Sun Mar 29 201520:10Ishikawa left Sunday's Cactus League game with back injury
Ishikawa left Sunday's Cactus League game with a back injury, and he will be reevaluated Monday, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
The injury doesn't sound overly serious, but with Opening Day only a week away, Ishikawa doesn't have much time to recover. If healthy, he'll likely make the Opening Day roster, as Hunter Pence (forearm) is expected to miss at least the first few weeks of the season.
Fri Mar 20 201513:25Travis Ishikawa likely candidate to claim spot on 25-man roster
With Hunter Pence (forearm) likely to start the year on the DL, Travis Ishikawa is the likely candidate to claim his spot on the 25-man roster.
Ishikawa played such a vital role in postseason of the Giants' 2014 championship run that they re-signed the journeyman to a one-year deal this offseason. With Pence going down this spring, manager Bruce Bochy will likely carry five outfielders to shuffle in and out of the lineup for the start of the season, and Ishikawa is a strong candidate to be one of the five. He is slashing .269/.406/.462 through 26 at-bats this spring.
Thu Dec 4 201413:34Ishikawa signed one-year
Ishikawa signed a one-year, $1.1 million deal with the Giants on Thursday to avoid arbitration, MLB.com's Chris Haft reports.
Ishikawa slashed .252/.311/.393 with the Pirates and Giants during the 2014 regular season, but played meaningful innings for the Giants during their World Championship run. Rather than go to arbitration, the Giants inked him to a short-term deal, locking the 31-year-old up as an outfielder and backup first baseman for the 2015 season.
Wed Oct 29 201415:30Ishikawa not in lineup for Game 7 of World Series on Wednesday
Ishikawa is not in the lineup for Game 7 of the World Series on Wednesday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Ishikawa has struggled against the Royals, hitting just 3-for-13 in the World Series with four strikeouts. Juan Perez will get the start in left, batting ninth.
Sat Oct 25 201417:21Ishikawa out in lineup for Game 4 of World Series on Saturday
Ishikawa is out in the lineup for Game 4 of the World Series on Saturday.
With southpaw Jason Vargas on the hill for Kansas City, manager Bruce Bochy will turn to the right-handed-swinging Juan Perez to man left field. Ishikawa is 1-for-7 with two strikeouts so far in the series, but he should be back in there Sunday to face off against James Shields.
Fri Oct 17 201402:07Travis Ishikawa: Wins NLCS with Walk-Off HR
Ishikawa hit a walk-off three-run home run Thursday to win Game 5 of the NLCS and send the Giants to the World Series.
It is the first home run to end an NLCS and fourth to end an LCS. Ishikawa started the year with the Pirates before being designated for assignment in mid-April. The Giants signed him to a minor-league deal but did not call him up from Triple-A until late July. Ishikawa jumped on a 2-0 fastball from St. Louis' Michael Wacha and sent it into the right-field seats.

Ishikawa will be the starter in left field for Wednesday's NL Wild Card game against the Pirates, Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Ishikawa made just three starts in left for the Giants during the regular season, but he'll man the position Wednesday against his former team, manager Bruce Bochy confirmed. Mike Morse (oblique) is considered doubtful to be included on the team's Wild Card roster, but even if he is, he won't be available for anything more than pinch-hit duty.

Ishikawa received his second-straight start in left field Friday, going 1-for-4 in the loss to San Diego.
With Angel Pagan (back) being shut down for the season, manager Bruce Bochy has been mixing and matching in left field. With two consecutive starts, Ishikawa seems to be the favorite to fill the void in left for the time being.

Ishikawa entered Friday's game as a pinch-hitter and connected on a three-run homer in the win over the Dodgers.
Ishikawa has been seeing extended playing time, albeit not an everyday role, while Brandon Belt (concussion) has been sidelined. He has handled the expanded role well, but is likely better suited for a bench role at this point of his career. Belt took batting practice Friday and looks to be nearing a return, which would effectively push Ishikawa back to a reserve role.

Ishikawa went 1-for-3 with a two-run shot (first as a Giant) in Sunday's loss to the Nationals.
Ishikawa has been very productive this past week, starting three of the Giants' last five games and batting .385 (5-for-13) with a home run and seven RBI over that span. With Brandon Belt (concussion) out indefinitely, he will platoon at first base with Adam Duvall and see the majority of at-bats against righties. Deep leaguers should take a look at Ishikawa for a short-term hot bat.

Ishikawa was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI Wednesday in an 8-3 victory over the Cubs.
Ishikawa will be filling in at first base most games for injured Brandon Belt, who is out for at least two more weeks. It's the lefty's first multi-hit game since game one of the season.
Tue Jul 29 201416:58Giants call up Travis Ishikawa from Triple-A
Giants purchased the contract of 1B Travis Ishikawa from Triple-A Fresno.
Ishikawa will help out at first base with Brandon Belt still recovering from a concussion. The 30-year-old was batting .271/.349/.446 with 11 homers and 45 RBI in 71 games at Fresno but is doubtful to hold fantasy value.

Giants signed 1B Travis Ishikawa to a minor league contract.
Ishikawa, who was drafted by the Giants and spent his first 12 professional seasons there, elected free agency last week after being outrighted off the Pirates' 40-man roster. Sat Apr 19 201415:26Pirates designate Ishikawa for assignment
Pirates designated 1B Travis Ishikawa for assignment.
With Friday's acquisition of Ike Davis, Ishikawa became expendable for the Pirates. In a platoon role, he hit .206/.263/.382 with a homer and three RBI in 34 at-bats. With his power potential, he could generate interest from other teams, but may have to work things out at Triple-A before getting another shot in the big leagues.

Mon Mar 31 201409:08Ishikawa start at 1B in Bucs' season-opener
Travis Ishikawa is starting at first base in the Pirates' season-opener Monday versus the Cubs.
Ishikawa, a left-handed hitter, is in a first-base platoon with right-handed hitter Gaby Sanchez. It's a position to be ignored for fantasy purposes. The full Opening Day lineup for Pittsburgh: LF Starling Marte, RF Travis Snider, CF Andrew McCutchen, 3B Pedro Alvarez, C Russell Martin, 2B Neil Walker, 1B Travis Ishikawa, SS Jordy Mercer, SP Francisco Liriano.

Tue Mar 25 201409:28Ishikawa expected to make Pirates' roster
Travis Ishikawa is expected to begin the season on the Pirates' Opening Day roster and platoon with Gaby Sanchez at first base.
The Pirates have yet to officially add Ishikawa to the 40-man roster, but he's expected to make it barring a late signing or trade. The 30-year-old is a .260/.324/.398 career hitter in the big leagues and is not considered a fantasy option.

Sat Mar 22 201417:50Travis Ishikawa homers in win
Travis Ishikawa homered and walked twice Saturday in the Pirates' 5-3 defeat of the Phillies.
Ishikawa is hitting .350 with three homers in 20 at-bats since returning from a leg injury that cost him the first 10 days of the spring. The Pirates could seriously consider keeping him as a left-handed option at first base unless someone better comes along. Last year, Ishikawa hit .290/.389/.465 in 297 at-bats for a couple of International League teams. He's a lifetime .260/.324/.398 hitter in 774 major league at-bats.
