Rodriguez was cleared in order to make room for outfielder Michael Ryan on the 40-man roster. Rodriguez, 26, made one appearance with the Angels last season, allowing three runs -- two earned -- over two-thirds of an inning last May. He has a 4.68 ERA over parts of eight seasons in the minor leagues. | ||||||

Angels recalled RHP Fernando Rodriguez to Triple-A Salt Lake. | ||||||
He'll take the place on the roster of injured closer Brian Fuentes. Rodriguez, 25, made one appearance with the big club last May, but spent the majority of the season in the minors between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Salt Lake. He put up a less-than-impressive 7.54 ERA in 23 relief appearances for the Angels' Triple-A affiliate last season. | ||||||
