Thu Sep 1 201122:24Hensley only gets through two
Clay Hensley made it through only two innings Thursday, giving up four runs - two earned - on two hits and two walks in a loss to the Mets.
It was a strange outing for the right-hander, as the Mets couldn't do anything off of him in the first two innings, but things suddenly unraveled on him in the third, as he loaded the bases and then walked a run in before Marlins manager Jack McKeon gave him the hook. Three of the runs charged to Hensley scored after he left the game. The right-hander didn't have a single quality start in August and is off to a slow start in September. He'll try to rebound in another matchup against the Mets next week.

Mon Jul 18 201122:18Hensley makes most of poor Mets lineup
Clay Hensley held an injury-ravaged Mets lineup to just one hit in five scoreless innings of work in a 4-1 Florida victory on Monday evening.
Normally a reliever, Hensley struck out three and walked two in his first start since 2008. He made the most of an opponent that was batting Daniel Murphy thrid and Lucas Duda fifth. He'll get the Mets again this weekend in Florida, though Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes should both be back in the lineup by then.

Clay Hensley suffered a shoulder injury in Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Hensley refused to discuss the injury following the game, but he apparently felt something "pull" in his shoulder when he struck out Sean Burroughs. "We have to wait and see what's wrong with him, " said Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez. "But the way it looked, it looks like he's going to be out for a while." Hensley has had shoulder problems in the past, so this news is very troubling.

He also filled in well as the closer towards the end of the season while Leo Nunez was struggling, but Nunez is expected to get the job back for 2011.

Tue Sep 28 201019:55Marlins thinking about Hensley as starter
According to Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post, the Marlins are thinking about using Clay Hensley as a starter next season.
"I already told (Hensley) I like him better as a starter or a middle reliever than a closer," said Marlins interim manager Edwin Rodriguez. "But it's good to know as a player, as a manager, you have a guy you can rely on to close games." Hensley has been a perfect 5-for-5 in save chances, but remember that he almost won a job in the starting rotation out of spring training. It's something to think about, but his fate will ultimately be decided my a "manager to be determined."
