Wada will face the Royals on Saturday instead of Sunday, ESPN Chicago's Jesse Rogers reports.
Jason Hammel is dealing with a minor fingernail issue, so the Cubs want him to wait an extra day. Wada now matches up with Yordano Ventura, rather than Jeremy Guthrie. While Ventura has struggled this season, a matchup would Guthrie still would have been better for Wada's owners.

Wada gave up just one run on four hits across 5.1 innings in Monday's loss to Washington.
Wada pitched very well on Monday but earned the no decision as the Cubs offense struggled to score. He walked two batters and struck out six across 5.1 innings to bring his ERA to 2.70. Wada has been solid up to this point, and once the Cubs offense gets behind him, he could be tough to beat.

Wada struck out nine in 4.2 innings in his season debut, giving up two runs, four hits and a walk Wednesday against the Padres.
Wada opened the season on the disabled list with a left groin strain and made six rehab starts before starting in his first game of the season Wednesday. He impressed, striking out seven of the first nine Padres batters he faced. His only mistake was allowing a two-run homer to Justin Upton to straightaway center field to give the Padres a 2-1 lead with two outs in the fourth. Wada ran into more trouble in the fifth and left the game with two on and two outs, leaving him with a no-decision. He'll look to last longer in his next outing Monday against the Nationals.

Wada (groin) will be activated from the disabled list Wednesday and receive the start that day against the Padres, Fred Mitchell of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Wada will take over the rotation spot of Travis Wood, who was banished to the bullpen over the weekend. A groin injury in spring training took Wada out of the running for a starting job with the big club, but he's been excellent across six rehab starts at Triple-A Iowa, generating 29 strikeouts and a 2.86 ERA over 34.2 innings. The lefty found some success with the Cubs in the second half of 2014, and should be squarely on the radar in NL-only and deeper formats.

Wada (groin) struck out six and walked none in seven innings for Triple-A Iowa on Thursday.
Wada gave up just four hits and one run in the effort and looks like he's finally ready to return to the bigs, as he gave up two runs or fewer in five of his six rehab starts. There may not be a spot for him in the rotation, as even the Kyle Hendricks and Travis Wood have been serviceable.
Tue May 12 201518:32Wada (groin) will make another rehab start Thursday
Wada (groin) will make another rehab start Thursday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
Wada built his pitch count up to 91 in his last outing with Triple-A Iowa, tossing 5.2 innings of one-run ball to lower his ERA with the affiliate to 3.25. The Cubs will leave Wada down for another rehab start, but they will have to activate him shortly thereafter as his 30-day window to rehab will be up before he can toe the rubber again. Wada could take on a long role out of the bullpen upon activation, though it's possible he could be optioned to serve as rotation insurance.

Wada (groin) gave up four hits and one run in 5.2 innings for Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, his second consecutive strong start.
The Cubs don't seem to be in any hurry to activate Wada, who has no made five starts for Triple-A Iowa. His overall numbers are nothing special - 27.2 innings, 3.25 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 23:10 K:BB ratio - but given the current struggles of the Cubs' bullpen, it would not be surprising to see Wada activated in the next week.

Wada is in the midst of a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa, making three starts over which he's allowed nine earned runs with 12 strikeouts in 15 innings. The lefty appears to be progressing well and should be in line to get activated off the disabled list in early May.

Wada (groin) tossed 89 pitches over 5.1 innings in a rehab game with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday.
Wednesday's game was Wada's second rehab start, and the 89 pitches indicate he is close to being ready for a full workload, if he is not already. Wada could be activated from the disabled list before April is over, but even if he is not, he should be back at 100 percent sometime in early May.

Wada (groin) threw a five-inning outing at extended spring training Sunday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
Wada tossed 72 pitches in the outing, a heavy workload that suggests a rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa is on the horizon. With the Cubs boasting a healthy rotation at present, Wada may be forced to remain with Iowa once he's formally activated from the disabled list.

Wada (groin) was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.

Sat Mar 28 201516:52Wada (groin) threw 42 pitches in simulated game Saturday
Wada (groin) threw 42 pitches in a simulated game Saturday, as MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.
Supposedly everything went well...until Wada slipped on a concrete sidewalk after the appearance. He was likely headed to the DL to start the season anyway, but at least he's pitching again. The injury put Wada out of the running for a rotation spot, but he'd probably be first in line if the Cubs need an emergency starter later on this year.
Fri Mar 20 201523:43Wada (groin) out of running for rotation spot
Wada (groin) is out of the running for a rotation spot, as MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports that Travis Wood and Edwin Jackson are the last two contenders remaining for the fifth spot in the Cubs' rotation.
It would have been nice to see a healthy Wada get a shot at the job, but he's had a few lower-body injuries this spring and has been limited to just 1.2 innings. Given that neither Wood nor Jackson has much upside, Wada could still find himself in the rotation in 2015.

Wada started Friday but was removed early because of left groin tightness, the Cubs' official site reports.
Wada was believed to be dealing with a leg injury after pitching Sunday, and it's likely the groin issue that was bothering him. The issue forced him to leave Friday's start early, and could hurt his chances at nabbing a spot in the starting rotation. He underwent a precautionary MRI on his leg, and will be re-evaluated once the results are obtained.
Mon Mar 9 201514:03Tsuyoshi Wada: Dealing With Leg Discomfort
Wada has a bit of discomfort in his left leg, despite pitching a clean inning Sunday, ESPN Chicago's Jesse Rogers reports.
It's a different area than the groin issue he dealt with earlier in camp, and it may hold him back in the short term. Continue to monitor his status this spring as it will be important for him to make enough appearances to stake a claim to the No. 5 starter spot to start the season.

Wada (hamstring) threw a live batting practice Saturday with no ill effects, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports. "I thought he threw the ball really well," manager Joe Maddon said.
It looks like Wada's sore hamstring is not going to prevent him from making a run at a rotation spot this spring.
Mon Feb 23 201516:41Wada (hamstring) scheduled to throw side session Wednesday
Wada (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a side session Wednesday, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.

Wada is being held back from early spring training work due to a hamstring injury, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Wada is expected to compete for one of the spots in the back end of the bullpen out of spring training, but the early setback isn't doing him any favors. He was good for the Cubs last season, posting a 3.25 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 57 strikeouts over 69.1 innings and 13 games. He has to battle with the likes of Jacob Turner, Travis Wood and Edwin Jackson for the final spot in the rotation behind Jon Lester and Jake Arrieta.
