Black (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A St. Lucie on Tuesday, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports.

Black reported that he'll likely have to start the season on the disabled list, but as he'll be able to be placed there retroactively, he'd just need to miss the team's opening two series. The 26-year-old will likely have to appear in some minor league games first though, so no return date to the major league team is locked in at this point.

No structural damage to Black's shoulder was found during an MRI exam last week, but the right-hander was prescribed anti-inflammatory medication to treat his tendinitis. Black complained of more pain after resuming his throwing program Tuesday and will be shut back down, but he expects to start back up in just two days, once his set time on the anti-inflammatories is up.
