Sat Jul 3 201016:52Manny Delcarmen only has strain in forearm
An MRI Saturday on Manny Delcarmen's forearm showed only a strain.
Delcarmen was placed on the disabled list Friday, but should be able to return as soon as his two weeks are up. "Structurally, it came out really good," manager Terry Francona said. "Even the amount of swelling is not as much as I think they expected, which is really good. It's strictly musculature."

Sat Jul 3 201010:28Sox don't think Delcarmen injury is serious
The Red Sox hope Manny Delcarmen will miss only a couple weeks with a strained right forearm.
Delcarmen had an MRI Friday, but the team doesn't think the ailment is serious. He said that he learned his lesson from not telling the Sox last year about tightness in his forearm. "I've been honest as much as I can about anything - my back, whatever it is - and they know that," said Delcarmen. Assuming all goes well, Delcarmen should be back by the end of the month.

Thu Jul 1 201010:46Delcarmen to get forearm examined
Manny Delcarmen acknowledged after Thursday's game that he has been experiencing forearm discomfort and will be examined by a doctor on Friday.
"I think it's my pronator or flexor mass or something in my forearm," said Delcarmen. "It's been for like a week. It's been getting better every day, just having a little trouble getting extension on the ball. I'm going to see how the day off goes and then see how I feel on Friday." Delcarmen was tagged for five runs while failing to record an out on Thursday. He has allowed nine runs over his last three appearances, inflating his ERA from 2.23 to 4.59.

Sun Jun 6 201019:43Delcarmen struggling with back pain
Manny Delcarmen allowed a run on two walks and a hit Sunday and complained of back pain after the outing.
He's been dealing with discomfort for weeks, but said he felt fine while warming up. Not so when he took the mound for real, however. "It's been three weeks, on and off. Warming up felt fine, I got in the game, and then the same thing," Delcarmen said. Manager Terry Francona said they'd monitor Delcarmen, but it doesn't sound like a DL trip is in his future.
