he can build up his pitch count and thoroughly test his recovery. Initial treatments weren't improving the situation at all, so it took some time to find the right approach and treatment modality. They'll want to make sure there are no setbacks, so his return to Detroit probably won't come until September.
Thu Jul 30 201513:53Lobstein (shoulder) moved to 60-day DL on Thursday
Lobstein (shoulder) was moved to the 60-day DL on Thursday, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
Lobstein will be removed from the 40-man roster to make room for the prospects Detroit acquired Thursday in the David Price trade. Lobstein has been rehabbing for the better part of the last two months, and he most recently threw a 60-pitch bullpen session Monday. The hope is that he'll be ready to return to the rotation sometime in August.
Mon Jul 27 201519:31Lobstein (shoulder) threw 60-pitch bullpen session Monday
Lobstein (shoulder) threw a 60-pitch bullpen session Monday, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Lobstein is traveling with the big league club for their series with Tampa Bay, so he'll likely try to throw a live batting practice in front of the team's brass before heading out on a rehab assignment. Unless the Tigers make an upgrade or to their paper-thin rotation before the July 31 deadline, Lobstein should have an inside track on regaining a rotation spot following his rehab assignment, despite his two-month absence.

Lobstein (shoulder) recently increased his throwing program and is now throwing up to 120 feet and did not report any pain, reports the Detroit Free Press.
He has been on the disabled list since May 24. The Tigers could really use him in their current spiral -- he started six games late last year with the Tigers winning four. It was a big deal given the Tigers only won the division by a single game. Once healthy, he'll need to continue to work on his curveball and see if he can master a cutter. But we don't expect him in the lineup soon -- he'll need a rehab assignment once he's back to full steam and that could absorb a month's time.

He received a cortisone shot June 13, but the soreness in his shoulder has not subsided. He has been on the disabled list since May 24 and looks to remain there for a while.

Lobstein (shoulder) received a cortisone shot Friday and will take the next few days off to see how he responds, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The Tigers don't have a return timetable for Lobstein, who was placed on the DL with the sore throwing shoulder May 24. A recent MRI indicated that Lobstein was still experiencing some inflammation, but the Tigers are hopeful the cortisone shot will be enough to correct the issue.

Tue Jun 9 201516:47Lobstein (shoulder) shut down indefinitely
Lobstein (shoulder) has been shut down indefinitely, James Schmehl of MLive.com reports.
Lobstein, who was placed on the DL last month with shoulder inflammation, was cleared to throw over the weekend. However, he reported soreness in the shoulder, so the team has opted to shut him down for the time being. Originally, the Tigers hoped to have Lobstein back in mid-June, but that timetable now appears to be very optimistic.

Lobstein (shoulder) hasn't thrown since being placed on the disabled list, as he's waiting for the soreness to subside, James Schmehl of MLive Media Group reports.
Lobstein's inflamed shoulder continues to give him troubles, leaving him with an unclear timetable at this point. While June 8 remains the earliest return date for him, the fact that he's not yet throwing likely pushes that date back further.

Lobstein (shoulder) indicated Sunday that the MRI showed "just inflammation in my shoulder," which is considered a "relatively good prognosis," Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Lobstein's shoulder injury surfaced following Saturday's outing, and resulted in his placement on the disabled list Sunday. While shoulder inflammation usually doesn't bode well for a starting pitcher, it sounds like surgery may not be required in this case. His timetable remains unclear at this point, but it should start to shape as his rehab process begins.
Sun May 24 201511:34Kyle Lobstein: (Shoulder Soreness) Placed on 15-Day DL
Lobstein was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with left shoulder soreness, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
Lobstein was adequate in his start Saturday against the Astros with three runs allowed over 5.2 innings, but the shoulder soreness has apparently been an issue for quite some time and has yet to show much improvement. The Tigers decided it was for the best to shut the lefty down while they investigate the matter, as he'll undergo an MRI on the shoulder Monday. Buck Farmer will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo ahead of Thursday's game against the Angels to assume Lobstein's spot in the rotation.

Lobstein took the loss Saturday, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks over 5.2 innings while striking out one.
His ERA now sits at 4.34, and his 20:16 K:BB ratio through 47.2 innings doesn't indicate that things will get much better any time soon. Lobstein's next start will come on Thursday, on the road against the Angels.

Lobstein was a tough-luck loser Monday, allowing three runs in 6.2 innings against the Brewers.
After being blown out in his last start, Lobstein settled down nicely Monday. Absent his one bad start, the lefty has allowed more than three runs just once in a game this season. Lobstein will look to get back in the win column this weekend against the Astros.
Wed May 13 201522:51Lobstein had worst start of season Wednesday
Lobstein had his worst start of the season Wednesday. He lasted just 2.1 innings against the Twins and gave up seven hits and six earned runs. He entered the game with a 3.00 ERA and left with it at 4.33.
He had been the one of the Tigers' most consistent starters this season and his last start had been the best of his young career. But he imploded in the third inning. The Twins loaded the bases on back-to-back singles and a walk, and then Trevor Plouffe tripled to the wall in right-center. The next batter punched a double and Lobstein got the hook. His final line was 2.1IP, 7H, 6R, 6ER, 1BB, 1SO. Ouch.

Lobstein (3-2) went 7.2 innings Thursday in a win over the White Sox, allowing just an unearned run on five hits and two walks while striking out three.
Lobstein continues to have a curious amount of success early on, largely due to his ability to keep the ball in the park -- the 25-year-old hasn't allowed a homer over 33 innings so far, thanks to a ground-ball-heavy approach. But he also puts a lot of men on base and owns a minuscule 4.09 K/9 on the year, which aren't promising indicators that he can sustain his 3.00 ERA.
