Mon Sep 30 201315:29ATL leaning toward Garcia for NLDS Gm. 4
According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Braves are leaning toward Freddy Garcia for NLDS Game 4.
Garcia earned that start by posting a 1.65 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 20/5 K/BB ratio over his final 27 1/3 innings this year for Atlanta. But he owns a 4.84 ERA in 187 2/3 total frames since the start of the 2012 season and will face an extremely tough test at Dodger Stadium.

Tue Sep 24 201322:01Garcia shines again in spot start vs. Brewers
Freddy Garcia allowed two runs over 6 2/3 innings of a no-decision against the Brewers on Tuesday.
Garcia has been terrific since being acquired by the Braves, as he's now turned in three straight quality starts since joining the rotation. The right-hander gave up six hits and a walk against Brewers hitters, striking out seven. He now owns a 1.65 ERA over 27 1/3 innings with the Braves. The Braves' schedule sets up for Garcia to pitch again Sunday in the season finale, a nice streaming option for fantasy owners against a weak-hitting Phillies team.

Mon Sep 23 201316:37Garcia is a candidate to start in NLDS
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Monday that Freddy Garcia is a candidate to start Game 4 of the NLDS.
The Braves recently moved Alex Wood to the bullpen and apparently don't intend to bring him back to start this year. Garcia has a 1.31 ERA and 13/4 K/BB ratio in 20 2/3 innings over two starts and three relief appearances since joining the Braves earlier this month. Paul Maholm is the other option for Game 4.

Tue Sep 17 201321:36Freddy Garcia pitches well but Braves lose
Freddy Garcia threw seven innings of one-run ball but the Braves fell to the Nationals in the second half of Tuesday's day-night doubleheader in Washington, D.C.
Garcia got zero run support and wound up taking the loss despite his strong effort. He has now looked sharp in two straight outings but there are better fantasy options. The right-hander will take on the Brewers next.

Thu Sep 12 201315:28Garcia goes six strong in win over Marlins
Freddy Garcia limited the Marlins to one earned run over six innings on Thursday afternoon.
Garcia had little trouble carving his way through Miami's helpless batting order, yielding just five hits and a walk while striking out three. He could get another turn next week against the Phillies but is not a recommended streamer in standard mixed fantasy leagues.

Sun Sep 1 201313:13Braves recall Freddy Garcia from Triple-A
Braves recalled Freddy Garcia from Triple-A Gwinnett.
The 36-year-old right-hander is expected to work out of the Braves bullpen. Over 11 games (10 starts) for the Orioles this season, he compiled a 5.77 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 26/12 K/BB ratio in 53 innings. He remains completely useless in all mixed leagues.

Fri Aug 23 201315:09Braves acquire Freddy Garcia from Orioles
Braves acquired RHP Freddy Garcia from the Orioles for cash considerations.
The Braves were looking for some depth with Tim Hudson out for the season and Brandon Beachy's status up in the air. Garcia, who put up a 5.77 ERA over 53 innings for the Orioles this season, will be assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Freddy Garcia officially accepted an assignment to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday afternoon.
The O's were able to work out a new minor league contract with Garcia, who was tentatively demoted to the Triple-A level on Monday after posting a 5.77 ERA over his first 53 innings with Baltimore. The 36-year-old right-hander had the option of becoming a free agent.

Thu Jun 27 201313:39Orioles trying to re-sign RHP Freddy Garcia
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Orioles are working on a minor league deal with Freddy Garcia.
Garcia was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk earlier this week, but he is allowed to refuse that assignment and become a free agent. The O's clearly want to keep him around.

Mon Jun 24 201315:23O's designate Freddy Garcia for assignment
Orioles designated RHP Freddy Garcia for assignment.
Garcia surrendered seven runs in just 2 1/3 innings Sunday in his 11th appearance (10th start) with the Orioles. He posted a rough 5.77 ERA in 53 total frames with Baltimore and might not draw very much interest on waivers. The 36-year-old is planning to head to his home in Miami for a couple of days while the process sorts itself out.

Sun Jun 23 201316:14Freddy Garcia blasted by Blue Jays
Freddy Garcia was rocked for seven runs on seven hits and two walks over just 2 1/3 innings in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.
The red-hot Blue Jays were squaring up Garcia from the get-go in this one. The veteran right-hander has allowed at least five runs in three of his last four starts and might be booted from the rotation after this performance. If he gets another chance, it will come next weekend in Baltimore against the Yankees.

Sat Jun 15 201319:01Garcia gets knocked around in loss to Red Sox
Freddy Garcia allowed five runs in 5 1/3 innings in the Orioles' loss to the Red Sox on Saturday.
Garcia has gotten hit hard in two of his last three starts and was once again plagued by the long ball on Saturday, surrendering homers to Mike Carp and Jonny Gomes among the eight hits allowed. He's allowed eight home runs in his last three starts, with his ERA now sitting at 4.89. His next start will come Friday against the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Wed Jun 5 201323:56Garcia gets rocked as Orioles fall to Astros
Freddy Garcia allowed six runs -- including four home runs -- in three innings of the Orioles' loss to the Astros on Wednesday.
One step forward, two steps back. After a stellar eight-inning, three-hit domination of the Nationals his last time out, Garcia was pounded from the get-go on Wednesday. Garcia allowed home runs to Jason Castro, Carlos Pena, Marwin Gonzalez and Matt Dominguez -- no slouches, per se, but not exactly a murderer's row of hitters -- before his night was finished. He'll look to rebound Monday when he faces off against the Angels.

Thu May 30 201322:39Freddy Garcia blanks Nats for eight innings
Freddy Garcia pitched three-hit ball for eight innings in the Orioles' 2-0 shutout of the Nationals on Thursday.
It was a great showing for Garcia, but these weren't the real Nationals that he was facing, not with Bryce Harper and Jayson Werth out and a broken down Danny Espinosa batting ninth. Garcia gets the Astros next time out, so by all means, go ahead and use him. Don't expect much after that, though.

Sat May 25 201316:16Garcia goes five innings for first victory
Freddy Garcia yielded three runs (two earned) in five innings Saturday in a win over the Blue Jays.
All in all, not bad considering how the Blue Jays have been swinging the bats recently. Garcia scattered nine hits while striking out one batter and walking none. The veteran right-hander has a 4.61 ERA and 9/6 K/BB ratio in 27 1/3 innings across his first five starts with Baltimore. While he shouldn't be an option in most fantasy leagues, he's doing fine as a stopgap option in the starting rotation.

Mon May 20 201323:34Freddy Garcia holds Yankees to two runs
Freddy Garcia yielded two runs and three hits in six innings Monday in a no-decision against the Yankees.
Garcia was in line for the win until Troy Patton and Jim Johnson gave up runs. Both runs Garcia allowed came on solo homers. He's now allowed six homers in four starts for the Orioles, which is why he's such a bad risk in AL-only leagues.

Sun May 19 201311:59Freddy Garcia will start on Monday
Freddy Garcia will start on Monday against the Yankees.
Garcia was knocked around his last time out and might only be given one more shot to shape up. He should be avoided for fantasy purposes on Monday.

Wed May 15 201316:03Freddy Garcia gives up four runs in loss
Facing the team that released him this spring, Freddy Garcia gave up four runs in 3 2/3 innings Wednesday in a loss to the Padres.
Garcia allowed seven hits, one of them a homer, and he struck out just one. He might be just one more bad start away from getting booted from the rotation, though Wei-Yin Chen's injury could buy him some additional time.

Thu May 9 201322:14Freddy Garcia gives up four runs to Royals
Freddy Garcia surrendered four runs in six innings Thursday in a loss to the Royals.
Garcia would have been semi-interesting had he managed to stick with the Padres coming out of spring training. Pitching in Camden Yards and the AL East, he's likely going to get shelled on occasion, neutralizing any fantasy value he amasses in his decent outings.

Sat May 4 201320:01Garcia flirts with no-no as O's defeat Angels
Freddy Garcia carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning as the Orioles topped the Angels 5-4 on Saturday.
It was Garcia's debut for the O's and he looked excellent, yielding only three hits and two earned runs over 6 2/3 frames. He was lifted at 78 pitches but should be able to go 90-plus next time out. The veteran right-hander could be a decent streaming option in deep mixed fantasy leagues going forward. He had a 2.67 ERA in five starts at Triple-A Norfolk before his promotion.
