Thu Aug 30 201218:48Brett Jackson doubles twice in win
Brett Jackson had two doubles, two RBI and two walks versus the Brewers on Thursday.
Of course, he struck out in his other at-bat, bringing his total of 37 strikeouts in 74 official at-bats. However, he's certainly been pretty good when not striking out, collecting four homers, five doubles and 14 walks through 23 games.

Brett Jackson belted a solo homer in Monday's loss to the Brewers.

Sun Aug 19 201216:27Brett Jackson doubles, steals, walks in win
Brett Jackson doubled, drew a walk and stole a base in Sunday's loss to the Reds.
The stolen base was first of Jackson's MLB career, while the walk was only his fourth in 51 plate appearances. Jackson swiped 91 bases in 402 career minor-league games, so the theft should be the first of many. Jackson has now contributed extra-base hits in back-to-back games for the first time since making his major-league debut on August 5, but is still hitting just .191/.255/.340. He's had only two multi-hit games.

Brett Jackson hit his first major league homer in the second half of Saturday's doubleheader with the Reds.
Jackson went deep in the second inning off Reds starter Todd Redmond. The 24-year-old outfielder is batting just .182/.234/.318 in 12 games since his promotion, but the Cubs believe he could have a very bright future.

Sun Aug 12 201209:07Brett Jackson sits out with soreness
Brett Jackson didn't start Saturday following an outfield collision Friday.
The Cubs are revealing only that he's dealing with general soreness. There would seem to be a good chance he'll be ready to return to the lineup Sunday. Jackson is batting .118/.250/.118 while striking out 11 times in his first 20 plate appearances for the Cubbies.

Tue Aug 7 201200:50Brett Jackson takes the golden sombrero
Leading off for the Cubs, Brett Jackson struck out all four times he was up Monday against the Padres.
On a per at-bat basis, Jackson will likely strike out as often as any National Leaguer over the rest of the season. He might produce anyway and his power-speed combo makes him interesting in fantasy leagues, but growing pains should be expected.

Sun Aug 5 201212:58Cubs to call up Brett Jackson, Josh Vitters
The Cubs will promote outfield prospect Brett Jackson and infield prospect Josh Vitters from Triple-A Iowa.
They're expected to meet the team in Los Angeles, though it's not clear if they'll be activated in time for Sunday's game or if the Cubs will wait until Monday in San Diego. Jackson, who is the more highly regarded prospect of the two, has batted .256/.338/.479 with 15 homers and 27 steals at Triple-A Iowa this season. He strikes out way too much, but his power/speed combo is intriguing. Vitters has put up a .304/.356/.513 batting line with 17 homers at the same level. It's doubtful the Cubs would promote them unless they planned to play them every day, so expect Jackson to be in center field and Vitters to be at third base regularly.

Tue Jul 31 201210:39Cubs not calling up OF Brett Jackson
David Kaplan of CSNChicago.com reports that the Cubs are not calling up prospect outfielder Brett Jackson.
At least not yet, anyway. Jackson was pulled from Monday's game for undisclosed reasons, but he's back in the lineup for a day game on Tuesday. If the Cubs find a taker for Alfonso Soriano, we're guessing he'll be on his way to Chicago.

Sat Jul 14 201215:13Cubs to promote Jackson, Vitters this season?
Cubs' prospects Brett Jackson and Josh Vitters are expected to be promoted to the majors this season.
"But it's not a given," general manager Jed Hoyer said. "Those guys need to force the issue. When they sort of really prove to us that they're ready and make it clear, then I think that's something we'll see. We really want to make that a precedent, of when a prospect really bangs on the door, they get up here."

Wed Mar 14 201218:13Brett Jackson to open 2012 at Triple-A Iowa
Cubs outfield prospect Brett Jackson will open the 2012 regular season with Triple-A Iowa.
Jackson is batting .385 in eight Cactus League games and registered a cool .869 OPS with 20 home runs in 115 games last year in the minor leagues. But the Cubs want him to get regular playing time, which he wouldn't get in Chicago. "It's just at-bats sometimes," Cubs manager Dale Sveum said Wednesday. "Some of these guys get to the big leagues now before they get 2,000 at-bats in the Minor Leagues. You learn with more at-bats, tinkering."

Sat Jan 28 201216:55Brett Jackson thinks he's 'big-league ready'
Cubs prospect Brett Jackson thinks he's ''big-league-ready,'' but acknowledged that he ''still has some convincing to do'' with the front office.
"My approach is I have a really great opportunity and I'm going to try as hard as I can to seize it," Jackson said. "That being said, there are a lot of decisions outside my control. I think I'm big league ready and I'm 100 percent confident in my abilities." The Cubs are not in any rush to promote prospects before their time, but Jackson has shown an impressive combination of speed and power in his first two full minor league seasons. It's not unrealistic to think he could push Marlon Byrd or David DeJesus for a spot on the big league roster.

Fri Oct 14 201119:51Jackson leaves game with apparent foot injury
Cubs prospect outfielder Brett Jackson was pulled from Team USA's game against South Korea on Friday with an apparent foot injury.
Jackson, 23, is listed among the more attractive pieces the Red Sox could pursue as compensation for Theo Epstein. While not an elite talent, his combination of plate discipline, speed and power should make him a solid above-average regular. Epstein is expected to bring some other Red Sox employees along with him to Chicago, which is likely why negotiations are still ongoing.

Wed Sep 7 201109:03Jackson could make Cubs next season
The Cubs didn't include prospect outfielder Brett Jackson among their September call-ups, but interim general manager Randy Bush said Tuesday that he could have a chance to make the team during spring training.
"The sky's the limit," said Bush. "It's not out of the realm of possibility that this guy comes to camp and makes the team. That's how quickly he's progressing." Jackson, 23, batted .274/.379/.490 with 20 homers, 58 RBI, 21 stolen bases and an .869 OPS over 512 plate appearances between Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa this season. Marlon Byrd is under contract next season, but the Cubs would likely shift him to right field if Jackson impresses during spring training.

Fri Jun 3 201108:47Brett Jackson recall not far off?
The Chicago Tribune's Paul Sullivan believes "it's only a matter of time before" the Cubs recall top outfield prospect Brett Jackson from Double-A Tennessee.
Baseball America's 38th ranked overall prospect heading into the season, Jackson just came off the disabled list on Monday after being sidelined for roughly two weeks with a pinky injury. Now 22 years old, he is batting .266 with a .391 on-base percentage and four home runs through 157 plate appearances. The 2009 first-round draft pick is old enough to make the jump to the show, but considering the way things are trending for the Cubs this season, they will likely wait until rosters are expanded in September to give their top prospect his first cup of coffee.

Fri May 13 201112:35Brett Jackson has strained ligament in pinky
Cubs outfield prospect Brett Jackson has been placed on Double-A Tennessee's disabled list with a strained ligament in his left pinky.
The good news is that he is expected to need only a few days to recover, but the Cubs wanted to give him a week just to be safe. Jackson has a .938 OPS with four home runs and 13 stolen bases in 32 games this season.

Mon Apr 11 201112:47Cubs prospect Jackson hits grand slam
Brett Jackson went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk Sunday for Double-A Tennessee.
Jackson is 7-for-17 with a couple of steals for the Smokies. He hit .276/.366/.465 in 61 games after moving up to the Southern League last year, so the Cubs had the option of starting him off in Triple-A this season. They elected not to, but he should be there before long.
