Cubs and C Koyie Hill avoided arbitration Wednesday by agreeing to a one-year, $850,000 contract. | ||||||
Hill, who turns 32 in March, was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. He batted .214/.254/.298 with one home run and 17 RBI in 231 plate appearances with the Cubs last season, while throwing out 18 percent (8-for-45) of would-be basestealers. He's expected to be the primary backup to Geovany Soto again in 2011. | ||||||
