"As of now, I'm going to winter ball to work on getting repetitions in the bullpen for next year," said Bowden. "The plan as of now is to be a reliever [in 2011]. I enjoy it. There's still a lot of learning to do." The 24-year-old right-hander posted a 5.25 ERA in 11 relief appearances with the Red Sox this season. The former 2005 supplemental first-round pick is primarily a flyball pitcher and doesn't miss many bats, so it will be essential that he puts an emphasis on keeping the ball down in the strike zone. He'll be a storyline to watch during spring training.

The Sox bullpen has been inconsistent, and Bowden could possibly eventually find himself in some high leverage situations. However, we wouldn't expect much fantasy value here.

The 23-year-old right-hander has a 3.77 ERA over 16 starts with Triple-A Pawtucket this season -- which is just dandy -- but he has only averaged 6.2 K/9 and is primarily a flyball pitcher. Unless he finds a way to adapt, he doesn't have the proper stuff to make it as a productive starter in the long-term.
