Wed Mar 23 201116:30Braves' Hicks hits game-tying homer
Brandon Hicks evened things up with a homer in the bottom of the ninth Wednesday as the Braves and Marlins played to a 4-4 tie.
The game was called after 11 innings. Hicks' homer came in his lone at-bat, leaving him 8-for-26 this spring. It's probably not going to be enough to unseat Brooks Conrad or Diory Hernandez on the Atlanta bench, but he'll be the infielder the Braves call up once an injury strikes.

Hicks was called up to the big leagues in early June to provide depth for an injury-riddled Atlanta infield. Now that most of those players are back to full health, he will return to the farm. The 24-year-old third baseman played in 13 games but went hitless over five at-bats.
Sat Jun 12 201008:03Ailing Braves recall infielder Hicks
Braves recalled 3B Brandon Hicks from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Though Hicks is technically taking Nate McLouth's newly available roster spot, his recall is related more to Omar Infante's recent knock. The Braves don't believe that Infante's injury will keep him out for very long, but wanted to have his replacement at hand in case he can't go Saturday or Sunday. Hicks was hitting .211/.294/.292 for Triple-A Gwinnett so far this season.
Fri Jun 11 201023:00Braves to call up Hicks instead of Schafer
With the injury to Omar Infante, the Braves will call up infielder Brandon Hicks from Triple-A Gwinnett instead of outfielder Jordan Schafer.
Infante left Friday's game against the Twins after fouling a ball off his left foot in the fifth inning. The injury isn't expected to keep him out of the lineup for long, but the Braves need a backup shortstop, just in case. The Braves hadn't yet processed the roster move for Schafer, so Hicks gets the call instead.

Tue May 4 201014:15Braves call up Hicks to shore up SS position
Braves purchased the contract of SS Brandon Hicks from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Hicks was batting a lousy .179/.258/.262 with only five extra-base hits in 93 plate appearances at Gwinnett, but the Braves are desperate for infield depth now with the loss of Yunel Escobar. Hicks, 24, does have some base-stealing ability and may be of use in deep NL-only leagues, but we'd bet he struggles against big league pitching. He has zero major league experience.
