While there's no official announcement yet, Justin Turner (intercostal) appears likely to be placed on the disabled list. Atchison, out since May 14 with elbow inflammation, returns to a 4.50 ERA and 6/6 K/BB ratio over 18 innings.

It's no surprise, of course, given that Atchison has been pitching with a partially torn UCL for a while. now. The righty isn't so much worried about the soreness as he is that he had numbness and tingling in his arm that left him unable to feel the ball. He'll be examined Tuesday and seems likely to require a trip to the disabled list.

It's possible he could end up re-signing on a minor league deal. "I would like to stay in Boston," he said, "but now we're going to have to see what's out there."
