A short lived stay for Wagner with the big club, he was sent back down in order to clear a roster spot for Rich Thompson who was claimed off waivers. He'll continue to serve as bullpen depth in Triple-A and will likely be back in Oakland before the end of the season.

Wagner will presumably function as a middle reliever for Oakland. The right-hander was rocking an 8/0 K/BB ratio in 5 1/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level.

Wagner, 27, had a 3.26 ERA and 87/23 K/BB ratio this season between Double-A Midland and Triple-A Sacramento. He should remain with the A's through the end of the season.

Updating a previous item, the Athletics have not called up Neil Wagner from Triple-A Sacramento.
Wagner was on the original lineup card, but Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that he is no longer listed. The A's must wait until Jerry Blevins clears waivers before adding him to the 40-man roster, so a move will likely be made Tuesday.

The Athletics haven't announced a corresponding roster move yet, but Graham Godfrey is expected to be sent back to the minors. Wagner, 27, posted a 3.26 ERA and 87/23 K/BB ratio this season between Double-A Midland and Triple-A Sacramento. He'll pitch in middle relief.

The A's are expected to promote Neil Wagner from Triple-A Sacramento before Tuesday's game.
Wagner has posted a cool 3.10 ERA and 34/10 K/BB ratio in 29 innings of relief this year at Sacramento. The 27-year-old right-hander will be making his major league debut and should do well in a middle relief role.
