No word yet on the corresponding roster move. Spruill, 23, was acquired from the Braves in the Justin Upton deal and owns a 3.12 ERA and 44/31 K/BB ratio in 89 1/3 innings over 14 starts this season between Double- and Triple-A. He figures to pitch in long relief. |

Spruill posted an underwhelming 3.67 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 106/46 K/BB ratio across 161 2/3 innings last season at Double-A Mississippi. The tall 23-year-old right-hander is a long way from the major league level. |
