Mon Nov 19 201215:04Rangers interested in Jays' Arencibia, Buck
Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports that the Rangers are not only interested in J.P. Arencibia, but also John Buck.
The two clubs are an obvious match for a trade, as the Jays have tons of catching depth and the Rangers have none. Texas' interest in Arencibia isn't a surprise, but it's hard to believe anyone is terribly interested in Buck, who hit .192/.297/.347 in 2012 and is set to earn $6 million in 2013.

Sat Sep 22 201215:39Buck blasts three-run homer in loss to Mets
John Buck blasted a three-run homer in the ninth inning against the Mets on Saturday, but it wasn't quite enough to lead his team to victory.
The three-run bomb was his only hit in four at-bats on the afternoon. Jon Rauch took over for R.A. Dickey after he'd allowed the first two runners to reach in the ninth, and Buck welcomed him with a towering drive over the left field wall. He's having an awful season offensively, hitting just .201/.308/.362 with 12 homers and 41 RBI, and has recently been losing the majority of his playing time to rookie Rob Brantly.

Wed Sep 5 201222:41John Buck has rare multi-hit evenings
John Buck went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in Wednesday's loss to the Brewers.
The multi-hit night was just Buck's sixth in 32 games since the All-Star break. Due $6 million in 2013, one of the worst signings of the 21st century is hitting .201/.308/.346 through Miami's first 137 games.

Tue Aug 21 201200:54John Buck goes 4-for-5, homers
John Buck went 4-for-5 and homered in a second straight game Monday against the Diamondbacks.
Buck's nice weekend could partly be explained by Coors Field, but he kept it going tonight and is 7-for-13 with three extra-base hits in his last three games. The Marlins will likely play him over Rob Brantly while he's hot.

Sun Aug 19 201218:15John Buck hits solo home run in win
John Buck hit a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.
Buck's fourth-inning blast off Drew Pomeranz was his only hit in four trips to the plate. Although he's hitting an uncharacteristically solid .295 in the month of August, Buck is still sporting a nightmarishly bad .188/.301/.333 slash on the season. Buck is due $6 million in 2013.

Tue Aug 7 201222:23Buck's two-run double powers Marlins to win
John Buck smacked a two-run double as part of a four-run fourth inning, leading the Marlins to a 4-2 win over the Mets on Tuesday.
Buck is in the midst of a truly abysmal season, hitting just .177 with eight homers and 29 RBI, so it's nice to see him contribute something positive to the fish. Even with his moderate power potential, he's a very difficult start in two-catcher formats due to his horrendous average.

Tue Jul 31 201214:48Marlins trying to deal Buck before deadline
According to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com, the Marlins are aggressively looking to deal John Buck before Tuesday's trade deadline.
Buck joins Carlos Lee and Heath Bell as names that the Marlins would like to ship out of town before the end of the day. They are reportedly seeking outfield help in return, but shouldn't expect much for a catcher hitting an abysmal .169/.286/.298 with eight homers and 26 RBI in 76 games this season. Should they find a potential suitor, Brett Hayes would likely slide in as the starting backstop, with recently acquired Rob Brantley being promoted to serve as his backup.

Wed Jun 20 201223:04John Buck hits rare home run
John Buck hit a solo home run in Wednesday's blowout loss to the Red Sox.
It's the first notable thing Buck has done since May 13, the last time he homered. Making $6 million, Buck is hitting an unbelievably bad .168/.297/.292 through Miami's first 68 games. His days of fantasy relevance are long gone.

Thu Apr 5 201204:12J. Buck plates first Miami run of the year
John Buck went 1-for-3 with an RBI double in a 4-1 Opening Day loss to the Cardinals on Wednesday.
Buck has some pop, but his batting average last year was a huge Achilles' heel. It's good to see that he started the season on the right foot.

Sun Mar 25 201216:40John Buck homers, walks three times
John Buck homered and walked three times in the win over the Rays on Sunday.
The Marlins are undoubtedly hoping Buck hits for a higher average this season after coming in at .227 last year. Still, that wasn't out line with what they should have expected. He'll probably be good for 15 homers and 50 RBI once again, but a big rebound isn't likely.

Fri Aug 26 201122:49Buck slams Phils
John Buck went 2-for-3 with a grand slam in Florida's 6-5 win over the Phillies on Friday.
Buck's 16th home run of the season was his second to clear the bases. His 16 bombs are second to only Brian McCann's 22 for National League catchers.

Mon Aug 8 201122:33Buck homers in loss
John Buck hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning of Florida's 8-5 loss to the Braves on Monday.
Buck's 12th home run of the year was just his second in 19 games since the All-Star break. Even though he's only making $4.5 million, Buck has been one of the majors' most overpaid players this season. An alarming fact for the Marlins, since he's due $6 million in both 2012 and 2013.

Sun May 29 201118:59Buck still struggling as Marlins get two-hit
John Buck went 0-for-3 with a strikeout as the Marlins could manage just two hits in their loss to the Dodgers on Sunday.
They got two-hit by Clayton Kershaw. Buck has now gone 11 games without an RBI, and is batting just .212 on the season. In Toronto last year, Buck's average never dropped below .250 after May 10. Hopefully his struggles are simply new-league related, but that might not be the case after he vastly outperformed most of his previous career bests last season.

Fri Apr 29 201122:20Buck finally hits second homer in win
John Buck homered for the first time since Opening Day on Friday, taking Travis Wood deep for a three-run homer in the first inning of a 7-6 Marlins win over the Reds.
Buck entered the night just one for his past 16, and with only two extra-base hits, both doubles, since April 10. So far at least, his power has not translated outside of the Blue Jays' homer-happy hitting approach.

Fri Apr 8 201114:08John Buck getting the day off on Friday
John Buck will get the afternoon off on Friday when the Marlins take on the Astros.
With the Marlins playing in a day game after a night game, Brett Hayes will start in Buck's place. The former Blue Jay is off to a hot start this season, hitting .296 with a home run and seven RBI. He has yet to draw a walk, however.

Fri Apr 1 201122:08Buck slams Mets in Marlins debut
John Buck made a splash in his first game in a Marlins uniform on Friday evening, doubling and belting a grand slam in Florida's Opening Day win over the Mets.
The slam was just the third of his career. Buck is likely to be vastly overpaid at $6 million a season for the next three years in South Florida, but if his first 20-homer campaign from last season proves to not be a fluke, it will go a long way toward making the Marlins forget his inability to draw walks.

Wed Nov 17 201018:17Fish complete three-year deal with John Buck
Marlins signed C John Buck to a three-year, $18 million contract.
The Marlins have made several questionable moves this offseason, and it's only mid-November. Buck slugged 20 home runs for the Blue Jays in 2010, but he registered a pedestrian .281/.314/.489 batting line and seems unlikely to match those power numbers next season. Granted, he is an offensive upgrade over the carousel of catchers that the Fish have employed recently.

Wed Nov 17 201008:39Report: Marlins ink Buck to three-year deal
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, John Buck has agreed to a three-year, $18 million contract with Marlins.
All that stands in the way of making this one official is a physical. Buck, 30, batted .281/.314/.489 with 20 homers, 66 RBI and an 803 OPS with the Blue Jays this past season while throwing out 28 percent of would-be basestealers. He'll be an upgrade behind the plate for Florida, but we fear this is the classic case of a player cashing in off a career-season.

Tue Nov 16 201016:57Buck to receive $18 million from Marlins
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that John Buck's three-year deal with the Marlins will be worth $18 million.
Well, you can't say the Marlins are cheap here. Silly, maybe. Buck, 30, has successfully parlayed his first 20-homer season into a big money contract. We'd expect a small drop-off from a fantasy perspective, but he's still worth some attention in mixed leagues next season.

Tue Nov 16 201015:04Marlins nearing 3-year deal with John Buck
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Marlins are nearing a three-year deal with free agent catcher John Buck.
That was quick. Buck slugged 20 home runs in 2010 for the Blue Jays and was expected to spend a large portion of the winter searching for a lucrative multi-year contract. But the Marlins, frustrated by years of poor offensive production from behind the plate, decided to move fast. No word yet on the financials of the deal. It should be worth close to $20 million.
