Sat Sep 3 201101:06Jonathan Herrera goes 3-for-5 for Rockies
Jonathan Herrera went 3-for-5 and scored two of the Rockies' three runs in Friday's win.
Herrera is starting to see more action again lately as the Rockies try to figure out their infield for next year. There's been a lot of speculation that they'll re-sign Mark Ellis, but they might just decide to have Herrera, Eric Young Jr. and Chris Nelson battle for the starting job at second base next spring.

Thu Jun 2 201102:20Jonathan Herrera goes hitless against Dodgers
Jonathan Herrera went 0-for-4 as the Rockies' No. 2 hitter Wednesday against the Dodgers.
After a nice April, Herrera has hit just .242 with four walks in 91 at-bats since the beginning of May. He's pretty much lost the starting to job to Eric Young Jr. now, and even though he's the superior defender, he'll have to hit in order to get it back.

Thu May 12 201120:11Jonathan Herrera hits second homer
Jonathan Herrera went 2-for-5 and hit his second homer Thursday against the Mets.
Herrera had been hitting .226 with just one run scored in nine games this month, but fortunately for him, Jose Lopez and Ian Stewart have been even worse. As a result, Herrera shouldn't lose much playing time after Ty Wigginton comes off the DL.

Tue Apr 26 201112:05Herrera off to hot start with Rockies
Jonathan Herrera is batting .310/.444/.431 through 74 plate appearances this season.
Impressive stuff from the 26-year-old infielder. Herrera wasn't an overly productive player in the minors and is unlikely to keep this kind of offensive pace all season, but he's worth riding until his hot bat goes cold.

Thu Apr 14 201119:29Rockies' Herrera homers in win over Mets
Jonathan Herrera went 2-for-5 and hit his second major league home run -- a three-run shot off Taylor Buchholz -- as the Rockies beat the Mets 9-4 in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader.
The Rockies swept the four-game series in Citi Field. Herrera, who didn't play the first game, entered the day with one homer in 302 major league at-bats. He's been hot this season, though, going 11-for-24, and he already has four steals after swiping just two bases in 76 games last year. The Rockies are going to have to stick with him at second base and sit Jose Lopez, at least until he cools off.

Jonathan Herrera is out of the starting lineup for the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Mets.
Herrera had started the last five games at second base and hit safely in all of them, so his spot in the lineup looks pretty secure right now. Jose Lopez will start the first game of the doubleheader, but Herrera should be back for the second game.

Sat Apr 9 201100:23Rockies' Herrera goes 3-for-6
Jonathan Herrera went 3-for-5 with a double and a walk Friday against the Pirates.
Herrera outplayed Jose Lopez all spring, but he had just one regular-season at-bat entering the night. He might be due some additional action after this one, though until he becomes a better basestealer, he's not going to be worth playing in NL-only leagues.
