Mon Feb 3 201417:11Mets sign Farnsworth to minor league deal
Mets signed RHP Kyle Farnsworth to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Farnsworth turns 38 in April and posted a 4.70 ERA and 28/10 K/BB ratio over 38 1/3 innings last season between the Rays and Pirates. The Mets don't have much experience in their bullpen, so the veteran right-hander should have a decent chance at cracking the Opening Day roster if he's healthy.

Sun Sep 29 201316:20Kyle Farnsworth earns second save of year
Kyle Farnsworth earned his second save of the season by tossing a scoreless ninth inning Sunday against the Reds.
Jason Grilli closed out Friday's win and Mark Melancon pitched on Saturday, so skipper Clint Hurdle decided to rest them both in the season finale and hand the ball to Farnsworth. The Rays designated Farnsworth for assignment and released him in August. The veteran right-hander turned around his season -- and perhaps saved his career -- by posting a 1.04 ERA for the Pirates in September.

With Mark Melancon in need of the day off, Kyle Farnsworth got the save chance Wednesday against the Rangers and pitched a perfect ninth in a two-run game.
Farnsworth was trusted with the assignment after just being called up on Sept. 1, and he turned in another flawless frame. He's allowed just one hit in four innings to date for the Pirates. At this rate, he'll not only be on the postseason roster, but he could be trusted with more late leads in October.
