Mon May 30 201117:54Rodrigo Lopez gives up six runs in debut
Rodrigo Lopez was roughed up in his Cubs debut, allowing six runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Astros.
That's about what the Cubs have been getting from their injury replacements all years. Lopez figures to stay in the rotation at Doug Davis' expense when Matt Garza returns, but maybe that's not such a given after this one.

Fri May 27 201118:31Lopez to start for Cubs on Monday
Rodrigo Lopez is expected to start Monday against the Astros.
The pitching-hungry Cubs acquired Lopez from the Braves on Thursday. The veteran right-hander had an impressive 2.59 ERA and 44/14 K/BB ratio over nine starts with Triple-A Gwinnett, but he's coming off a 5.00 ERA with the Diamondbacks last season. He can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Fri May 27 201113:46Rodrigo Lopez has contract purchased
Cubs purchased the contract of RHP Rodrigo Lopez from Triple-A Iowa.
Acquired from the Braves Thursday in exchange for minor league reliever Ryan Buchter, Lopez is expected to serve as a swing man for the Cubs. He'll be used in long relief for the time being but figures to make at least a handful of starts at some point. He held a 2.59 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 59 innings this season for Triple-A Gwinnett.

Thu May 26 201118:20Cubs acquire Rodrigo Lopez from Braves
Cubs acquired RHP Rodrigo Lopez from the Braves for RHP Ryan Buchter.
Lopez has posted a promising 2.59 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 59 innings this season as a starter at the Triple-A level. The Cubs will use the right-hander as a swing man, sometimes deploying him as a reliever and other times as a starter.

Tue Mar 22 201112:57Braves shopping right-hander Rodrigo Lopez
According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Braves are shopping right-hander Rodrigo Lopez.
Lopez inked a minor league contract with the Braves in January and has done well this spring, but Atlanta probably isn't going to have a spot for him in the majors. The 35-year-old would make a fine relief addition for several clubs.

Sat Mar 19 201116:48Lopez goes 4 2/3 for Braves in tie game
Rodrigo Lopez yielded three runs -- one earned -- in 4 2/3 innings Saturday in a tie against a Mets split-squad.
Since the rest of their rotation candidates have stayed healthy, the Braves shouldn't have any room for Lopez on their Opening Day roster. Still, someone else may want him. He was an adequate innings-eater for the Diamondbacks last year, and he has a 3.29 ERA this spring. Maybe the Brewers could give up a lesser prospect for him.

Wed Mar 9 201116:36Lopez takes loss vs. Cardinals
Rodrigo Lopez surrendered three runs over five innings in a loss to the Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon.
If Lopez got to face Albert Pujols everyday, he'd have the fifth starter job locked up. Pujols struck out in both of his at-bats against Lopez on Wednesday and is 0-for-11 against him lifetime during the regular season. However, the reality is that Lopez just isn't very good. As it stands right now, Mike Minor is the leading candidate for the final spot in the rotation.

Mon Jan 31 201117:08Braves ink Rodrigo Lopez to minors dea
Braves signed RHP Rodrigo Lopez to a minor league contract.
The contract also includes an invite to spring training. Lopez, 35, posted a 5.00 ERA across 33 starts with the Diamondbacks last season, serving up a major-league high 37 homers over 200 innings. He'll function as insurance for the starting rotation.
Sat Jan 29 201117:26Braves, Mets make offers to Lopez
ESPN's Jayson Stark says free agent Rodrigo Lopez is weighing offers from the Rockies, Mets and Braves.
None of those teams have rotation spots open for him at the moment, but Lopez needs to find some team to hook up with before spring training starts. He's probably going to have to settle for a minor league contract.

Thu Jan 27 201110:37Rox interested in minors deal with Lopez
The Rockies are interested in signing Rodrigo Lopez to a minor league deal.
Lopez, 35, posted a rough 5.00 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 200 frames last season for the Diamondbacks. He ate some innings, but not in an effective way, and he probably wouldn't have much of an impact out in Colorado. The Rockies would simply want him for depth purposes this spring.

Thu Sep 16 201015:50D'Backs' Lopez earns first win since July
Rodrigo Lopez beat the Reds by allowing one run over seven innings on Thursday.
Lopez gave up eight hits, but he managed to spread them out and he never walked a batter in improving to 6-14. The victory was his first since July 8. He had been 0-7 with a 6.53 ERA since the All-Star break.
Sat Sep 11 201023:07Lopez allows only two earned runs in loss
Rodrigo Lopez allowed only two earned runs in six-plus innings Saturday against the Rockies but was left with a no-decision.
The D'Backs put up only one run all game and the Rox were able to rally for two tallies in the seventh. Lopez did his part, striking out four and walking only one while watching his ERA improve to 5.13 and his WHIP drop to 1.43. He will take on the Reds late next week.
Sun Jul 4 201001:56D'Backs' Lopez plagued by bad defense in loss
Rodrigo Lopez was charged with nine runs -- two earned -- in 3 2/3 innings by the Dodgers on Saturday.
The Diamondbacks committed two errors during the Dodgers' six-run second and three during a one-run third inning, so this far from all Lopez's fault. That said, the fielders couldn't have done anything about the three homers he allowed. It's the first time all season that he's failed to last five innings.
Tue Jun 22 201001:23D'Backs' Lopez goes eight in victory
Rodrigo Lopez allowed three runs over eight innings in a win over the Yankees on Monday.
At 3-6 with a 4.59 ERA, Lopez has hardly been a fantasy stud this season. However, he's been a lifesaver in taking pressure off the beleaguered Diamondbacks pen. He's gone at least seven innings in eight of his last 10 starts, and he hasn't had an outing shorter than five innings this season. His ERA would probably be better if the Diamondbacks could afford to take him out of games a little earlier.
Wed May 5 201023:04Lopez solid for Arizona again
Rodrigo Lopez limited the Astros to two earned runs over seven innings in a no-decision Wednesday night.
Lopez impressive allowed just three hits and walked one. He won't be consistent enough to warrant weekly roster consideration, but can be spot started in spots like this. The veteran knows how to pitch.
Sat Apr 10 201003:13D'Backs' Lopez defeats Pirates
Rodrigo Lopez limited the Pirates to one run in six innings to win Friday.
Lopez could be the Diamondbacks' early-season savior with Brandon Webb sidelined. He looked strong all spring, and he's shaping up as a big upgrade over what the team would have gotten from Blly Buckner or Kevin Mulvey. Still, he should only be viewed as a spot starter in NL-only leagues.
