Rob Barajas told the Los Angeles Times on Monday that he's hoping to re-sign with the Dodgers.

Barajas, 36, has hit just .236/.289/.445 in 84 games this season and may not be invited back if the Dodgers feel A.J. Ellis and Tim Federowicz can handle the gig.

Thu Aug 18 201117:13Rod Barajas homers, doubles
Rod Barajas homered and doubled Thursday in the win over the Brewers.
Barajas has been precisely the player the Dodgers paid for when they gave him $3.25 million last winter, but he's lost a lot of playing time to Dioner Navarro since coming off the DL last month. While he has 11 homers in 230 at-bats, he's hitting just .222 and he's driven in a modest 29 runs.

Rod Barajas had a solo homer and a two-RBI double in Friday's win over the Diamondbacks.
It's his second straight multi-hit game. Barajas is tied for 13th among catchers with 10 home runs and has the fewest at-bats of anyone on that list. But, he also sports a very Rod Barajas-esque .220/.270/.397 batting line for the season.

Rod Barajas (ankle) could begin a minor league rehab assignment Thursday with High-A Rancho Cucamonga.
The tentative plan is for Barajas to serve as the designated hitter on Thursday and Friday before potentially going back behind the plate Saturday. If all goes well, he could rejoin the Dodgers immediately following the All-Star break on July 15. The veteran backstop has been sidelined since June 19 with a sprained right ankle.

Mon Jul 4 201123:46Barajas (ankle) has setback in rehab
Rod Barajas (ankle) is still at least a couple of days away from returning from the disabled list.
Barajas was eligible to return from the disabled list Monday, but has struggled with quick movements on his sprained right ankle. "It seems like he kind of went back a little bit," said Dodgers manager Don Mattingly. "He tried to block the other day and it caused a little bit of a setback." Dioner Navarro and A.J. Ellis will continue to share time behind the plate for now.

Wed Apr 27 201115:35Dodgers' Barajas hits fifth homer
Rod Barajas hit his fifth homer of the season Wednesday against the Marlins.
It was a three-run shot off Anibal Sanchez. As much playing time as Barajas is getting, it looks like he's on his way to hitting 20 homers for the first time since 2005. His .182 average isn't so pleasant, but the Dodgers aren't likely to start sitting him anytime soon.

Fri Dec 3 201020:18Rod Barajas gets $3.25 million from Dodgers
Dodgers signed C Rod Barajas to a one-year, $3.25 million contract.
Wow. Barajas' agent deserves a ton of credit here, as it's stunning that he was able to get this much for his client. He did fare well for the Dodgers late last season, batting .297/.361/.578 with five home runs over 64 at-bats, but overall Barajas hit only .240/.284/.447 last season while making just $1 million. He'll be the team's primary backstop in 2011 with the departure of Russell Martin.

Fri Dec 3 201000:34Dodgers close to signing Barajas
Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Dodgers are close to signing Rod Barajas.
The Dodgers non-tendered Russell Martin before Thursday's deadline and are now prepared to move on. Barajas did well in a late-season audition after being claimed off waivers from the Mets in August, batting .297/.361/.578 with five home runs and 13 RBI over 64 at-bats. He's not quite that good, obviously, but he's at least better than A.J. Ellis and Hector Gimenez, the only other catchers on the team's 40-man roster.

Sun Nov 28 201009:07Barajas an option for Red Sox
The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo expects free agent Rod Barajas to be on the Red Sox' radar if they decide not to bring back Jason Varitek.
The Sox are thinking of retaining Varitek as a mentor to Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Barajas, though, would be cheaper and might have more offensive upside at this point. Miguel Olivo could be another option for the Sox.

Wed Nov 24 201021:54Red Sox considering offer to Rod Barajas
According to FOXSports.com's Jon Paul Morosi, the Red Sox are considering making an offer to free agent catcher Rod Barajas.
Barajas hit just .240/.284/.447 in 339 plate appearances between the Mets and Dodgers this year, but he might be cheaper than Jason Varitek and could operate as a backup to Jarrod Saltalamacchia next year in Boston. Barajas did hit 17 home runs in 2010 despite the poor overall batting line.
